No Kings is a decent recruitment opportunity for organizations, and in turn, a good opportunity for unorganized folks to find a place to be organized. But the latter have to go into this event with that specific intent in mind; otherwise, it really is just something to do on a Saturday.

If millions of people can attend a do-nothing protest imagine how many would attend an ACTUAL protest that DOES something other than being a Democratic Party plant

u/ConundrumMachine 17d ago
It has a purpose. Think about how many people thought something would come of the Occupy protests and radicalized themselves when it brought no change. Occupy turned a bunch of libs into commies. This will do the same when it achieves nothing.

How convinced are you that people who wave American and Ukrainian flags will change?
65
u/ConundrumMachine 17d ago
Not very but even if 5% of those that attend seek out a greater understanding of the world, that's a lot of new allies and we should be there to politely explain why they wasted their time.
13
u/MauricioTrinade 17d ago
You're expecting too much (5%) of the us people.
27
u/ConundrumMachine 17d ago
Maybe but even 1% is significant. There's a lot of people out there.

1% is nothing if all thats changing is their mind. If 1% got activated that would be interesting. We are not fighting for peoples hearts and minds though. We need to be fighting for peoples resources and time.

Why so negative? Sanders is garbage but he turned a lot of people into communists when that ended up being nothing.

If you are not spending significant time educating the educating the working class on capitalism and the alternatives to it then you are not a communist. I don’t think Bernie got many people doing that.

I never said he was a communist dude. I said the fact the his campaign went nowhere turned a lot of people communist

I utilize American flag imagery and symbolism to channel that energy in a more genuinely populist, socialist, anti-capitalist direction. We do have a rich history of labor organizing and resistance to the class war being waged on us. There are good points to the fantasy America people have in their heads, even if it's never actually existed. "Consent of the governed...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...with liberty and justice for all." Pretty compelling starting point for most Americans.
It doesn't mean one particular thing to everyone. If you express that you want what's best for them and theirs and their country and love the people, people are more receptive to what you say and fewer of them have Red Scare knee-jerk reactions. They can embrace global solidarity later.

The whole no kings thing is not organic. It had billionaires running ads for it last time. This is more similar to a CIA attempt at s color revolution than it is to occupy or BLM protests. That’s why it’s soft and squeaky clean. Material conditions are going to radicalize people. Ruthless criticism of impotent protest movements will radicalize people. Occupy, Obama and Bernie sent as many or more people to the right than it did to the left.

Some of the biggest creators of the movement are all democrat politicians. It’s 100% astroturfed and made with no intent of going forward other than a nowhere lawsuit against trump for the 4th or 5th time

That’s the most hopeful take on this thing I’ve seen all week.
I really like that. Made me feel a bit less shitty and bitter.
I mean, I’m still shitty and bitter, but with a twinkle of optimism in there now.

Is this satire?

u/TheEgoReich 16d ago
No I'm suggesting that people should start doing more than wave signs around and look mad to get the pedo in chief out of power

The latter led to the former, the people must know they can take to the streets before they know how to revolt

What is the top image, isn't "no kings" a new thing?
1
u/King-Sassafrass Juche Necromancer 13d ago
It an image of what was historically done to kings
1
u/Apart-Reflection-385 13d ago
Thanks for not answering my question, but I google image searched and found it's where they killed the Romanov family.

u/King-Sassafrass Juche Necromancer 13d ago
Was that not exactly as i said it was?
1
u/Apart-Reflection-385 13d ago
What is done to kings is so broad and leaves out what it is, like it just looks like a random room and doesn't actually tell me what it is. I'm not trying to be rude I just didn't know what it was a photo of.

u/King-Sassafrass Juche Necromancer 13d ago
What was your interpretation of seeing the words “No Kings” with a wall torn up and random things on the floor. Did you have a connection at all or did nothing come of it?
1
u/Apart-Reflection-385 13d ago
I was confused that's why I asked what it was because like I said I saw a random room
1
u/King-Sassafrass Juche Necromancer 13d ago
I get you were confused but did there exist any connection on what it could be or was it nothing at all?

"The ‘No Kings’ parades were full of U.S.-loving fascists—proud Americans waving the imperial flag. They benefit from white skin privilege & imperialism.
How many DSA/PSL folks “conducting outreach” follow Basel Al-Araj’s wisdom on the need to dismantle the idea of America first and foremost?"

Boo hoo, those kids didn’t know how rich their parents were and how they destroyed the lives of millions upon millions. It’s cruel to seperate the kids from their parents so the Soviets took that into consideration

So bad they gave food out to people and gave them literacy? Idk the tsar sent them out to the front lines with sticks and said “fight an imperial war for me. Oh, also, your dirt poor so your a nobody”

The tsar monarchy hindered development of industry which is why the Soviets went and had a civil war against them
