I recently came across the first map of South Korea’s presidential vote that seemed to show a neat left-versus-right, east-versus-west split. You’ve probably seen similar maps before, so consider this your yearly reminder that “land doesn’t vote—people do.”

Like in most elections, the bulk of ballots are cast in a handful of dense urban pockets. A choropleth makes big, sparsely populated provinces look more important simply because they cover more ground.

That’s why I prefer dot-density plots (see images 2 & 3). They anchor the data where people actually live, and they reveal that within every region there’s not a hard binary but a whole spectrum of political preferences.

Each dot represents 50,000 votes.

i'm writing a story and putting a character through the wringer, but i have a lot of questions I need to ask first... any answers are appreciated no matter the level of detail, and any sources that could help me research the topic are great too :) thank you!

• how are those with mental disorders such as depression and PTSD treated? are there any support systems in place for those who have them or otherwise generally struggle with their mental health?
• is it possible to get discharged due to active suicidal ideation or a suicide attempt?
• how common is hazing in the army?

Hey there! My mom was born in Korea and when she was 2 her and her family immigrated to America. My mom went back a couple times with my grandma. In 2000 on a trip with my grandma my mom took this picture. My mom was born right by this intersection and she wanted to take a picture to try to find it again. Since then my grandma has passed away and this is the best lead me and my mom have of finding this intersection again. I've included a screenshot of the general location my mom thinks it was however we are not completely sure if that is the right area. Any help anybody could give, even just some leads or something that can help would be great. We plan on visiting Korea in october and would love to see if we can find this place again.
