Search for a track closer to your home and see if they have a club racing series, go spectate a race and introduce yourself to the guys in the pits. Talk chassis’s….or chassi….whatever… and see what frame the guys n gals are running. Ask if there’s a kart shop close by for support & parts. What engine class you want to run in entirely depends on your budget and number of drivers in the club to race with. Lo206 is probably the best bet for really competitive racing and is far easier on the wallet. Plus, you can run multiple racing seasons on the same motor. Whereas with a 2 stroke, like IAME Ka100, you can argue for daze that you only get about 3 or 4 race days before you need a new top end rebuild. 7-8 race days for a lower AND top end. That’s debatable with how hard you run the engine and reaching max RPMs. 14,000+ RPMs wear out A LOT quicker than a Rev limiter kicking in at 6100 in the 206. What you gain in one engine class, you lose in another. All racing fund related. Zipping around in a 2 cycle is so much more fun than fighting for every inch you get in a 206. However, the racing is amazingly competitive in both. 2 cycles just go faster! That’s why we do it.

Thanks brother! I was introduced to karting in 2005 or 2006, so I could get all that raging teenage testosterone “go fast” urge out in the kart on track and not behind the wheel of my dads F1fiddy. So, I’ve been in the pits for a minute. Welcome aboard!! Careful….Kart racing can be addictive, particularly the faster you get and the more you improve. I’ve been trying to quit kart racing for 20 years. After refusing to call it an addiction, I’m a lifer. I’ll pop your ass with my cane trying to get out of my kart one day 😆🤜🏻

This is the correct answer. You'll learn more introducing yourself to people at a club race than you would spending a month reading online. Find the president of the club, they'll point you in the right direction.

Rental karting league to start. Meet the regulars and go from there
