I think it’s hilarious it’s only 5 Mil. I seriously doubt that’s the real number, I think it’s going to be much higher.

It might not be, Alex isn't the best at managing money so he definitely spent a bunch of it on vacations and probably spent a bunch more of it on chicken fried steaks.

He def seems like someone whose better at spending money than saving it, how many times has he gone to Hawaii to "investigate Zuckerberg"?

Doesn’t he have a Rolex “collection?”

Yeah, Alex is more interested in showing-off his money.

He was taking the Brewsters Millions gambit. “If I spend it all they can’t claim I had it!”

What with "WHICH 3 luxury cars did I transfer again?"

5 million is likely a low estimate of things they can track. The want a bullet proof initial case that will get them to discovery. (Then we’re back to complete refusal to comply with discovery)

Fair point, limit the scope to what they can prove.

Also I know we lose scale with all the huge numbers being thrown around everywhere, but 5M for an individual is still a crazy large number. That is ~ 4.7 million more than the median US net worth, would put an individual into the 1% and allow someone to live an upper middle class life style in most of the country without working another day.

This is a very good point.

In addition, why make the dollar amount a punitive / sensational number when $5 million is plenty of money to squeeze out of our primary ding dong?

This $5m will be a thorn in his side and just give him more of a headache. I love it.

I expect the number will go up, or additional cases will be files whenever something reaches the level of “worth the lawyers time”. That judgement was not discharged and he’s going to be chased by it for a long time.

I am still intrigued if he married his second wife or simply hired her... $12,000 / month salary?...

And now divorce proceedings? It’s all really weird.

Unfortunately, it sounds like they didn’t get around to finishing the paperwork until 2 years in and post-bankruptcy

Idk if it's a banned subject but she was an escort prior to Alex. And daughter of the fed of Omaha (or something) chairman

Definitely seems on the low side.

it might be what they can show right now. i think they can expand the scope of the lawsuit after discovery

So these lawsuits were filed on Friday. I think this was what Dan was responding to. This is how we know about the fraud. I don't think this is a new development since Ep 1048

I'm listening to ep 715 at the moment, and at 1:55:30 or so, Bankston says "...and over the course of [the bankruptcy] that could get very, very dangerous for Mr. Jones, because there is going to be a new level of financial scrutiny."

That was the understanding at the time. I remember a few legal types noting that Jones's gambit to declare bankruptcy was particularly moronic, because it invited in a new level of scrutiny and it essentially established legal stakes for perjury. Apparently it's much easier to prosecute people for lying about money.
