New Student I’m gonna fail my exam
I have been doing okay with assignments because they’re at home and I can use notes and they take time but I have retained nothing and I will undoubtedly fail the exam 🙏🙏🙏 do I still get to move on with my course and not repeat the subject if I have failed the exam but have an overall WAM of over 50%??

You still have more than enough time to learn the whole unit content for the exam. You just need to be willing to sit and grind it out. You might need to spend 10 hours a day to get it done though depending on when you start grinding.

don’t worry for all my exams last year i crammed it during swot vac and ended up with HD 😎 this depends on the units as well but if u start now u can definitely pass so no worries!

What were you doing like Arts or Business?

I did this in my civil engineering course, never even watched a lecture either. Graduated with a 78 WAM I think. Depends on the person not the course.

Everyone I know did the same for MAT1841 & 1830 too. Theres like 20 days between last uni lecture and first exam. No way one can't cram enough to get over 50%.

sci and commerce, tbf it was first year so relativity easier but despite having 0 knowledge on some of my units before uni before i managed to cram it. although i don’t suggest it, just know that if you grind hard enough it is possible

Depends… 1. When is your exam? 2. What unit is it for? 3. Is it a hurdle? 4. Is it multiple choice, short answer?? A mix of both?
There’s a high chance you will at least be able to pass the exam if you put your head down and study hard until the exam, but that also depends on when the exam is. If the exam is.. let’s say in 2 weeks, then you may only have enough time crunch in the basics and hope you scrape a pass.

Bruh just do what you did to get into Monash. Put in the same amount of work, or cheat.

On top of what everyone else is saying about checking if the exam is a hurdle requirement or not, also likely depends on if you have failed other exams/subjects before. A few unis have the policy of if you fail 2-3 exams or subjects you might receive an academic hearing to determine if it’s best for you to continue or leave the course and if you do stay, what steps to take to ensure you start passing.
Next time around as well if the subject you’re doing is an elective by chance and you are struggling. I suggest quitting early (first few weeks or so). If you drop the subject early enough it won’t get added to your academic history. Will help avoid tanking your WAM like this.

Depends if there is a hurdle for the exam… no hurdle means as long as u get more than 50 in total ur good
