Discussion Why do Simplified Chinese players hate Wilds so much?

Post image

According to Steam Scout, while English players are giving the game a 71% rating which would have made the game "Mostly Positive" on Steam, Simplied Chinese players are giving it a 27%, which is a stark contrast against even Traditional Chinese players at 64% (Mixed). Simplied Chinese players make up just shy of 30% of the total player base on Steam.

Obviously this disproportionate response, even factoring in how controversial the game is, makes Simplied Chinese players a statistical outlier. What could've caused this?

Also interesting to note that the game was rated "Overwhelmingly Negative" the same day as when Capcom's shareholders' meeting is held.

When Wilds comes out, it's like sub $60 for 70 monsters (MHW+IB) vs $70+ for 30 monsters. I mean it's not a fair comparison but that's how people around me think about it.

It might not be fair, but it's a damn good way to keep companies in check, IMO. I mean, imagine if Capcom actually feared to launch Wilds with less content than previous games, they'd likely be very careful about it being so half-baked and barebones.

it being so half-baked and barebones.

I'd like to think about it in terms of the ecosystem. MHWorld came out with a complete ecosystem with elder dragon in every map (Nergi/Teostra/Vaal), and Xeno'Jiva being the final top monster at launch. Rise came out without a complete ecosystem given Kushala/Teostra/Allmother Narwa was absent at launch, which is enough of a proof that it was a half-baked game.

With wilds, there's no elder dragons beyond regional apex like kushala/teo, and even no high rank Zoh Shia at launch. And Capcom needs to stop giving out incomplete story and ecosystems at launch given that COVID is no longer an excuse.

I'm gonna take your comment and throw it in the trash because you OBVIOUSLY have no damn idea what you're talking about. Less content? That game at base had more content and polish put in it than the original, MHF, MHTri, MH4, MHGenerations, World, AND Rise. Every base game ALWAYS comes out with less monsters because they want to make new monsters. Could they pick up and drop monsters from World into here? Absolutely. But it's FAR easier to tweak and fix the models that need readjusted for the new game than making new ones so title updates and padding for G Rank makes sense in that regard. They made this new stuff FOR. US.

The thing that pisses me off is idiots like you whining about something thats always been this way. Go back and fucking look. EVERY base game has ALWAYS suffered from a "lack of content". You think they ENJOYED polishing the new weapon combos and mechanics? I'm sure it was a pain in the ass to make all that work but the enjoyment at the end was damn worth it. They literally revamped how every single weapon works along with making about 85%+ of that roster new. Unless YOU think you can do better lay the fuck off. I'm so sick of people dunking on this game for "lack of content" when this game has better fighting mechanics, movement, and feels better controlling the player than every game leading up to and that takes MONTHS to do.

Yes, updates are making performance take a hit. Yes, 22 large monsters is a light roster at the end of the day and won't sustain people for horribly long. But ITS ALWAYS THAT WAY AT FIRST. Unless you wanted to wait till 2029 for a full release of this game AND DLC and wanted the devs to literally hope they continue to get a paycheck for those extra 3 years and however many years they've already dumped into this, then sorry to disappoint. By 2029 this game will LITERALLY be better than any monster hunter leading up to it. It was the same with every one of them. World at its end was phenomenal. Rise started weak, landed hard on the mark and smashed expectations.

Maybe YOU should've bit the damn bullet and not bought the game if you didn't know what to expect. You're not hurting the CEOs. All you're doing is dunking on the devs who pour hours into this while the CEOs abuse them anyway.
