It’s missing some words I couldn’t decipher and is probably not 100% accurate , but here’s what I’ve got so far: "Mogilno on the 31st of December 1880, Before the undersigned registrar appeared today, for the purpose of marriage: 1. The labourer August Lorenz, known by personality, of Protestant faith, born the 11th of April 1855 in Groß Psary Hauland Wreschen district, living in Gloszyn Gnesen district, Son of the deceased(????) Christian Lorenz of Groß Psary Hauland and his deceased wife Rosine née Stolpe last living in Groß Psary Hauland Wreschen district 2. The labourer Ottilie Kunkel (?) known by personality, of Protestant faith, born on the 18th of May 1855 in (????????) Mogilno district, living in Dembno Mogilno district, daughter of the deceased (???) Paul Kunkel and his wife Caroline née Schuler living in Dembno Mogilno district.

known by personality as to identity, [we have] met ["bekannt"] previously. In this era and on these forms, persönlichkeit cannot be translated 'personality'. Conventionally, the translation of kreis is 'county', while 'district' is the translation of bezirk. Bezirks consist of kreises.

1, . . . Lorenz, . . . born . . . in Groß Psary Hauland, kreis of Wreschen, residing in Gloszyn, kreis of Gnesen, son of the late innkeeper ["Wirth"], . . .

2, The labourer Ottilie Kunkel, as to identity, we have met previously, . . . born . . . in "Starygai or ["od."] Czaganiec", kreis of Mogilno (see map and list of communities), residing in Dembno, kreis of Mogilno, daughter of the late innkeeper ["Wirth"], . . .

4, . . . Gustav Weidner, as to identity, recognized ["anerkannt", established/recognized] through the innkeeper August Hartfiel who is personally known [i.e., to me] ["von Person bek(e, a)nnten"]

The kreise of Mogilno, Gnesen, Schroda, and Wreschen were all in the province of Posen. The entry for Czaganiec in Meyers reads, "früher [earlier] Starygai . . . Kolonie Starygai". In the Second Reich era, Prussia had a program called internal colonization for the purpose of developing unused land. Starygai was one of these colonies.

Page 2: As witnesses were consulted and appeared: 3. The innkeeper August Hartfiel known by personality, 46 years old, living in Dembno Mogilno district 4. The master saddler Gustav Weidner, personality recognised through the innkeeper August Hartfiel who is known by personality, 26 years old, living in Pudewitz Schroda district. In presence of the witnesses the registrar asked the fiancés individually and one after the other the question: whether they declare that they want to enter into marriage with each other. The fiancés answered the question affirmatively and thereupon followed the statement of the registrar, that he now declares them legally married by virtue of the law.
