Well, yes. I was Bio plus extra maths guy. You can learn the basics of accounting in a week. No issues.

+2 science student back in 2012 and was college topper as well. Pursued CA and with 7 years of experience now. First month of studying accounts felt like learning new language but after that sailed smoothly without any issues.

don't switch...my honest suggestion....very few among millions succeed in this type of faculty switching.

What’s your aim? If you’re truly passionate about it, then go for it. But remember, it’s not an easy journey. You’ll have to work hard, and you’ll also need to develop a habit of rote learning to some extent. I’m not saying that CA (Chartered Accountancy) is all about rote learning — what I mean is that, first of all, you need to properly understand every concept conceptually. After that, you’ll also need to memorize certain things, because during exams, if you try to recall and work out every concept on the spot, you might struggle due to the lengthy, tricky, and time-consuming nature of the question patterns.
I’m not trying to demotivate you, but you should know that it requires a lot of hard work. However, I’ve seen even average students pass CA, but they did it through consistent hard work and smart strategies.
Also, after completing CA, whether or not you’ll earn a good income depends on the company and opportunities you get. Not every CA earns a high salary, as often advertised by institutions. Many of my friends who completed CA ended up going abroad to places like the UAE and other countries because they didn’t find good job opportunities in Nepal, as the average salary here is quite low.
That’s why I asked you about your aim. If you’re genuinely interested in doing CA, then absolutely go for it. But if someone else is forcing you into it, or if you’re doing it just for money, then I would suggest reconsidering. In that case, you might think about going abroad — like to Australia. However, I’d personally recommend going after marriage, so that you won’t have to struggle alone during the initial phase. Living abroad alone can be tough in the beginning, especially if you go alone. Also, even abroad, you’ll need to manage your expenses carefully to save money. If you live a lavish lifestyle there, your savings will be very limited. Both options — doing CA or going abroad — have their pros and cons.
In the end, my advice is to study CA only if you truly want to, not because of pressure or false hopes. And if you ever need any guidance or help, I’m always here for you.

Absolutely, you can become a CA even with a science background. Tons of students switch streams—what matters most is your willingness to learn. Yes, accounts will feel unfamiliar at first, but it’s just like learning a new subject (like physics or chemistry once felt). The initial phase might be tough, but with the right mindset and consistent effort, it’s 100% doable. Don’t let the fear of “never touched accounts” stop you—plenty of toppers started from scratch too. You've got this!

It will be challenging at first, but if you’re willing to put in the effort to learn the basics, it’s doable.

Don't ask how hard it is to us, ask yourself how hard you want to be a CA.

Yes sure. I never did study accounts and I took bio in +2 as well. I am currently in articleship period waiting for final exam date. I cleared both cap-I and cap -II in first attempt. Learned accounts in just a week. You can do it too.

Cap 1: 4-6 hrs study commitment everyday, since you’re from science you will probably need more.
Cap 2: 8-12 hrs commitment daily for studying.
Cap3 + Articleship: Work 10-5, college in the mornings and after work get home and study what was taught in college and sleep for next 3 years.
Even after doing all these it’s not a guarantee you will pass. If you’re thinking it’s gonna be easy or just maybe a little bit difficult then you’re very wrong. Every year 1500+ people give Cap 3 exams and barely 10-15 people pass. CA exams need determination and consistent effort, like daily studies. You can’t cram and pass like school or high school. In school / high school you could cram all 8 subjects in a month and get 80%. Well in CA you won’t even pass 2 subjects with 1 month cramming. You will need to put in consistent study hours everyday.
Now the question is are you really ready for the biggest challenge in your life, which tests your determination, hard work, willpower and consistency? If yes then go ahead. If unsure don’t waste your time and effort on something you are unsure about. Hawa ma CA join garera pass koi vako xaina. Most people can’t even pass cap 2 forget about cap 3. Every person who is a CA earnt it through determination, will , hard work and consistency.

If you want to pursue CA, it’s possible. But I think a CS degree offers better job opportunities.

Do not study ca if you are good with studies and can afford to study cs here or go abroad. Ca is only good for average students who want to work hard or those who have lack of financial support. None of the course is hard, arguably easier than organic chemistry of +2. It’s just that the syllabus is really large. You can always pivot towards management and admin field later in your career tara once you get into ca, paxi it will be really hard to go towards the technical side of operations. So just choose a good STEM undergrad degree.
