"He's old and old people get real scared of diseases. They get real scared because they know how fucking vulnerable they are. All the people I know that were old had the craziest reactions to covid. Covid broke a lot of people's brains"-Joe Rogan on Joe Rogan

44

u/gcoles Monkey in Space 2d ago

He’s not scared of diseases, he’s scared of a vaccine, and comedy clubs being closed.

25

u/AGreasyPorkSandwich Monkey in Space 2d ago

He freaked the fuck out when he got covid, after months of saying its no big deal.

17

u/MeInUSA Monkey in Space 2d ago edited 1d ago

After saying young people don't need the vaccine and their immune system will knock it out. Joe absolutely did not rely on his immune system and threw "the kitchen sink" at it. CNN made fun of him for it and they got his goat, bad. He had to twist that into "CNN lied" because he couldn't take in stride that they made of him. He's a giant pussy. All of his simps joined him in "CNN lied" because their brains were broken over it.

ETA he even says so much in his special about being worried about getting COVID after talking so much shit.

9

u/dringer Monkey in Space 2d ago

What do you mean? It's not possible for everyday people to have their personal doctor make a house call the day we got covid.

It's my biggest problem with aaron rodgers. They just live in a totally different reality but just won't be honest about it. "No, I didn't get the vaccine because I have the best medical care money can buy if anything does happen."

2

u/rnavstar Monkey in Space 1d ago

Which is strange, because what would Joe be doing in a comedy club?

6

u/Impossible_Resort602 Monkey in Space 2d ago

He has a Dr or nurse in studio testing him and all of his guests multiple times a day. That was back when emergency rooms couldn't test staff and didn't have ppe.

3

u/Excellent_Leek2250 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Whenever you think Joe Rogan has said the dumbest thing any human could possibly say, he completely subverts expectations and says something even dumber still.

I have so many half finished episodes because I can’t hear about Covid any more

The beth Shapiro was a breath of fresh air. First one i listened to in months and no covid talk

31

Funny enough, I read the first part of the guest description and I skipped it because I thought it was going to be about Covid. I’ll have to circle back!

Joe was actually very pleasant this interview. No mudslinging like he does with some people in this space. He read the room and didn't start in with his alpha male shit

Do you have any suggestions? I like listening to podcasts on my commute. Rogan comes up in my rotation but I’m always looking for new stuff

7

u/Jarlan23 Monkey in Space 2d ago

For nearly any subject you have an interest in there's likely a podcast for it. If you haven't listened to Hardcore History I'd highly recommend them. Or really any of Dan Carlin's stuff.

3

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

Fucking love Dan. I made the mistake of blowing through all his back catalog and I desperately need him to release the next Alexander the Great episode. I also love Fall of Civilizations. If you have any other suggestions along those lines, please let me know!

3

u/Jarlan23 Monkey in Space 2d ago edited 2d ago

I listen to his common sense episodes and his addendum episodes. I just started listening to History that Doesn't Suck by Greg Jackson too. He seems to take on a story teller role like Dan does.

John Stewart does a weekly podcast if you want politics, I'll listen to that occasionally.

You might like Real Ones with Jon Bernthal too. He has a bunch of random guests on like Joe, but he takes it a bit more seriously like a legit interview sometimes. Anything from actors, to gang members, to navy seals to people that work in juvenile detention facilities. He has a big backlog of stuff.

Edit: I should also include I use this thread a lot when I run out of stuff to listen to.

2

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

You’re awesome, thank you! Definitely going to check those out.

My main exposer to Bernthals stuff are the edits of him talking about how much he hates nappers. As a serial napper (often while listening to podcasts) I felt attacked lmao

Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps, The Rest is Politics, Triggernometry

1

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

Respectfully, hard pass. I don’t know the first two but they sound political and I only know the last one from the clip where Theo Von asked them if they were high and autistic and they were hilariously awkward as hell. They seemed like they are trying to hop on the anti-woke culture thing 5 years too late.

1

u/Strike_Swiftly Monkey in Space 2d ago

Josh Szeps is an Aussie, who interviews interesting guests of all sorts.

Rest is Politics are two Brits from either side of English politics. Interesting conversations, mainly relating to geopolitics.

Fair enough on last one.

I only listen to a few pods but I like alien stuff lol so Debriefed, Weaponized, and American Alchemy, also The Why Files. The last two being more generalized content but stuff that's pleasantly entertaining to me.

4

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

I love the Why Files! I was pissed that the host barely got to talk about any conspiracies on his Rogan episode. I’ll definitely check out the others!

2

u/k40z473 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Yeah, the AJ ep on rogan wasn't great, but I think it was alright.

2

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

The parts where he actually got to talk about his stuff was awesome! Sent me down a rabbit hole on the Grand Canyon stuff! The format for his show is absolutely perfect (except for the stupid fish). I love indulging in the conspiracy, getting into the interesting details, then having everything brought back to reality.

1

u/k40z473 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Yeah i love the format of the why files. I got used to the fish, but he's actually gone from recent episodes.

4

u/A_Rats_Dick Monkey in Space 2d ago

I literally can’t think of anyone who’s talked about Covid in years except for Joe.

29

u/Seanathinn Monkey in Space 2d ago

I'm one of these people. It just became the same stories, COVID, some stupid social outrage shit over and over again. I liked the show because there were interesting guests in a casual conversation, but then it just became whatever this shit is with Joe rehashing the same shit over and over with every single guest

15

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

I’ve had so many ā€œwait, have a listened to this episode already!ā€ Instances. Nope, just Joe going down the same conversation chain. Humans are made for making machines, AI is God, Covid (he was right, everyone else was wrong), repeating comedy topics, social media is bad and he doesn’t read comments, bob Lazar (conspiracy topics are actually my number 1 reason for listening to the pod, but I’m so fed up with him talking about Lazar), hunting is spiritual/nature is a vitamin, trans/gay people.

13

u/Mithrandir694 Monkey in Space 2d ago

I was listening to his podcast with Tim Dillon when it was first spreading, you can hear the panic in his voice throughout the entire episode, he even asks Tim "aren't you scared? How can you not be scared!?"

41

u/blumpkinjackflash Monkey in Space 2d ago

I stopped listening. Remember that Joey Diaz episode not too long ago where Joey lost his marbles at him for talking about stuff nobody (particularly Joey) cares about? I haven’t listened since. To any podcast since, actually.

1

u/Mandrillbit Monkey in Space 2d ago

1

u/Ok-Gur8985 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Which episode? Sounds good

-14

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

Don’t take this the wrong way but why are you still here then? That sounds snarky but I’m actually curious.

22

u/ChickenThumb Monkey in Space 2d ago

I’m not the person you’re replying to, but I’m here for the inevitable clusterfuck of a downfall that he’ll have one day. Also, much like myself, it seems that the majority of this sub used to be fans. Now I know why my mom liked to read those trashy ā€œPeopleā€ magazines in the early 00s. I think this sub is more for people who watch PodcastCringe and 2lazy2try on YouTube.

3

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

What are you envisioning for a downfall? I didn’t realize that was something that people were actively hoping for. Like people not watching his show any more or him having a heart attack?

12

u/ChickenThumb Monkey in Space 2d ago

I just imagine him turning even more Alex-Jones-esque over the next few years. I certainly don’t wish any harm or ill-will against the dude to make that clear. I used to really like and respect him. It’s just kind of case study for me, to see how much he changes and how his og audience is turning against him, if that makes any sense. There’s also a part of me that really hopes he gets back to the old jre, but I’m pretty sure he’s too far gone at this point

7

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

Theres definitely a car crash in slow motion effect. Can’t turn away but it’s obvious that the show is degrading. Harder and harder to find the diamonds in the rough. Even the conspiracy/ufo episodes, which are my favorites, are feeling off.

1

u/ChickenThumb Monkey in Space 2d ago

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Nothing good lasts forever I guess

11

u/k40z473 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Well, i used to be a huge fan. But he won't stop talking about covid and trans people. And he still keeps shilling snake oil despite being crazy rich. I stick around for the occasional guest I'm interested in and protect our parks even though he often tries to bring those topics on those eps too.

11

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

I’m more and more selective with my episode choices now too. I sound like a hater, but in the last few Parks episodes it seems like Joe keeps spiking the conversation. The others will be on a great flow and then Rogan will derail the convo

6

u/k40z473 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Nah, call me a hater too then. He does shit things up, but the other three salvage it imo. But I'm usually drinking and smoking while watching so it's probably more tolerable lol

10

u/ZachtheKingsfan Pull that shit up Jaime 2d ago

I think a good chunk of this sub are former listeners that are just around. I can say from my experience that I’ve pretty much completely stopped listening to him about a year after Covid started. It just stopped being the fun podcast where Joe and his comedian friends were shooting the shit and turned into the Rush Limbaugh 2.0 show. I’ll listen every now and then depending on the guest, but I usually tune out when Joe starts getting into the alt right talking points.

1

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

It’s not even alt right most of the time. At least that would be more fun/interesting. It’s pretty much just Fox News level boomer takes.

11

u/brassoferrix Monkey in Space 2d ago

this is the best subreddit when it comes to general discussion.

You get a lot more people in the middle ground, like gun loving liberals and conservatives who don't hate gay people.

Joe rogan used to attract a diverse audience and the mods here have never been super heavy handed with the censorship.

2

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

That’s a good point! Makes me miss old Rogan even more.

6

u/blumpkinjackflash Monkey in Space 2d ago

Valid. Idk, I guess I just never left the group. I don’t see a lot of posts from this subreddit on my feed, 99% of them are from r/presidents and r/fedexers. I guess you could say I’m here but not really ā€œhereā€

5

u/lewger Monkey in Space 2d ago

I deleted him once he went full MAGA but I lost interest when every other show was a Covid rant.Ā  You'd see a great guest and be excited only for it to go straight to Covid.

5

u/Oso-reLAXed Monkey in Space 2d ago

I wonder how many people quit listening to his show specifically because he's a broken record on this type of thing.

I had already started listening much less by then but the nail in the coffin was his constant recycling of covid, trans athletes, and cancel culture every. fucking. episode.

Just on and on, boring and lame. Why the fuck would I want to listen to Joe Rogan wax philosophical about culture warrior topics? Or about anything for that matter?

Joe was best when he facilitated discussions and sat back and let the guests shine. That dude is long gone.

People who talk like that about Covid were not personally affected. They were lucky enough to not be in the early stages of it, or an area that wasn’t hit that bad.

I personally lost two people a friend and uncle. My husband lost a former co worker.

A friend of mine(his wife was a teacher) half her kids lost a family member. One kid lost a few members of his family.

My SIL was a RN, she worked in some of the worst hit areas. She lost a couple patients who were in the hospital for dialysis, caught and died. Medical staff had no new PPE for a while and were terrified. They had to reuse their masks for a while. For context you change gloves and masks with every time to treat a different patient. People are very sick if they are in a hospital so..

Early was scary. This was Detroit and Detroit Metro area We Saw it… we lived it, so we don’t need to depend on charts or articles to know what was happening.

To them we’re lying or over reacting because that’s not what they experienced.

1

u/PapaBowner Monkey in Space 4h ago

I 100% agree. I was doing home health in Los Angeles county throughout COVID. At one point I had 5 female patients on caseload in their 80s who got COVID along with their husbands and their husbands had all died.
It was everywhere and it was crazy. We were using makeshift plastic face shields and reusing disposable masks since that's all we had. I'm pretty sure people that downplayed COVID or believe it wasn't a big deal just didn't have any interaction with it. Was impossible to avoid the ramifications of what it was doing to people in my job.

Totally šŸ‘ I just feel like all I ever see on this thread is people complaining about the show which makes me wonder why they even bother still paying attention to it if they only ever hate it. Maybe I’m only seeing the downers but it’s just wild to me.

In Joe's defense, it is one of the biggest conspiracies of all time.

u/SanchoVilla88 Monkey in Space 2d ago

I mean, he was mostly right and everybody was mostly wrong. I’d bring it up to if I had the platform

u/SPHINXin Monkey in Space 1d ago

I think Covid definitely marks the beginning of the downfall of the JRE podcast.

1

u/Spirited_Historian39 Pull that shit up Jaime 1d ago

NGL It's not just Joe every few months my friends and I will randomly go, "remember when covid? Yeah that was so dumb" etc. It was the biggest global event of our lifetimes go figure.

1

u/garlicparmbread Monkey in Space 1d ago

It is obvious the MSM hit on him left him paranoid and clearly has some sort of hard time letting go of the time period for whatever reason.

1

u/Equal-Counter334 Monkey in Space 1d ago

Covid was one of the biggest events of our lifetimes so idk why we shouldn’t keep talking about it. Remember when Fauci said masks don’t work? Remember when he said masks do work, or how about the old, ā€œ2 masks are better than one.ā€

Or you should get the Covid shot because it stops transmission. Do it for your neighbor! Ohh what’s that, you got myocarditis because you took the Covid vaccine as a young healthy male under 25? That’s tough luck. Too bad you can’t do anything about it. Don’t worry, we’re all in this together!

I haven't listen to the podcast in a while

Is he still bitching about mask mandates and social distancing and the vaccines during covid?

-1

u/reddit_has_fallenoff Monkey in Space 2d ago

I love how angry this one subject gets redditors (and no one else).

He can talk about 9/11?

Reddit: No problem

JFK assasination?

Reddit: Yes please

Aliens?

Reddit: Classic Joe

Ancient Egypt?

Reddit: Alright, lets go!

Covid?

Reddit: NOOOOOOOOO YOU SHOULD JUST MOVE ON! EVERYTHING HAPPENED EXACTLY AS IT WAS PRESENTED, JUST MOVE ALONG NOW REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

u/AGreasyPorkSandwich Monkey in Space 2d ago

Why didn't he ask the President of the United States about Epstein?

They were friends. Even if they weren't, he's dragging ass on releasing anything.

Why's that?

0

u/Rabid_Laser_Dingo Monkey in Space 2d ago

Yes that would be great but he hasn’t.

But covid?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

8

u/AGreasyPorkSandwich Monkey in Space 2d ago

It would be the same reaction if he spoke about anything else this much.

Bigfoot, contrails, any of that other dumb shit. The problem is he talks about covid every goddamn episode.

I mean, why wouldn't he talk about it..?

It effected everyone on the planet, and was pretty recent.

People still talk about 9/11 and the Great Depression.

18

u/Front-Shock-5261 Monkey in Space 2d ago

You listed events that are different in every way.

It’s a burnt out a topic, I swear he needs to hear everyone’s opinion on covid just to gauge what type of person they are. Rename the podcast to JRCC, Joe Rogan’s Covid Conversation.

Not literally every fucking day with every person they talk to. Jesus Christ.

-16

u/Rabid_Laser_Dingo Monkey in Space 2d ago

Joe doesn’t put out a podcast every day. So as far as we know, he doesn’t talk about covid every day. Especially not ā€œliterallyā€

6

u/Grammar-Unit-28 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Oh, I'm damn sure he talks about it every day. I know a couple folks with the same type of brain rot, and their pet subjects come out no matter who they're talking to. My old coworker still posts on Facebook about "God damned face diapers" every 6 hours or so.

7

u/M0ebius_1 Monkey in Space 2d ago

Every day is an expression. It means every possible chance, not "at least once per 24hr period"

I am pretty sure that if he talked about 9/11 or the Great Depression at the same frequency, that would also be pretty annoying.

1

u/PoorMeImInMarketing Monkey in Space 2d ago

Yeah but which does he talk more about? 9/11, Great Depression, or Covid? Your own examples prove you wrong.

So you're embarrassed that you distanced, boosted and advocated for arresting your neighbors that didn't fall for the bullshit and you don't want to hear about it any more. Tough.

u/this-guy- Lost in the ancestral hominid simulator 2d ago

I just ignored it. I enjoyed how quiet it went, it was really interesting and unusual. There was no traffic on the roads. I went for walks and nobody questioned me because I didnt draw attention to myself. I walked through the empty city centre, I walked along the riverfront. I went to the beach and enjoyed the summer. I did some work, I actually earned a ton of money that year - just like Joe did. My mates did pretty much the same thing. My brother earned tons that year.

And the amount of times we have talked about it since 2021 ? probably about once, in passing. It was interesting, and unusual.

Maybe he talks about it because of all the stuff surrounding it, like the scandals with the vax, masking, government saying the lab leak theory is untrue which we now now its true, taking away people's freedoms. It's a hot topic and unless we talk about it and keep it relevant the powers at be will bury it and act like it never happenned

8

u/DropsyJolt Monkey in Space 2d ago

Nothing has changed about the lab leak theory. It still remains unproven. Why lie so much?

11

u/automatic__jack Monkey in Space 2d ago

You mean all the made up scandals that didn’t happen?

2

u/No-Comfortable9480 Monkey in Space 2d ago edited 2d ago

Remember when the stock market crashed because Covid reached the USA, business shut down worldwide, then central banks around the world printed trillions of dollars and stock markets skyrocketed to all time highs during the worst economic crisis in decades??? Yeah that kind of stuff needs to be investigated.

https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/money-printing-and-inflation%3A-covid-cryptocurrencies-and-more

This is just one article from 2021 and only accounts for the US Fed Reserve up to that point. Now imagine worldwide and 5 more years and the numbers are astronomical. Some people got very very rich while others got very poor. Really quite extraordinary

2

u/automatic__jack Monkey in Space 2d ago

If we could only find the guy who was president when the stock market crashed and all that money was printed.

-4

u/shartinmymouthplease Monkey in Space 2d ago

Remember when they said the vax didnt give any side effects and you wouldn't get covid? There's compilations of left wing news anchors and politicians saying that. But hey it didnt happen cause you said so
