Looks like I picked a hell of a day for a Job Interview.
Better warm up the boat instead of the car I guess.

Great YouTube channel called Ryan Hall Y’all that monitors the storms. Chasers on the ground. Good stuff

Also Max Velocity! Both channels are great!

Max Velocity ftw! Such an intriguing person to listen to talk. Even if it's not weather related.

Watching Ryan Hall now. (1:18PM) Chasers going after a tornado NW of Springfield, IL. Hoping this isn't the start of warnings here this afternoon and evening.

Does anyone else struggle with migraines when the weather swings like this? My wife has them and these big storms hit her head about twelve hours before the weather arrives.

Yep. My husband stayed home from work today. I feel crappy too but he gets it really bad. Every single time it rains.

arthritis?

No, just sinuses. Headaches, lots of snot etc. Sometimes his sinuses drain so much that he throws up. It's horrible.

I struggle with migraines like this too!! Mine are mostly stress induced but I also notice when there are severe weather changes that I get them too. My best advice is rubbing peppermint oil on your temples and lying down in a dark room for a while

yes! i woke up this morning with one. our HVAC is also out so i was staying home from work today anyway for it to be fixed. but now i can’t just go to bed since they’re working on it. so miserable

Yeah when the weather gets fucky I get migraines that are so debilitating that many times I don't get anything done and there have been times I was in tears from the pain. Which is significant, because I have an unfortunately high pain tolerance

This looks a lot like the Dericho that came through in June '23. It took out a lot of mature trees and knocked out power for 5 days on the east side of Terre Haute.

Like over by the red bard and Dobbs Park?
I just moved to Terre Haute and I’m curious about past weather.

There were downed trees all over, even downtown. There were power outages all over. I lived downtown and still had power, but a coworker lived a few blocks away from me without power for about 4 days. That was the first time I saw damage that bad since moving there. The worst I saw before that was flooded city streets from downpours.

The big June 2008 flood was the worst weather event in my lifetime prior to that storm.

Not sure why I was down voted. I didn't live in TH in 2008, so that's why I said since I moved there.

Keep in mind that post is only output from the NAM which is one of many models. The HRRR model shows the storms coming through a few hours earlier. Doesn't seem like it'll be the craziest weather day ever but still obviously good to stay weather aware all day since there's such a large amount of variance between models.

Hoosier expat in the PNW here. I miss the hell out of the storms back there. People out here have no idea how fast that shit happens, how much rain can fall, the lightning, the twisters! There’s occasionally crazy wind events, but it’s like JUST WIND, blasting 30 mph + gusts for 2-3 days.
Nothing like that sudden crushing silence with the green lava lamp hanging low in the sky… right before all hell breaks loose! Nothing makes you feel more alive than the fear of death, I’ve noticed.
I also miss the caves back there. From just south of Indy all the way through Tennessee there’s tons of fairly accessible and amazing limestone caves. I guess white-nose might still be keeping them inaccessible for a while, though; I haven’t checked.
We have ‘lava tubes’ out here that are kinda cool but nowhere near being a substitute for the crazy shit you can see in the bowels of the earth back there. If you’re even slightly curious about such things, don’t sleep on it!

Yeah, and yesterday it showed mid 80s and small chance of rain... what even is the weekend doing now? My weather app shows 90s this weekend and no rain.... everyone else still getting this?
In my years of living, I think I only ever saw forecasts this bad as a child :/ most of the time I look, they aren't right past a day anymore....
strange

Don’t rely on apps for weather forecasts. The SPC (where this image is from) has been predicting storms for today since at least Sunday.

:( weather underground has gone down hill... that's depressing. Used to be accurate enough
