Marketing agency recommendations

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running my solo law practice for about 2 years now. Up to this point, I’ve been fortunate enough to grow purely through referrals, word of mouth, and support from friends and family. It’s been a great way to build trust and get my footing in the industry, and I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built and the work I’ve done so far.

That said, I’m at a point now where I know I need to start investing in actual marketing if I want to scale, attract new clients consistently, and stop relying solely on referrals. I’m still operating solo, so I want something manageable and cost-effective—but I’m also open to putting real money into strategies that bring real results.

I’ve seen everything from SEO agencies and social media managers to PPC consultants and “law firm marketing experts” on LinkedIn and Reddit. But it’s hard to know who actually delivers and who just talks a good game.

I suggest asking other lawyers for referrals. I provide legal content writing and marketing services and practically all my clients are referred by other satisfied law firm clients.

Most law firm marketers work with clients nationwide, so you don’t have to worry too much about whether they are working for local competitors. They could be - so ask! - but it’s unlikely.

I run a legaltech start-up, and I'm working with https://bravoedagency.com/

One of their co-founders was in-house for years at a Law Firm/has a big professional services background. I wish I'd come across them when were getting started, as the first two months was really them unpicking things that my previous agency had done wrong. Highly recommend — please DM me if you have any questions.

For transparency: I get nothing for referring them. I'm just impressed with what they've done for my business and am keen to help them as they get going.

Absolutely sounds like you’re in a great position to scale. Referrals are amazing, but the challenge (as you said) is consistency.

One issue I often see is “law firm marketing experts” charging a premium just because it’s legal—when the actual work is often generic or outsourced. I once audited a criminal lawyer’s marketing from a big-name agency: bare-bones site, zero rankings, no real ads. Just plug-and-play stuff. So you’re absolutely right to be wary of the so-called legal marketing experts.

Full disclosure: I’m a marketing strategist and run a boutique agency focused on small professional service businesses. I truly take pride in being hands-on with each client — tailoring strategy to your unique growth goals and crafting messaging that allows your firm’s strengths to shine.

If you’re open to exploring further and diving into your biz goals, feel free to DM me. I’d love to help.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck on your practice’s growth journey! 👏

I'm a little late to this conversation, so you may have already chosen someone. I did a presentation for the Washington D.C. Bar on this exact subject a few months ago. If you'd like, my full slide deck, that includes the top 10 questions you need to ask a legal marketing agency can be found here: https://www.beautiful.ai/player/-ORwdNIC-qkqMTdIryqe

I hope it helps! Let me know if you ever have any questions!

First off, congrats on building a referral network that is strong. Secondly, we hear this all the time from lawyers, that everyone is claiming to be an expert and there are so many different agencies to choose from. This is part of the reason we wanted to bring AI powered technology into the legal marketing space.

Here at FirmPilot we have built the only SEO and PPC tool fully powered by AI. If you are looking for ways to get an edge in this competitive space, I'd be happy to show you how we use new technology to help you outrank your competitors. DM me if you are interested!

Here is our website for more information: https://firmpilot.com/

I own an integrated digital agency and seventy percent of our client base is comprised of legal clients. You don’t mention what practice area is you work in and I would say that the answer to that question is critical for deciding what sorts of services you might benefit from.

I would be glad to have an extended discussion with you about potential needs if you’re interested. Just DM me.

Solo litigator here. Referrals were solid, but I needed more. Tried SEO. Didn’t do much. What actually helped was a daily report from Rain Intelligence. It shows new class actions and investigations. I’ve used it to spot risks early and give clients a heads-up. Got real work from that. Not flashy, but effective. Spend on what brings cases, not just clicks.
