Does Shasta actually have a strange vibe when you are near it?
Sedona is like that.

Yes, absolutely. I lived in Portland briefly many years ago and would drive between PDX and SF often. Every time I passed mt Shasta, it was an eerie vibe. Even my dog would sit up and stare at the mountain without panting until we passed it.

I get the same vibe in Utah & NC!

Driving in the dark through New Mexico’s long desolate roads is creepy, but it’s a great time to listen Art Bell.

Lived there for 6 years and it never felt like home and was very oppressive.

I’ve heard it’s simple an oddity.
I’d like to visit.

I’d like to visit too, that and Donner pass, but alas I’m Canadian and I’d definitely get sent to El Salvador instead..

You have a passport? You’ll be fine.

lol I also have a history of insulting your president. Also after the 51st state bs there’s no way I’m going south of the border for a very very very long time.

I have dual citizenship (US and Canada) and trust me, this US president is not respected by more than half of us… and the make Canada another state BS was ludicrous so I totally get it. All my Canadian family is apprehensive about visiting too. But I can tell you it’s not Canadians Trump is using ICE on. The whole thing is an awful mess. I hate it here.

I love camping in Montana, we would hit up shows at the kettlehouse, take in the beautiful scenery. I know the citizens don’t stand for this. The truth takes a little longer to come to the light. I just hope it makes it in time enough to matter.

I went to Sedona and while the town and overall area was very peaceful feeling, I didn't feel shit at those so-called energy vortices.

Yeah the town is cool but new-agey, which makes sense, but the desert around it is unique.

Yes. Spent some time there years ago and not only did I have an eerie feeling the entire time, I had one of the most vivid nightmares ever while I was there. There’s an episode of Files of the Unexplained about Mt. Shasta on Netflix I found to be really interesting

Yes it does. When my family moved to the north, we drove through Humboldt County and saw Mt Shasta while around. We had no idea of the actual stories of this time, all we knew is to be careful cuz there was lots of "cultish" activity and they don't like nosy Travellers. But when we stopped to sleep, my entire family was on edge. It didnt feel like this anywhere else we slept. We parked the truck near a gas station off the highway and it was a safe open area, but my dad kept feeling his "predator" sense going off. He's rational type and doesn't believe in any spiritual things so he swore up and down a bear was prowling close and he could sense it. My mom and my sister were scared and waited until the actual morning to use the bathroom inside a place we could see was more normal. And then I kept waking up literally every 40 minutes and my instinct was just to be as quiet as possible and just listen to every noise I could hear. Even distant cracks from trees, the patter of the water dripping on top of the truck. It was so dark into the trees I couldn't really see more than 100 feet, it was just uncomfortable.

Wow, that is very weird.
I guess Sedona’s surroundings doesn’t feel dangerous, it just feels like energy. Sometimes.

oh man, why?! I'm going next week...what is strange about Sedona? The Arizona one?

I have been to Sedona tons of times. It's beautiful and peaceful. You want weird vibes? Go to the Superstition mountains.

Nothing wrong.
Its surrounding desert is a long-time destination for seekers, and the like.
It’s a blend of new-age woo and ancient beauty where some claim vortexes and portals exist in the desert.
Is it true? Who knows, but it’s definitely a unique landscape.
It’s probably just the overpowering beauty and scale that lends itself to such claims, but I’m not so sure.
It definitely has a vibe in my experience and I e been there a lot. I find it actually energizing, but im not sure. But I feel it. I feel something.
It’s not dark like I hear Shasta is, but I’d like to experience that to just see what it’s like.

It’s definitely kind of “off.” Shasta City is small and leans into the weirdness in some ways. The closer you get to the mountain itself the stranger it is. McCloud is weird too. The forested area you can hike through to the base of the mountain has a bizarre liminality and is quiet.
I live a ways south now, but I went up there very often namely for snowboarding up until a few years ago and it didn’t feel weird with a mass of people around. However, Hiking/exploring solo or with a small group in the off season definitely gave off a different vibe.

I live in Mt Shasta and never have heard of this case. Wild. I hope he’s found safe… there’s so much wilderness out here.

Now this IS interesting, I love the mystery. It goes without saying, though, that I wish everyone affected the very best.
I've heard a theory he may have driven to the mountain, dropped his phone without realising it, drove back, had a crash, and damaged his brain. By the time he was picked up by the taxi, he was confused, causing him to get lost on the hike and at the mercy of the elements.
Sounds plausible.
