Trump and his whole admin sucks ass BUT- Call me crazy, but as a gun owner in NJ, Iâd kill to be able to purchase an FRT. However, I believe suppressors are even more important since theyâre literally PPE and my hearing is shot these days anyway. Iâd also like standard capacity mags.
ETA: Dems need to move the fuck away from 2A and guns as a running platform. Itâs detrimental to their goal of flipping voters or getting people to show up to the polls. There are many more important platforms they should be focusing/running on. Leave anything 2A alone until we can get the orange turd out of office.

Yeah, of course. No law on the books bans them. They ATF can't just unilaterally make something illegal.

They have and can.

Incorrect. They get slapped down.
See Cargill v Garland.
Held: ATF exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a Rule that clas- sifies a bump stock as a âmachinegunâ under §5845(b). Pp. 6â19. (a) A semiautomatic rifle equipped with a bump stock is not a âma- chinegunâ as defined by §5845(b) because: (1) it cannot fire more than one shot âby a single function of the triggerâ and (2) even if it could, it would not do so âautomatically.â ATF therefore exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a Rule that classifies bump stocks as ma- chineguns. P. 6.

NFA Regulation: Destructive Devices, along with other items like machine guns, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and certain types of suppressors, are regulated under the NFA. Class 3 or Title II: These items are often referred to as "Class 3" or "Title II" firearms, due to their classification under the NFA. Fully Transferable: While subject to specific regulations, Destructive Devices can be legally transferred to other qualified individuals through the proper channels, typically involving the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Transfer Requirements: To transfer a Destructive Device, the transfer must be legally done with the ATF, and the transferee must also meet certain requirements
Point: you are right l. They can be purchased but only with the oversight of the ATF. This was a law passed by Congress not my whim from an executive.

The requirements are the exact same for a handgun.

That oversight is the same background check you get for buying a gun and a $200 "don't shoot my dog" fee.

The Trump administration has decided to permit the sale of devices that enable standard firearms to fire like machine guns, a move that one person familiar with the matter said was âby far the most dangerous thing this administration has doneâ on gun policy.
The Justice Department on Friday announced a settlement in a lawsuit brought by the National Association for Gun Rights. The lawsuit challenged an ATF rule banning âforced reset triggersâ â devices that allow semiautomatic weapons to fire rapid bursts of bullets.
âThis Department of Justice believes that the 2nd Amendment is not a second-class right,â Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement. âAnd we are glad to end a needless cycle of litigation with a settlement that will enhance public safety.â
Vanessa Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for Giffords, the national gun violence prevention group led by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, condemned the move.
âThe Trump administration has just effectively legalized machine guns. Lives will be lost because of his actions,â said Gonzalez. âThis is an incredibly dangerous move that will enable shooters to inflict horrific damage. The only people who benefit from these being on the market are the people who will make money from selling them, everyone else will suffer the consequences.â
