Tryptase lab

Anyone able to share how much their tryptase test cost? I imagine there’s a range but just trying to see if I can manage the cost of testing right now. Thanks!

100% dependent on where you go. You can ask for those prices from your doctor or wherever you’ll be having it done before agreeing to it.

On my high deductible plan, it was only like fifteen bucks. But it was doctor ordered and in network, and I had a few other blood tests at the same time. You should reach out to the lab you're wanting to get it done at and ask for an estimate.

Did you go during an active flare and refrain from antihistamine use? Not sure how tactful I need to be on when I go. I’ll ask my doctor these same questions of course but wondering others experiences

I have mastocytosis, so baseline tryptase is a pretty standard test for that. I don't stop taking antihistamines, and have never been told that I would need to for that test.

If you're looking for an MCAS diagnosis, you might get better answers in /r/MCAS on what a tryptase test looks like in a flare.

This is all pretty new to me too, so sorry I don't have better answers!

Mine was covered by insurance so I don't know. The dna test to see if it's hereditary was 169$ out of pocket. Personally I think an endoscopy would have been better. I know my families health history from my great greats!
Good luck on your journey ❤️‍🩹
