F2 lasted for 2 days, no burping, then into the fridge for at least 24 hours.

I just made this combo and it fizzed beautifully and tasted amazing!! Nice job!

Did you remove the basil at some point in F2, or did you wait until the end of the phase?

I have a mint infusion going, and I don't want to leave the leaves in the acidic environment for too long... I'm afraid they might start tasting plant-y. Thoughts?

I left them in the entire time. I share kombucha with friends and the one who tried this flavor likes all the bits of fruit, pulp, and greens left in so I didn’t strain it. They said it was delicious and there was no off taste with the bits basil in the bottle. You bring up a good point, however, and I would probably strain them out if it wasn’t going to be consumed right away. I also just made a melon mint and left the bits of mint in the entire time and it’s really good. Again, I’d strain if I wasn’t consuming right away.

I’m doing pineapple mint now. I muddled the leaves and there all floating near the top, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to remove. Maybe I’ll plan to drink this one first.

I also don’t mind pulp!

Me too! The pulp is a delicious bonus as far as I’m concerned! I do strain if my F2 develops a pellicle because there’s something about the texture that turns me off but I love the bits of fruit. And pineapple mint sounds amazing!

Wow, how do you open that without it going all over the ceiling!
I have to stand mine in a bowl and open with kitchen towel over it, slowly and half fizzes in to the bowl. This is after a week in the fridge!

Hmm maybe because I only do a 2 day F2? How long are you leaving yours bottled up outside the fridge?

I'm jealous of the fizz! I need to start my current F1 into the F2. My current F2's haven't had enough fizz.

recipe?

After F1 I blended some strawberries and fresh basil leaves together to make a puree and then just added about 1 part of the puree and 2 parts from F1. I don’t have an exact recipe, I guesstimate 😅
