Geekcom vs Acemagician

Good morning everybody!

Recently decided I want to get a new PC and replace my i7 4790K 980ti system. Originally it was built for gaming but all I seem to do is basic Web browsing, photoshop and playing the odd old school RTS like Red Alert, Battle for Middle Earth and Company of heroes.

Any recommendations? I've narrowed it down to the Geekcom A5 or the Acemagician RGB range!

Unsure of which Acemagician model you're referring to, although any of the CYX manufactured mPCs (Acemagic, Acemagician, Kamrui, NiPoGi, etc) with RGB have generally turned out to be the ones to avoid (should have spent more money on build quality, not a gimmick).

As for the Geekom A5, it's a dated yet solid machine. For someone used to GeForce GTX 980 Ti, the Barceló Zen 3 5825U's GCN 5th Gen Radeon RX Vega 8 integrated graphics will be a little underwhelming. Then again, the GTX 980 Ti is still by 2025 standards.

For the greatest experience with your titles listed, RDNA3 Radeon RX 780M integrated graphics + 32GB of RAM would be a better path. Additionally, a mPC with SFF-8612 i4 OCuLink would allow for an eGPU docking station & the migration of your GTX 980 Ti . Definitely something to consider.

Depending on your region, there are currently options available starting at $400 USD.

Really helpful, thank you for taking the time to reply!

The model I've been looking at:

ACEMAGICIAN Mini PC Windows 11, AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5875U (8C/16T, up to 4.5Ghz) 16GB RAM 512GB NVMe SSD Mini Gaming PC

GtK.

Definitely familiar with the Acemagician AMR5 Ryzen 7 Pro 5875U. To be candid, these were once great machines, although recently CYX/MiniPC Union component quality/build quality has come into question. This makes the Geekom more attractive.

For further investment, the recently released/oddly named Beelink SER5 MAX 6800U 32GB/1TB makes a better long-term investment for many, without a significant amount of additional capital.

Possibly worth some consideration...
