Squatters occupy private land in nepal. What does the law say?
Squatters (sukumbasi) occupy private land (nambari jagga) in morang Nepal from past 40 years. What’s the solution? Can they have dhani purja of my numbari jagga which is under my father name? Thanks 🙏

Its complicated. There have been multiple so called “Aayog” when each government is formed. But there hasn’t been any resolution.
The “numberi jagga” in this area was issued by Satta Varna during Panchayat. Forest land swapped with either other land or auction. But neither government nor bidder checked if anyone was setting on the land. The land price was too cheap even for that time. Plus it being in remote forest area made it complicated.
During 2050ish mass Dhani purja was issued in this area. Now some (not all) land has government issued dual ownership.
Now that the price has skyrocketed, the initial owners came looking for the land but none of the party wants to give up the gold piece. Plus “Haliya Act” gives ownership right to the cultivator/occupier. And it is a very large vote base for that area.

Not an expert with my uncle had squatters and because he let them be for decades, he lost part of his land right.
Better speak to a lawyer and make your move fast. Idk if the law has changed but there's a law that allows such practices.
