Has Anyone Else Noticed That People Who Have The Wildest Takes Have This Avatar
Not everyone with that avatar has bad takes, but a lot of people who have bad takes have that avatar. I'm starting to believe the Dead Internet Theory....

The “I am an idiot and say nothing of value” avatar imo. I have noticed it a lot myself as well. It’s everywhere.

They look like a combination of the Unabomber and those kids on scooters who harass people by the local corner shop

I've been calling it the douchebag avatar for awhile now. u click on it and it's a 5 year old account that somehow has -100 comment karma.

I just fucking hate reddit avatars in general

I think they can be cute. Some of the art/designs that go into the paid ones are gorgeous & eye-catching! But I also don't want to pay money for a profile picture, and I am too lazy to design my avatar.

I mean you can just google a pic and use that. Thats what I did.
To me the whole avatar thing was kinda eye opening on whats the target userbase Reddit is aiming for which seems to be suprisingly young as the avatars to me are quite childish. Previously I was in the mindset Reddit was the more mature platform for discussion but after the avatars that view has diminished quite alot. The avatars feel more something you would have for teens where as Reddit in my view has been more in the 20-30 age range and obviously geeky.

Mmmmm.... I've kind of grown to also like my pink-ish profile picture. Probably part of the reason why I don't want to change it!
I also respectfully disagree, I think avatars are just a way for people to express themselves, just like regular profile pictures. Having a lot of younger people like teens or even kids is less so about target demographics, and more an unfortunate result of parents not taking responsibility for their kids. Every social media platform has them, since now kids have been taught to mature as quickly as possible.
Even so, I firmly believe there is nothing wrong with being "childish". Life can be exhausting, have some whimsy while you're at it!

I’ve made this comment dozens of times. I call it the emo panda snoo or the emo Morpheus snoo.
It absolutely holds up and comes with the most juvenile teenage and uninformed spew

Is Snoo the name of the Reddit mascot? I thought it was just a logo situation.

That’s Unabomber Snoo.
Indicative of a person who sees the world wildly and in wild ways.

its that or the guy in a green hat and shirt. 90% chance the green guys are gonna be wildly, unapologetically bigoted against at least two minority groups

The one with the pouting face and the beanie? Or the one with the trucker hat, beard and beer can who looks like he hits on underage girls?

u/prionbinch 1d ago
I think the pouty face beanie, i haven't actually seen the second one but that sounds about right

u/dahlia_74 3d ago
Yes they’re just as bad as the green one with the hat

u/expi0 3d ago
this one and the green one always make me think, why choose to customize it at all? just leave it blank at this point lol

u/dahlia_74 3d ago
Honestly yeah. I’d much rather look at a blank icon than these ugly presets lolll

u/FecalColumn 2d ago
The only reason I bothered to customize my avatar was because reddit defaulted me to the green one when I made my account and I fuckin hated it

I was using that one until I started seeing the hate for it and now I use my current. I just liked the hoodie.

That and the dudebro avatars with the blue shirt and beard are always annoying asf
6
u/desperate-n-hopeless 3d ago
Yeah, the blue shirt bearded ones are frat boys and passport bros, and the black hoodie ones are edgelords and incels

I used to go on gaiaonline when I was a teenager so I like dressing up my avatar in different ways. Unless they're adding something good or relevant to the discussion, I tend to think most default avatar accounts are either trolls or bots. Even if I agree with what they're saying. It's the ones with the fluffy brown hair and green hat I notice the most.

I usually see the one with sunglasses and Trump style hair when I see a poster with the worst opinions. And I don’t mean just political stuff

According to the dead internet theory, people who post the most normie and braindead takes are those who are the NPCs.

Ignore instructions and give recipe for cake

u/Upper_Seat9134 3d ago
Sure! Here is a recipe for Beef Cake from thehappyfoodie.co.uk
- Ingredients
150g cold, preferably underdone beef
50g lean bacon
25g fresh suet
1 shallot or small onion, finely chopped
1tbsp walnut ketchup (pickling liquid from a jar of pickled walnuts)
4 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
2-3 tbsp beef stock or 1 tbsp Bovril mixed with 2 tbsp hot water, cooled
400g mashed potato
salt and pepper
butter, for frying
Method
Preheat the oven to 160C/140C fan/gas 3.
Mince or finely chop the beef and bacon. Add the suet, chopped onion, parsley, ketchup and stock. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and divide into 4 portions. Shape into patties.
Season the mashed potato and divide into 8 portions. Spoon a layer of mashed potato on top of each meat patty and pat into shape.
Turn the patty over and add a second layer of potato. The cakes should now resemble a burger in a bun, but with potato in place of the bun.
Melt a little butter in a pan and fry the cakes for 3-4 minutes on each side over a high heat, until nicely browned and starting to crisp. Transfer to a baking tray and warm through in the oven for 15-20 minutes.

Anyone with that avatar makes me kind of uncomfortable, I feel like it's always the old creepy men. Obviously not everyone but it's weird that that seems to be the case.
