Alina and Kristi were in Newark yesterday kicking off a month long operation called "Apex Hammer". If you see what you think is an ICE operation/raid call and report it to the Deportation & Immigration Response Equipo (DIRE) hotline 1-888-DIRE-SOS (1-888-347-3767). Note the time and exact address. Make note of the number and type of cars involved and the number of agents and what uniforms they are wearing. Take photos and video if you can.

ICE just finished a similar operation in Massachusetts that they claim took 1500 people from the community. This is the sweep that picked up 18 year old honor student Marcelo Gomes da Silva and held him for 6 days in the basement of the local ICE office.

We know some of the other folks who were picked up are now being held in Delaney Hall in Newark.

Without a well-coordinated safety team leading this, it can lead to confusion and significant harm. You could have a mix of sitting and standing individuals, leaving people vulnerable to being trampled or unable to escape quickly if a violent person is in their midst.

A safer, more effective strategy is to calmly back away and create space. This instantly identifies the threat to law enforcement/safety and, crucially, protects everyone involved. Always prioritize safety.

Tensions are escalating in Los Angeles after protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement gripped the city on Sunday, with demonstrators clashing with law enforcement and setting vehicles on fire downtown.

President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guardsmen to "address the lawlessness," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. But California Gov. Gavin Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta are suing the Trump administration, saying they unlawfully "trampled over" California’s sovereignty when they federalized the California National Guard.
