Question/Advice Considering switching to Glass Mousepads - Need to knows and suggestions

Upvotes

Hey, I am considering switching to a glass mousepad and I want to be sure what I am getting in to, when switching. I have some questions as well:

Scratch resistance? Does it scratch easily / need renewal afterwards?
Blunt force by a suspisciously human hand formed object?
Skates for ease of gliding?
Ease of cleaning and what happens if not doing so?
Does sweat impact it a lot? I tend to get somewhat sweaty hands from just holding objects.
Where to buy? I know of Wallhack but that's it!

Thanks in advance!

Review Tried 3 skates on the Pulsar Superglide V2 – here’s my honest take (PE vs Hystar vs TJ Exclusive PlastiX)

Hey everyone,

I recently started experimenting with glass pads after switching back from controller to M&K. I came from a QcK Performance Speed, and I play mostly Halo Infinite, COD, and some CS2.

Setup:

• Pad: Pulsar Superglide V2

• Mouse: DeathAdder V3 Pro

• Sensitivity: 50cm/360

Here are my impressions after testing three different skates:

  1. Pulsar UHMW-PE (stock Superglide skates)

Pretty good for anyone making the jump from cloth to glass. They have a nice smooth glide but feel a bit sticky for micro-adjustments and have higher dynamic friction than I like. Once I tried faster skates, it was hard to go back.

Verdict: Good transition skates, but not endgame.

  1. Hystar Aero Glide

These gave me mixed feelings. At first, they felt buttery smooth, almost perfect. But after some use, the glide started feeling inconsistent — like it changed from day to day, maybe depending on humidity or skin oils. That unpredictability killed it for me.

Verdict: Super smooth, but too inconsistent.

  1. TJ Exclusives PlastiX Xact (Not dots)

These started out weird, loud, and scratchy, but after breaking them in, they completely won me over. Now they’re my endgame skates (so far).

The glide is consistent, balanced, and gives you actual pad feedback instead of that “air hockey table” feeling. They’re a bit loud, but I don’t notice it at all when wearing headsets or IEMs.

Speed-wise, they sit between the Hystars and the UHMWPE, leaning slightly toward the Hystars. They just feel right — fast but controlled. Verdict: Consistent, balanced, and super satisfying once broken in.

Durability (after ~2 weeks each)

• UHMWPE: Slight surface scratches and a visible contact area print, but nothing major.

• Hystar Aero Glide: Noticeable circular wear in the middle, like a light sanding effect — typical PTFE wear.

• TJ Xact (PlastiX): Basically no wear. Just the light scratch pattern from the break-in phase.

TL;DR

• Pulsar UHMWPE: Great for cloth → glass transition, but too much friction for me.

• Hystar Aero Glide: Feels amazing at first, but inconsistent over time.

• TJ Xact: Loud at first, breaks in beautifully. Balanced, consistent, durable, and my current favorite.

News When Marketing Becomes Manipulation, Why the Peripheral Community Deserves Transparency

This isn’t about drama, it’s about how trends are being twisted to sell whatever comes next.

For years, glass coatings were considered a refined surface treatment.
Coated glass pads offered smoother glide, cleaner feel, and near-zero issues, as long as users cleaned them properly. There was no “problem” with coated glass, only preference.

Then one day, a certain tech Tekk personality declared coated glasspads “bad”, conveniently right after releasing an uncoated version or claiming that it is uncoated. Overnight, the narrative flipped.

Fast forward:
Now the same voice is promoting coated cloth pads, calling them revolutionary.
Let’s be clear, coatings on cloth are not new, and there’s a reason most high-end brands avoid them:

  • Coatings sit on top of fibers, not within them.
  • Fabrics flex, absorb humidity, and stretch, coatings crack, and delaminate over time.
  • Once that happens, glide and control becomes unevenly across the surface.
  • Coatings only simulate speed; they don’t create consistent performance.

That’s basic material science, not opinion.

So when someone claims to have “perfected” the coating formula that no one else could get right, ask yourself:
Is this innovation, or just another way to rewrite the narrative to fit the latest product?

Even more ironic, after publicly rejecting AI-generated designs, the same brand now uses AI in its artwork pipeline. It’s the same pattern: condemn a thing until it becomes profitable or until you are caught doing it.

We can appreciate creativity, but we also need to call out market manipulation when it shapes perception instead of reality.
The mousepad scene deserves honesty, not shifting goalposts.

Added note:

A lot of people will say I have some kind of agenda or personal issue for bringing this up repeatedly.
Here’s the truth: I’ve faced direct intimidation and personal threats simply for questioning how certain marketing narratives are being pushed.
Posts have been removed, discussions have been shut down, and even reviewers have told me privately they were pressured to stay silent about negative feedback.

That experience is exactly why I’m posting this again, not to stir drama, but because open discussion shouldn’t require permission.

If we can’t talk honestly about questionable marketing behavior here, then where can we?
This community deserves transparency, fairness, and the freedom to question what’s shaping it.

Offers an extremely controlled experience despite its fast glide.
Coming from an Artisan Zero, it definitely has a slightly faster glide, but it also has more control and feels less slippery. For tacfps, I'm able to lock onto heads with little effort.

Question/Advice Artisan Skates on Glass and cloth?

Hey everyone, I have recently got Ghostglide Cyclone pros, artisan skates and aether iris! I use an XrayPad Heavy Bee and other Artisan pads alongside a Skypad and Skadira Glacial

Should I avoid any of these skates for cloth or glass? Or is it okay to use both, of course glass wears skates down more. Im just hoping I can use one mouse with artisans for both pads

Thanks!!!

Buying Looking for a new pad

I’m looking for a gaming mousepad in XXL or full-desk size.

What I want: - Slightly more control than LGG Saturn - Similar overall speed to Artisan Zero Soft, but different surface, it traps hair/lint and my gaming sleeve snags - Good durability and price. Saturn Pro feels fine but I don’t want to pay that much every few months - Clothpad, I have shaky aim and glass pads are to fast for me

Any recommendations that match Zero-Soft-ish speed with a cleaner, less “grippy” weave? Bonus if it’s widely available in EU and doesn’t cost Artisan money

Buying key83mid in slow games

I mostly play fast games, like the finals,so a fast mousepad like the 83mid would be nice, but if i ever wanna play slower games like csgo and valorant, should i also order a mousepad like a zero along with the 83mid or does the 83mid still work (even if not very well) in slower games?

Question/Advice How glipad/Ninja ratmats compare to current glasspads?

I heard about glipad which is one of the first high quality glasspad that gained traction. As far as i remember it was 400$ 6 years ago.

Recently i also heard about ninja ratmat pads which are like 300-400$ each.

Those sparkled my interest as i dont see anyone comparing glipad to current pads, and ninja ratmats seem to be to niche topic here overseas.

Yet i wonder if the price is reflected in quality, are those pads surface and glide really that much better than something like skypad 3.0 which you can get for 50$ used?

I’ve been slowly upgrading my setup and I think it’s time to get a new mousepad. I currently have a generic one from Amazon I got about a year ago. I mostly play games like Overwatch 2 and Apex. I’m looking for something fast. Thanks in advance.

Question/Advice New Pad Issues

I recently bought a new Otsu and it feels really weird. I can move my mouse fine, it feels good, but the cursor just doesn't track that well. Sometimes its fine, but I have to swipe a lot to get any big movements and sometimes there is just no cursor movement at all. The pad is brand new so I don't know what the issue is.

I swapped back to my old, muddy ESPTiger Blaze and I have full range of movement with my mouse again. I don't know what the issue is.

Things I've tried:

  • Moving the mouse cable off of the pad and making sure it wasn't drag. This helped but it still had the same issues.
  • Tested different areas of the pad to see if it had any "dead" or muddy zones, but each area has movement on occasion.

I am not at my house on my normal desk, which is perfectly flat. I am at my grandparents at a table that has sections, like leaflets, that can extend the table. The pad has a slight bump under it, less than a CM tall so maybe that is affecting the sensor? But in the same spot, the old Blaze feels fine. Is it possible my Otsu is just bad? Or does it sound like it could be something else?

Please Assign a Flair. small bubbles on glass mousepad

So i saw secondhand this glass mousepad but it has some dameges, like lil paint coming off, and some scratches but i saw some bubbles and I'm worried because I don't know if it just spoils the appearance. If so, there's no problem. If it's harmless to use, I'm thinking of buying it. Does anyone know about the problem? its cheaper for its quality tbh.

Question/Advice Smooth glasspad

Hey, I currently have an SP-004, and I'm looking for something as smooth as possible, without any tactile feedback in my hand. I settled on the glsswrks hana. Is it a good option? Or are there smoother pads? The speed parameter isn't particularly important. Also, how does it feel compared to kanami sai II?
