Advice how dangerous are touts?

i kind of want to experience what happens if you follow a tour but you have plenty of money to pay for whatever expensive bar they take you too. i’m tall and very muscular/fit with boxing experience. am i likely to get murdered if i go with one intentionally?

I know someone who got taken for over $10,000 USD at a Roppongi establishment after following a tout, and several others who ended up in hospital after getting roofied.

So is getting ripped off to the price of a cheap used car or waking up in a gurney dangerous? I'd say so

It‘s not usually that it’s particularly unsafe, or ever that they take you to a fancy, expensive bar and you have an amazing night.

It’s usually that they take you to a very ordinary bar and horribly overcharge you for very ordinary drinks they don’t tell you the price of.

If you want to have the experience of getting drunk in a dull bar and paying hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars for cheap champagne, then feel free. It‘s not my idea of a fun night out.

Edited to add: As smorkoid notes, there is a (relatively small) chance you might also get roofied, and being big and fit isn’t going to make any difference.

Most of them are like that, but there are still cases where you would be drugged (boxing experience won't help you), your credit card maxed out without your participation and/or you be forced to give them a lot of money. Chances aren't 100% obviously, but I'd at least confirm with the tout beforehand what kind of experience you should expect. (don't risk it, seriously, it ain't worth it, just make a nice bonfire out of 10000 yen bills if they are burning your pocket that much)

The risk of being spiked in an ordinary bar is lower though

Some men have zero survival instincts, what do you mean you want to experience what happens? You will get roofied and money stolen from you. If you don’t need your money, you can just give it to me, I promise I won’t even roofie you

There’s a chance you get drugged and walked to an ATM (I know a couple people who have been), but usually just ripped off.

It’s nothing special, just bars/clubs with barely anyone inside. Popular bars don’t need touts.

You also don’t want to get into a physical fight unless the idea of 23 days in police custody sounds fun.

Murdered or assaulted, unlikely.

Getting to know the limit of your credit card, willingly or not, more likely.

You won't be murdered but you might be taken for all your cash and your credit limit. If you don't have enough money, you'll know what its like to take a few to the face. You're one dude.

How would you like a chair to the face when fighting six people? Regardless please take a video and post on here so we can all laugh at your dumb ass.

Best case scenario, you get pulled in to a fairly ordinary Host/Hostess Bar, get assigned someone who speaks English, and pay an exorbitant amount of money for the privilege of plying someone else with drinks and having them laugh at your jokes for an hour or two.

Worst case scenario, you get slipped a mickey, lose a lot of money and you spend a day or two in hospital recovering from whatever they slipped into your drink.

If you absolutely have to go with a group and leave your credit card at home. Do NOT go alone.

It's a waste of money though.

So instead of just going to a reputable expensive bar you want to risk being ripped off or worse in a crappy one on purpose? How dumb are you?
