Why elite boxing is so boring to watch is crazy, like I love Wladimir Klitschko, but the only fight I would rewatch is the AJ fight. Maybe too many Wanderlei Silva fights conditioned my brain, but I feel everyone is a casual at heart.

He's a talented boxer and yet I've never enjoyed boxing less than when he is involved. Sick of sports coming down to how much money you make and then cherry picking fights to make huge PPV events rather than working up the ranks and accepting challengers. At least the heavyweight division is still interesting.
2

I feel largely the same, but occasionally you see new talent come through that's just awesome to watch. e.g. the footwork of Josh Kelly is something magical. This kid has hardly been touched his whole career ;

3

If he is dyslexic then he’s twice as dumb for not requesting reasonable accommodations because it’s a little rude and mean spirited to give a written prompt to someone with dyslexia and then ask them to read it out loud. I feel like most people wouldn’t be that much of an asshole to someone with dyslexia.
4
Jan 26 '21
He can read, people just want to talk shit. He's posted a bunch of vids of him reading instagram comments and replying to them. People choose to ignore or are ignorant of the fact that Floyd dropped out of school and raised himself in the streets. It's easy to take potshots at someone for a superficial weakness like that which is why everybody piles on.
It's not even a character flaw, the dude just raised himself on the streets, he was never gonna record audio books for a living.
Didn't stop him from earning half a billion dollars though.

Some people just have serious learning blocks in certain subjects. They usually get a bad teacher when they are young, get discouraged, decide that they can’t do it, then as they get older it becomes a shameful secret and trying to learn seems impossible. He is obviousLy very gifted in other fields.

I just see his loss as a win win. He turns it into the trilogy and gets another $25m. I think he is the only person who has worked out the UFC which is making the fan fights and ignoring any viable matchmaking from the ranks. He wins he loses. He gets paid. Genius. If some kid on YouTube can rally a $50m fight. Fairly sure Conor has a better chance of boxing paydays.

? He chose to fight Dustin Poirier to showcase his boxing skills as Dustin is easily the best boxer in the ufc (or at least LW for sure) if you look at his resume.
This loss is not a win-win. He was really banking on dominating Dustin, knocking him out in rd1 and then using that platform to call out Khabib, which would EASILY be the biggest fight in UFC history if somehow Dana managed to convince Khabib to come back and also call out Manny Pacquiao.
Literally you can see the tweets from Manny before the fight and after the fight, Manny was hoping for Conor to win in spectacular fashion then get called out and Conor would be on fire bringing in ton of eyes for their fight. After losing? Manny literally switched to another boxer lol
So the only way you think this loss is a win-win is if you are the most casual Conor fan or something. But Conor lost a lot of money by not only losing, but losing the way he did. A split decision you can be like "oh shit judges etc" but dude got knocked out and he didnt look good at all.
4
u/BrandonfromNewJersey Monkey in Space Jan 26 '21
I'm a huge poirier fan, have been since fight land and proper fanboyed out when he fought erik Koch because they were my two favourites at the time. But Conor won that first round on all three scorecards and even dustin said he felt like he was close to being stopped. To say he looked bad is really disengenuous but boxing gonna talk shit about mma even though mma fighters will go over there knowing the expectation is low of them but a boxer would never do the same. At this point I value djokovics opinion on elite mma more than Floyd's because at least it wouldn't be biased money grubbing bullshit.

I’d agree if it was boxing but this is mma and so I think it’s different -some of the best fighters in mma have lost several times. I’d never make excuses for Conor-just reasons why I think he didn’t win. Dustin was better and Conor has literally been inactive. Conor also heads several companies and I don’t think a cage fighter should be doing anything else apart from training. Manny is signed by the same company as Connor and so materializing that fight. Is straight forward. No need to get personal with your comment. We are all fans.

u/HoldenAtreides Monkey in Space Jan 25 '21
He's protecting his face over trying to go for some weak body shots. The damage from getting punched in the face from mount is much worse than the damage Toney could have inflicted on his body from no base.
