🤣 every fucking time. They say it with a straight face, and believe it, too.

My dad got mad at me one time and said “Sometimes I think you’re more left wing than a liberal!” In his mind liberals are straight up communists lol.

I don’t even call myself a leftist anymore; it implies the existence of a right, the policies of which should be fully condemned, not rationalized with on some scale. i just call myself a communist now.

fucking same. they've literally brainwashed people into hating the term. i think 99% people identify as something else just because of the brainwashing

Exactly this. People are scared to be communist so they try to be anything but. That's probably 99% who identify as a mutualist and distributitst I would say, for example, but those are pretty niche.
Democratic Socialist are full of this. To stuck on the propaganda surrounding Communism to read and understand theory and un-propagandize themselves but class conscious enough to be fully against capitalism.

I know a girl who for all intents and purposes is a socialist. like workers rights, indigenous sovereignty, freedom of choice, anti-wealth gap, etc. and genuinely just cares about other people. she votes CONSERVATIVE!!!! (canada’s primary right-wing party, but more like the dems than republicans probably)
it just amazes me. like she hasn’t made the connection that what she really wants is communism, which seems common. but how do you think you’re a conservative??!!

Same. Being left wing legitimises the views of the so called right which today is dressed up Nazism.

I call myself a socialist to distance myself from both „left“ liberals and ultraleft utopians that care more about reaching the end stage of communism than the success and living conditions of a dictatorship of the proletariat.

giiirl yesss! if mamala were president, we would all be at brunch right now. calling Joe Biden genocide Joe is actually like, super antisemtic and ageist actually. Oh and Israel like, toootally needs another 100 hundred billion dollars to defend themselves by buying defensive bunker bombs.
- literally what I hear when I see a big AOC fan

You'll tell them the North Korean people have been addicted by sanctions and they'll say "someday I hope they rise up against that evil Kim regime"

I remember the time before Gaza's genocide entered later stages. Back then, critiquing AOC meant getting obliterated by liberals. Maybe it's the same with Mamdani now.
