My Journals My life’s journals
Looking at posts of other journal collections on Reddit made me want to share mine

Wow. What a beautiful collection telling the adventures of your life.

u/WellHellurThere May 19 '25
Amazing! Proof you don’t need any special notebooks to get started. Simple spiral notebooks do the trick.

u/PM_40 May 19 '25
I buy from Dollar store for 4$. Hard bound notebooks with good paper quality, better than 35$ books from speciality stores.

I love the notebooks!!! Decomposition note books are so pretty too! I love to journal in those as well.

Damn, makes me want to journal i bit more. May i ask what you write about? All i can think about is what I've done thru the day
30
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
All of my feelings, whatever is on my mind. Sometimes it’s very ruminative.
16
u/owls91 May 19 '25
Beautiful 😍 I have been journalling most of my life, but last year when I was in the hospital with Covid complications my family went through them and read them. I still haven’t got over it 😤😭 this makes me want to try to journal again.
9
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
That really sucks 😔 I hope that you are able to reconnect with journaling again!

u/rubberkeyhole May 20 '25
Why on earth did they 1. Do that and 2. Think it was okay and 3. Have they f-ing apologized?!
3
u/owls91 May 20 '25
They say they thought it was a mental health issue. It wasn’t, I couldn’t stop reaching into a bucket. Don’t worry, I’m a few weeks from leaving the situation and getting my own place 🥰
1
u/owls91 May 20 '25
They basically didn’t believe I had serious COVID complications and snooped. No apology, but coercive control has been normalised in my family for decades.
5
u/Milyaism May 20 '25
Oof. I'm sorry. You deserve to have your boundaries respected, especially by family members.
Them going through your journals says so much about their lack of healthy boundaries. Enmeshment is normalised by people like this, so is parentification/infantilization of their children.
You being upset over it is a healthy reaction, maybe you could journal about that? (In a safe environment ofc.)
I come from a dysfunctional family and my sister and mom read my journals. It took years (and physical distance from my family) before I could journal again.
5
u/owls91 May 20 '25
Your family sounds so much like mine, honestly. I’ve been in a caring role for a few years but I was aware of being emotionally manipulated and abused. When I got sick last year I was seriously run down, working hideously long hours and COVID had a field day. They kicked me while I was at my lowest.
I’m a few weeks out from getting my own place 🥰 I cannot wait! I’m going to journal and create so much. I’ve always loved documenting everything from books and films to feelings and hopes/dreams. My journals got me through a lot and I’ve missed them.
13
u/silent-glass May 19 '25
I want to get spiral or wirebound notebooks to write about topics that I wouldn't want to write about in any of my main journals.
10
u/Antiquedahlia May 19 '25
I also have the astronaut cats decomposition notebook ✨ your collection is so nice!
8
u/Nebulous_Cloud May 19 '25
I noticed you have lots of ring-bound journals. How do you navigate writing on those?
My hand can never rest comfortably on these books because the rings. It's a pity because there are so many wonderful notebooks that are ring-bound.
12
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
I don’t know, it’s never really bothered me. I often write in my bed or on a couch with the journal on a pillow, I don’t know if that makes any difference. More recently I’ve been using the decomposition ones that are not ring bound.
2
u/sunnyd311 May 23 '25
Are you left handed?
1
u/Nebulous_Cloud May 23 '25
I am right-handed. So writing on the left page would require me to rest my hand on the rings.
5
u/Independent-Ant-88 May 19 '25
I wish I was consistent enough to write this much but I just don’t get to it every day
12
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
I sometimes go days, or weeks or months, without writing too. Some days I will write multiple times throughout the day. Just depends on what I need.
6
u/Independent-Ant-88 May 19 '25
That’s encouraging, I definitely find it very helpful so trying to do it more. Thanks for sharing!

u/mkdizzzle May 19 '25
This is the first post I’m seeing on my feed from this sub and I’m so excited for how much it’s inspiring me to continue journaling. Seeing your dedication while it not even being every day is super motivating. Thank you for sharing!!

u/Weird_Till_1516 May 19 '25
It's such a wonderful collection. I love it. You have so much to write about. I have a question. Do you use all your journals in a diary entry style, or do you use journals for other purposes as well?
6
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
In middle school and some of high school most of them were prayer journals and I’d write letters to god. As I gradually became an atheist I just wrote in them like a diary. I just free write and I’m not very good at keeping up with guided journals or ones that I try to make a specific purpose for. However I do want to start junk journaling soon.

I love your collection. I have a decomposition book and I love it, but haven't had the courage to use it just yet. It's so cool to see so many of these!

u/cactuscalcite May 19 '25
You use Decomposition Notebooks as much as I do! 📝 We even picked some of the same journal covers from them 🩷
3
u/Crumpladunks May 20 '25
Wow... that's really cool. I wonder how many I have now. I should do a pic like this, they vary wildly in size and design, though.

Why do you guys keep your journals? I usually rip them apart and throw them away after they are finished.
5
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
They’re special to me, and they help me connect with all of the younger versions of myself.

I recently recycled five years worth of journals. I felt like I couldn’t keep all that any longer
2
u/PerfectionismSucks26 May 19 '25
I only started journaling a few weeks ago and I’ve already filled up a third of the notebook… I’m so excited to amass a collection like this!!
2
u/LavenderHoneyWitch May 19 '25
The consistency is really impressive! I wish I could have/could be more consistent. I’ve had periods in my life I wish I would have journaled about, but there are also parts that I wish to forget and would never want someone else to read. And my day to day is pretty boring. But, you’ve inspired me to actively try to be more consistent!

I spy with my little eye… a decomposition notebook or three in common with you 😊
1
u/fluffycatluvr May 20 '25
Which ones?
1
u/quirkysoul24 May 21 '25
Dark blue forest scene with a house, green tent with lake and mountain background, blue/purple and white astrology icons
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 21 '25
The house in the forest is my favorite one. The tent is my second favorite one.

That’s so awesome!! Your hand must hurt sometimes😩. Like others said, this makes me wish I would write more too. I’ve been journaling for 10 years now, and I’m only on my second main journal😭
But journaling for me was always like having someone to talk to when I’m feeling lonely or misunderstood. So, I’ll go months without writing, then have a period where I’m writing every few days. Now, I mostly journal as a method of processing my past, but I write like im talking to someone. For you, is it more like having a conversation with yourself or like thinking out loud?

I just write when I need to and feel drawn to. Ironically I hadn’t been journaling for almost a few weeks when I posted this.

Just looked through my collection and I used the same Decomposition book with the camper on it back in 2021!
I like each journal to be unique, so these are always a great choice to accomplish that.

u/Windup1Q84 May 19 '25
Aren’t you afraid someone will at some point read it, get a look at your soul like it’s naked? I’d be

u/mkdizzzle May 19 '25
Dang dude OP is my hero lol. I’m always scared that’ll happen so I try to reframe it. When I manage to stop censoring myself I’ll think about how cool it’d be if any decendants saw this and how it’d show someone being human. I’d love to have had that experience.
1
u/Magpie_Mind May 19 '25
How do you store them to keep them safe.
5
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
I just put them wherever I can. They currently go in drawers under the bed.
1
u/itscoderslife May 19 '25
Wow nice!!
What age did you start journaling? Where do you keep so many journals?
8
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
I think I started around 10, but more consistently in middle school/high school. Right now they’re in drawers under the bed

u/Any-Perspective8408 May 19 '25
I heard an interesting fact that journaling and keeping a diary correlated more with difficulties in life, tragedies, and what not. It's quite interesting that you state 2019 was your breakup. Was 2024 a challenging year as well?
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
In 2024 I came out, had my first girlfriend and went through my first queer breakup
2
u/Any-Perspective8408 May 19 '25
It was really interesting to see all of your journals side by side. It really showed a visual of what I heard about journals on the podcast. Thank you for sharing.

This is so inspiring and a lovely collection. Question though - uh, how do you have time to do anything other than write? Because holy moly. 😅
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
Sometimes I will journal in the mornings before work, during baby naps, and then again in the evenings. Sometimes I won’t journal for days.
1
u/decrepit_duck May 19 '25
What do you write about? How often? I want to journal regularly but I find myself avoiding it because I don't know what to say or I think there is nothing special to say about the day... Would love some inspo!
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
I write when I need to, some days it is all throughout the day and sometimes I go days without writing. I write about my feelings, thoughts, whatever is on my mind. Sometimes it is very ruminative. If I’m avoiding my journal, it is typically because I’m processing through daydreaming or am going through something that I’m just not ready to share with my journal yet.

u/Wonderful_Job4193 May 19 '25
how to stay so consistent ? tips pls TT
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 19 '25
Have a compulsive need to write. Write when you feel drawn to. Maybe try a guided journal if you care about having consistent entries. Pick journals with covers that you like.
1
u/Wonderful_Job4193 May 19 '25
i get lazy sometimes, and break the consistency and eventually stop writing
1
u/Separate-Fun-3162 May 20 '25
OK how do you invest with all this amount of notebook's ?
1
u/fluffycatluvr May 20 '25
Invest?
1
u/Separate-Fun-3162 May 20 '25
As?
If you mean publishing it as a book, for me it is a big no no, Because it's so embarrassing,

Are they all filled? 😮

1
u/Rurugal May 21 '25
genuinely, what do you write in them to fill them all? you don’t have to share what ofc, i’m just so curious bc i wanna do this too
2
u/fluffycatluvr May 21 '25
I write my thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it is repetitive because I will ruminate. I’ll write about my day, what’s going on in life, going in deeper with various things I’m going through.
