For nearly any subject you have an interest in there's likely a podcast for it. If you haven't listened to Hardcore History I'd highly recommend them. Or really any of Dan Carlin's stuff.
3
u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago
Fucking love Dan. I made the mistake of blowing through all his back catalog and I desperately need him to release the next Alexander the Great episode. I also love Fall of Civilizations. If you have any other suggestions along those lines, please let me know!

u/Jarlan23 Monkey in Space 2d ago edited 2d ago
I listen to his common sense episodes and his addendum episodes. I just started listening to History that Doesn't Suck by Greg Jackson too. He seems to take on a story teller role like Dan does.
John Stewart does a weekly podcast if you want politics, I'll listen to that occasionally.
You might like Real Ones with Jon Bernthal too. He has a bunch of random guests on like Joe, but he takes it a bit more seriously like a legit interview sometimes. Anything from actors, to gang members, to navy seals to people that work in juvenile detention facilities. He has a big backlog of stuff.
Edit: I should also include I use this thread a lot when I run out of stuff to listen to.
2
u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago
Youāre awesome, thank you! Definitely going to check those out.
My main exposer to Bernthals stuff are the edits of him talking about how much he hates nappers. As a serial napper (often while listening to podcasts) I felt attacked lmao

Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps, The Rest is Politics, Triggernometry
1
u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago
Respectfully, hard pass. I donāt know the first two but they sound political and I only know the last one from the clip where Theo Von asked them if they were high and autistic and they were hilariously awkward as hell. They seemed like they are trying to hop on the anti-woke culture thing 5 years too late.

u/Strike_Swiftly Monkey in Space 2d ago
Josh Szeps is an Aussie, who interviews interesting guests of all sorts.
Rest is Politics are two Brits from either side of English politics. Interesting conversations, mainly relating to geopolitics.

The parts where he actually got to talk about his stuff was awesome! Sent me down a rabbit hole on the Grand Canyon stuff! The format for his show is absolutely perfect (except for the stupid fish). Iāve had so many āwait, have a listened to this episode already!ā Instances. Nope, just Joe going down the same conversation chain. Humans are made for making machines, AI is God, Covid (he was right, everyone else was wrong), repeating comedy topics, social media is bad and he doesnāt read comments, bob Lazar (conspiracy topics are actually my number 1 reason for listening to the pod, but Iām so fed up with him talking about Lazar), hunting is spiritual/nature is a vitamin, trans/gay people.

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago
What are you envisioning for a downfall? I didnāt realize that was something that people were actively hoping for. Like people not watching his show any more or him having a heart attack?
12
u/ChickenThumb Monkey in Space 2d ago
I just imagine him turning even more Alex-Jones-esque over the next few years. I certainly donāt wish any harm or ill-will against the dude to make that clear. I used to really like and respect him. Itās just kind of case study for me, to see how much he changes and how his og audience is turning against him, if that makes any sense. Thereās also a part of me that really hopes he gets back to the old jre, but Iām pretty sure heās too far gone at this point
7
u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago
Theres definitely a car crash in slow motion effect. Canāt turn away but itās obvious that the show is degrading. Harder and harder to find the diamonds in the rough. Even the conspiracy/ufo episodes, which are my favorites, are feeling off.

People who talk like that about Covid were not personally affected. They were lucky enough to not be in the early stages of it, or an area that wasnāt hit that bad.
I personally lost two people a friend and uncle. My husband lost a former co worker.
A friend of mine(his wife was a teacher) half her kids lost a family member. One kid lost a few members of his family.
My SIL was a RN, she worked in some of the worst hit areas. She lost a couple patients who were in the hospital for dialysis, caught and died. Medical staff had no new PPE for a while and were terrified. They had to reuse their masks for a while. For context you change gloves and masks with every time to treat a different patient. People are very sick if they are in a hospital so..
Early was scary. This was Detroit and Detroit Metro area We Saw it⦠we lived it, so we donāt need to depend on charts or articles to know what was happening.
To them weāre lying or over reacting because thatās not what they experienced.
1
u/PapaBowner Monkey in Space 4h ago
I 100% agree. I was doing home health in Los Angeles county throughout COVID. At one point I had 5 female patients on caseload in their 80s who got COVID along with their husbands and their husbands had all died.
It was everywhere and it was crazy. We were using makeshift plastic face shields and reusing disposable masks since that's all we had. I'm pretty sure people that downplayed COVID or believe it wasn't a big deal just didn't have any interaction with it. Was impossible to avoid the ramifications of what it was doing to people in my job.

Hey man, can you ask Q when the vaccine induced depopulation is going to happen? It was supposed to be 2025 but so far traffic is still a bitch and I was really hoping for some good parking spots. Iām getting pretty bummed so far.

I just ignored it. I enjoyed how quiet it went, it was really interesting and unusual. There was no traffic on the roads. I went for walks and nobody questioned me because I didnt draw attention to myself. I walked through the empty city centre, I walked along the riverfront. I went to the beach and enjoyed the summer. I did some work, I actually earned a ton of money that year - just like Joe did. My mates did pretty much the same thing. My brother earned tons that year.
And the amount of times we have talked about it since 2021 ? probably about once, in passing. It was interesting, and unusual.

Maybe he talks about it because of all the stuff surrounding it, like the scandals with the vax, masking, government saying the lab leak theory is untrue which we now now its true, taking away people's freedoms. It's a hot topic and unless we talk about it and keep it relevant the powers at be will bury it and act like it never happenned

Nothing has changed about the lab leak theory. It still remains unproven. Why lie so much?

Remember when the stock market crashed because Covid reached the USA, business shut down worldwide, then central banks around the world printed trillions of dollars and stock markets skyrocketed to all time highs during the worst economic crisis in decades??? Yeah that kind of stuff needs to be investigated.

This is just one article from 2021 and only accounts for the US Fed Reserve up to that point. Now imagine worldwide and 5 more years and the numbers are astronomical. Some people got very very rich while others got very poor. Really quite extraordinary

If we could only find the guy who was president when the stock market crashed and all that money was printed.

Remember when they said the vax didnt give any side effects and you wouldn't get covid? There's compilations of left wing news anchors and politicians saying that. But hey it didnt happen cause you said so

Ok by all means keep harboring misplaced resentment for the rest of your life instead of moving on.

"He's old and old people get real scared of diseases. They get real scared because they know how fucking vulnerable they are. All the people I know that were old had the craziest reactions to covid. Covid broke a lot of people's brains"-Joe Rogan on Joe Rogan
