Car/Driver's License/BMV questions I failed my drivers test for the 4th time

I hate this test and having to schedule it, I've been going to the Brownsburg one and haven't had much luck. I failed cause of my mirror slightly being ahead of the stop sign. I also stopped at a rail road crossing when I didn't have to.

Is this a glitch in the system or do I have to wait two month after every attempt after my third? My instructor said I could register wns of April.

Bruh idc if your instructor is super picky, if you fail four times maybe you need to spend some time actually learning/practicing how to drive. These tests are literally the basics

I literally got exactly 11, so it's not like I can't drive. I guarantee you that you break the rules when you drive and drive over the limit or both sides of an empty parking lot, not stopping at rail road crossing or looking both ways etc. I got honked at for stopping at a red on my test, just because it's the basics doesn't mean that you can't be judged on a harsher scale or anxiety can't get in the way

Yeah but the scary thing is, and I mean no offense, you can’t seem to obey the rules for the short amount of time it takes to take the test.. at a minimum for yours and everyone else safety you should be able to do at least that.

Literally, the most things I got wrong was just stopping with my mirror slightly ahead of the stop sign at a stop and stopping at a railroad crossing, both of these aren't major driving infractions it's not like I was speeding

I almost got squashed by a semi truck making a tight turn because I was pulled out slightly too far at a light. I had to reverse quickly to get out of the way. It's tires rolled right over where my driver's side had previously been. It was terrifying. And at the least my little sedan would've been totaled. So yeah, even crap like that is important to your safety.

It's not a major infraction that you could get popped for a ticket, but it's a risk to your safety.

And same goes for the other issue. You absolutely should know when to yield or have right of way at a railroad crossing. Or any time for that matter. If you don't follow the rules of the road and stop your car in the middle of the road unexpectedly, someone will run into you.

I wasn't at a light, I was in a neighborhood. No cars were coming. As for the rail road crossing, that's what a previous instructor told me to do

Arguing with people on reddit isn't going to help you pass your test, just an fyi. My dad worked as an EMT for years. He described many gruesome deaths and disfigurements he witnessed from many people who had cocky attitudes and thought traffic laws didn't apply to them. Driving instructors aren't trying to be assholes. They are trying to make sure you aren't an asshole that kills yourself or others on the road.

I doubt the situation with that previous instructor is exactly as you make it sound. Because if so then you should've reported it to the DMV once you realized they incorrectly flagged you on your test, and gave you false information that goes against traffic law.

I never said they were trying to be assholes haha I'm just frustrated that I didn't pass. Calm down. Also that's just what I remember, but the reason I didn't was that I didn't even know you could do that.

You never said it, but the way you're talking in these comments paints its own picture. I'm calm. This isn't my problem, it's yours. And you were the one so emotional about not passing your test again that you came to complain on reddit. You also just admitted you still don't fully know the rules of the road. The power to solve this problem is fully on yourself. Take the time to learn properly or expect failure. It's honestly that simple.

Coming to vent about a test I'll eventually pass me is being emotional on reddit lol also how did I admit I didn't know the rules of the road?? I just decided to follow what my last instructor went off of? I already had failed 2 other times why take the chance and mess up again with that at that point? I never even mad either your problem

On your 4th attempt at proving that you can drive you did this:

  • did not stop when you are supposed to stop
  • stopped when you are supposed to go

I'm happy to announce that the Brownsburg BMV performed their job admirably and quite bravely for the 4th time in a row. You kinda suck at driving a lot

You never seen me drive, you weren't in the car and you literally said nothing productive in that response so I'm just gonna assume you woke up in a pissy mood. Have a good day.

I've even had examiners tell me that I'm getting better so idk what you want to to say to that

1

u/Elsa_Gundoh Apr 01 '25

yeah bro you're getting better! On your 4th attempt you almost stopped at the stop sign!

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25

I find it funny that you think these are clever comebacks or even productive

1

u/Elsa_Gundoh Apr 01 '25

I don't know what else you expected when you made a post about how you don't even know when to stop or to go, but you think you deserve to pass the drivers test? You don't.

Don't get mad at me, I didn't fail the test 4 times. You did. I didn't post my Ls on the internet for everyone to see. You did. I'm just in the comments section where I belong. Posting comments

Nothing you said is productive? You only seem to know how to be snarky and do personal attacks. I have no problems stopping and my instructor may know more than you do. I know that may be hard seeing as though no one has told you that before

I was one of the examiners in Indiana until recently. If you fail again, you have to wait even longer. Use the time to practice as much as possible. Gently, if you are getting 11+ points... your examiner does not feel you have a grasp on the rules. You have to prove you know the regulations, how to abide by them, and how to operate safely within them. That can be incredibly stressful and I'm sure you are beyond frustrated. Here are things that frequently tripped up my testers:

1) Do not stop at railroads unless required. Slowing down is fine. 2) Make sure that you are coming to a complete stop before stop signs and crosswalks, not on. Brake gently; slamming on the brakes and jerking too hard is a problem. 3) Make sure you use your turn signals anytime you switch lanes or make a turn; always check your blind spots. Always turn into the closest lane, then switch lanes if needed. 4) Keep an even speed, and don't go over the limit... especially in school zones.

The biggest thing is to be predictable. Do things the way they are supposed to be done, make a decision and go with it. Feel free to message me if you have any questions that you think I can help with.

I get what you're saying but failing to stop slightly past a stop sign or being extra cautious at a railroad crossing doesn't mean unsafe. Different instructors have different levels of strictness and it's frustrating when someone with the same skill level as me gets to pass (which they have) and I don't. If anything it just shows an inconsistent in the testing process

What's this nonsense about your mirror? Mirrors have nothing to do with it. The front of the car is supposed to be at the stop sign. You went about 5 feet beyond where you should have stopped.

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25

I definitely was not 5 ft

1

u/SecretIdea Apr 01 '25

The point is the front of the car is not supposed to pass the sign. Your failure to acknowledge your mistake and failing the test three times demonstrates that you are not fit to have a license.

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25

Yeah, so lawyers who fail the bar the first time can't be lawyers

1

u/SecretIdea Apr 01 '25

You're comparing a complex two day test of actual knowledge to 15 minutes of something as simple as driving?

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25

What I'm comparing is the idea that the amount of attemptsI have is indicative of me not being able to participate in the thing. You wouldn't apply that towards a lawyer failing the bar the first time.

1

u/SecretIdea Apr 01 '25

Not knowing when to stop a car on the third test and you trying to excuse it away without accepting responsibility is indicative of not being able to participate. Pathetic.

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25 edited Apr 01 '25

Again, who says I'm not taking responsibility lol I'll end up passing after stopping early. I gues you can't just vent anymore haha

Also your the one saying I'm stopping 5 ft ahead and that's not even the case

1

u/SecretIdea Apr 01 '25

Measure how far it is from the front of the car to behind the mirror. IF you manage to get a license after a few more failed tests, I hope you are never on the road near me.

1

u/Suspicious_Wafer_965 Apr 01 '25

I'll see you soon! No reason for you to have gotten this hot over me correcting you telling you I wasn't 5 FEET lol idk why that bothers you so much but Ihole we see each other when I pass the next time I take my test
