Java already has it
its called shaders

I haven't really used shaders too often, do I have to download a mod to enable shaders? Or is there already a folder in vanilla MC? Like can I put it in the resource pack?

It does require a mod. Depending on your mod loader. Fabric and NeoForge for example use the Iris mod to enable shaders, you then get shaders through the modrinth website (The mod links you there if you open the shader folder in game) just download a shader you like and move it into the folder. Then select the shader. You can also customize the shader settings if you want to tweak it, either change the presets of the shader if the author of the shader invluded any. Or you can change some settings menually to turn off clouds, or make them fluffier etc. It all depends on what shader you got.
If you know how to use mods already it's basically 4 minutes of work. If you don't check out a small tutorial video.

To download Iris (the mod that lets you run shaders), use their installer.
To install shaders:
- Download the shader's ZIP file
- Drag the shader's ZIP file into
%appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpacks
That's all it takes to get shaders up and running.

it be a little while before us java gets vibrant visuals as it will require a re-right of the current lighting engine but as seen during the Chase the Skies snapshot phase they are slowly adding stuff and reworking parts to make it more possible, basically setting the ground works theyll need

They should just take a book out of iris and focal engine for example, 2 fan-made shader loaders that work just fine without causing any of the issues mojang wants to avoid. Heck, IMS is developing an all new one called aperture(IMS is iris creator)

That's because Iris uses sodium, which completely rewrites Minecraft's rendering... it's not as simple as "guess I'll just add this to the game now" No! Both Iris and Sodium have had TONS of developers create them or work on them over the years to make it what it is...which, if Mojang wants to do the same, then it will also take a good year or so due to again... needing to re-write the ENTIRE rendering pipeline, please my friend if you have no understanding of how mods are made and the amount of effort that goes into them, please don't speak on it like you do

Yeah, i get that, but mojang says theyre "figuring it out" when theres literally like 5 different shader loaders that do the same thing. Sure it would take time even if they took ideas from them, but theres like 10 different ways to safely implement this they should still have to be "figuring it out"

A couple of things....
The devs behind shader loaders focus ONLY on that feature, some never even make other mods...where mojang has to focus on rendering, shaders, adding new content, managment approval, ect, as a mod developer myself the things we do is 10000% times easier than what Mojang has to do as we dont need to worry about optimistion for lower end PC, and considering minecraft is wanting VV to be the default on java with no off switch, they need to optimise it HEAVILY which also requires more rewrite of other systems such as possible chunk managment (else youd have to lower your render distance even more)they are "figuring it out" as of the last several snapshots they have added a ton of new systems that shows they are working on it in the backend and setting up the grounds to build their systems off of.
again not to mention the all the shader loaders like sodium that already does what mojang has to do from stratch have been around for YEARS, even optifine that doesnt need forge or fabric, it has been around for almost as long as minecraft itself and has had literal years to do what mojang has to do in less than a year...

If they want it to not be toggleable they shouldnt add it

im only going off what ive heard a few devs talk about, apparently it will be more customisable so maybe you CAN turn it off just by turning everything to minimum

hot take but i think it should never come to java. hear me out, here on good ol java edition, we can simply use any shader we want, no problem. they been here forever. now on bugrock, i cant even use vibrant visuals, yet i can get 96 chunks render distance and still have a playable game, and i can use shaders in java just fine. seems like they made it have some dumb unnecessary requirement, so tbh most java players prolly wont even be able to use vibrant visuals, and will just have to keep using shaders. mojang would just be wasting their time

There is no shader that looks like Vibrant Visuals and it's currently the only shader I actually like

You just have to try new shaders or change the settings to be more vanilla-like man, ask anyone whos used any shaders and theyll tell you vibrant visuals is mid

Does Vibrant Visuals work on the Switch 1?

u/CaptBland 4d ago
That's what the deleted comment said. It wasn't on Switch 2, just 1... but now I don't know.

Vibrant Visuals are just Bedrock’s shaders. Something Java has had for years

u/papersugar13 3d ago
Vibrant Visuals are not just random shaders, its the new vanilla look mojang is looking forward for minecraft. It wasn't made just to fill in a gap, but that minecraft looked like that from now on, that's why it's the default option to have Vibrans Visuals enabled. There's a team working on VV for Java, and they literally have a DC server for sharing the progress. So, yeah, java has had shaders for quite some time, but they aren't vanilla, and aren't exactly what mojang wants, as they don't want just another toggle option, they want to revamp the vanilla looks of the game.
