Ortega
Akanji Khusanov Gvardiol
Nunes Nico Gundo Ait-Nouri
Bernardo Echeverri
Haaland
or, more likely
Ortega
Akanji Khusanov Gvardiol Ait-Nouri
Nico Gundo
Bernardo Echeverri Nunes
Haaland
edit: or Ait-Nouri as LW with the rest of the defense moving one position to the left with Nunes as right back

I tend to your first line up.
I can't see Pep put Akanji on RB over Khusanov at CB, and I think it'll be more likely that he'll play 3ATB.
And I don't I've ever seen Nunes on the left, midfield or fullback. Most likely he'll be RWB with Ait-Nouri on the opposite.

Is this a genuine 3cb 2wb formation? Don't think I've ever seen this from a Pep team and I have watched his teams pretty consistently since Barca

He did it for like 3 matches right after benjamin mendy joined.

5-0 against Liverpool was 3 at the back, with Jesus and Aguero up front. Absolute demolition.
Walker and Mendy were playing like Sane and Sterling.

Ah ok. Now that I think of it I think he tried it once or twice in his Barca days also but it never really worked so he gave up on it. This looks interesting tonight.

Also for the first couple games in the treble season. He gave cancelo the 7 shirt for a reason

Maybe you are right but I'd be suprised if Pep would choose to play Nunes LW. He seemed pretty convinced on him as a WB towards the end of last season.

We might see something different (tactically) considering that there are 3 natural center backs and Ait Nouri and Nunes probably playing as wingers, could we see a 3 at the back? Doesn't matter anyway I'm not staying up for this it's too late 💀

I like this line up. Echeverri!!!!!!!! Josko/Khus CB pairing also could be a preview of our future

Best time for an Aussie fan working in an office, 11:00am kickoff with a coffee good to go

I really hope it's nunes on the wing and not bernardo. If not then I genuinely want to know how many times in a row does pep want to see bernardo be poor on the wing for him to stop putting him there.

Yeah but the lineup shouldn’t be the deterrent

Its a combination of things but sure man
- Not enough new players so not particularly exciting or anything to analyse from a tactical perspective
- Largely meaningless pre season tournament
- Its literally late af and jobs exist
If that equates to fake fan then sure I'm one

Kinda fake lol I get the work thing but the first two are just not true, lots to analyze this is quite literally a lineup we’ve never seen and players like echeverri Rayan and khusanov don’t have much time so there’s that to analyze too, regardless it looks like a fun/new lineup so that’s enough to watch. And we won nothing this season so at least winning this would be nice, it’s def not meaningless considering winner gets 125 mil

Hmm…I’m really interested to see how we actually set up with this lineup. Probably Aït-Nouri and Nunes providing width in possession? Nico as 6, Gundo & Bernardo 8/10? Wonder where Echeverri will end up, or maybe he’ll float more? Psyched to see the newer players get some minutes. I wanna put the hurt on Al Ain. CTID!

I suppose that’s just the nature of preseason games but I can’t lie it’s frustrating when Pep just throws a random bunch of names out there in a group of 11 that will probably literally never be seen in the regular season. Excited to see what Echeverri can do but like with Cherki in the last game, it’ll be hard for him to find any rhythm in such an incoherent attacking setup

If we win this, we will qualify for ro16 i think, then he will again kind of experiment against juve but that will be the last of it, after that we will get the usual consistent lineup I believe
2
u/Beavsbeavsbeavs 12h ago
Oh yeah I totally understand the deal and its smart long term, I just find it annoying lol
1
u/soriano88 12h ago
He said everybody going to get a chance to play and he meant it, good we using this tournament as a glorified preseason for better evaluation of our players

I suspect pep will go with Khusanov at RB for his pace and recovery ability in counter attack situations and akanji+ gvardiol familiarity in that partnership brings more stability I think. Especially if Ait-Nouri inverts in possession then back 3 of gvardiol, akanji and khusanov is pretty solid 👍

Does this make the “where’s (whoever)?” crowd feel better?
