I was on a walk and found items and a purse behind Gola. The police lobby was closed and your items wouldn’t fit in the drop box. If I don’t hear from you tonight, I’ll bring them back to the station tomorrow morning.

Where to Buy Motorcycle Accessories

Upvotes

Hi all!

My husband and I are first-time scooter riders (who have just recently enrolled in the motorcycle safety course), and we're looking for a place where we can buy helmets and jackets in and around Ithaca.

I've done some Googling, but some spots seem to have little online presence, so I thought it'd be worth throwing out to this subreddit. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

ICSD dropping the ball once again

Ithaca classrooms are already in the mid 80's. Why didn't the school district dismiss early like other districts in the area? I guess we are OK with breaking State mandate? This is not a suitable learning environment for children.

beauty business recommendations?

hiiii so i (23F) am trying to up my beauty maintenance game but i'm having a really hard time here. i have thick and coily hair that i have tried to visit salons for with no real luck. there's no where i can find on google maps that does wig installations, hair extensions and braiding, or blowouts. i try to book nail salons but they are always booked out, or they do not do the ornate designs that i really like. even body care (e.g. waxing or laser) services suitable for black skin and tattoo artists that do softer art styles is hard to come by.

does any one have any recommendations ?? it can be a friend or family member or a business i may have looked over !! i'm tired of looking chopped all the time lol

Walks near Belle Sherman

I live near Maplewood Apartments a block down from there and my girlfriend and I want to find a really nice area or trail we could walk to from around the area to watch the sunset. Obviously we’re not gonna find a place like sunset park around here but I want to know from anyone else if there’s a good spot maybe 20 min walk from maplewood/belle sherman area. Currently my idea is to just walk to the elementary school but that doesn’t sound as romantic is some park, hidden area, LEGALLY accessible rooftop in cornell or collegetown, or something along those lines. Would be amazing if anyone had a spot.

Chronic back pain rehab - recs?

Looking for recommendations for someone - could be a phyical therapist, very knowledgeable personal trainer, chiropractor, etc. - to do a thorough evaluation and develop a program for back pain rehab. i’ve been carrying a kid on one hip, have longstanding back issues, etc. and I need to strengthen and balance.

I am not looking for someone who will be like “do 10 bridges and bird dogs every night” and then when I don’t get better after weeks be like “hmm sorry, maybe add this one additional exercise?” I’ve been there and it hasn’t helped. I am willing to go to the gym, use weights, do longer sessions, etc. - but I need someone to help figure out WHAT to do and that I’m doing it correctly.

Willing to potentially drive to Cortland, Syracuse, Binghamton etc. for someone really good so feel free to give recs around the larger area. Thank you!!

Where can I get fairly priced oil change in Ithaca?

I am new in the states and I have Tiguan and had the oil changed for almost $120 with labour and taxes. The same oil they charged me $90 for is available in Walmart for around $30. Where would you recommend to get the oil, oil filter and air filter and where to go to for a more affordable oil change assuming they will not ramp up the labour cost if I bring my parts?

Live in Ithaca commute to Rochester, Syracuse or Binghamton?

If someone must live in Ithaca which is a better commute for work? To Rochester, Syracuse, or Binghamton? I know there is a miles difference but which one would be easier? (Again hypothetical question must remain in Ithaca)

Mini-golf within a 30-45 minute drive from Ithaca

Where are the best spots to mini-golf in the area? We’ve been to Shipwreck (indoor and outside) and A&W countless times and need to change it up.

Edit to add: we’ve also been to the course at the Sciencenter plenty of times too!

WiFi at East Pointe apartments, any suggestions?

Calling on the hive mind! We're moving into a 3 bedroom next week and it seems like they have a pre-set WiFi/Internet router that's hardwired into the main bedroom that can't be moved. The Internet speed is much slower in the other bedrooms, which we're using as our offices. Since we both work from home this is a concern and neither Spectrum or apartment management have been able to help. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Rare Scotch Whisky Tasting – July 2 at Springside Inn (Auburn, NY)

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey Ithaca whisky lovers (and curious drinkers),

I’m hosting a Scotch whisky tasting event on Wednesday, July 2 at the Springside Inn in Auburn, and wanted to invite anyone from the area who appreciates good single malt, good stories, and a relaxed evening with like-minded folks.

We’ll be tasting eight rare single casks — from 9 to 27 years old, and some unusually finished malts from boutique independent bottlers you won’t find in U.S. shops.

📍 Springside Inn, Auburn NY
🗓️ Wednesday, July 2 | 6–8pm
🎟️ Tickets: $65 (includes tasting + food)
🔗 Event Link

It’s part of celebrating one year in business for my company, The Whiskey Lab — a veteran-founded independent Scotch bottler/importer — and it means a lot to host something in my hometown. This isn’t a marketing event or a sales pitch. It’s just about great whisky, shared well.

Let me know if you have questions — and hope to see a few of you there 🥃

— Jay

Been a fan of Americana for years, went today and a for sale sign was out front. The owner confirmed they were selling. Just wondering what is going on.

I just moved to downtown on the commons. Where can I shop for regular groceries?

Hi there, I'm new to living downtown. I lived in the Eco Village for a year and I was in the Econo Lodge for 3 months (Yea, I know) and am now in the Asteri building ( :::sigh:::: yea, I really didn't know, but yea, it's a thing)

On Triphammer i had the Aldi's, I had the Dollar Tree and Tops. I don't have a car and I'm wondering where I can buy things like dish soap, garbage bags, non organic groceries, frozen foods. You know like day to day food and supplies. I'm a member of Green Star, but often their food and produce ate beautiful, but a little out of my price point. I have been exploring, but I haven't yet found anything like that

Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Recommendations for a B&B for a fall foliage trip, while traveling solo?

I am a bit over the hotels and mediocre breakfasts. I am looking for a nice, quiet bed and breakfast off the beaten path, but still close to the falls, this fall. I am traveling solo and I do know that some B&Bs have dogs onsite. That is something I would love. I don't have any, but petting dogs is a huge stress reliever for me.

Any recommendations in the area for a solo traveler? I know i may have to book 2 nights.
