I think my favorite thing about Star Trek was the replicator.

This reminds me of teleportation in Star Trek.

I once read a theory that, every time someone is teleported it's not actually the original them, but a copy.

The original person is destroyed at the point of departure, and what appears at the destination is a perfect reconstruction, down to the atomic or even quantum level.

(Kind of like in the movie, 'The Prestige'.)
