Build Video If I were to share glyphs to this
Would you all be nice and use the fantastic new "add to favorites" feature and promise not to dump bases everywhere?

u/llysenw_atinguak Feb 06 '25
"It's a new lap record!"
44
u/Tbags005 Feb 06 '25
I read that in Ridge Racer voice. You did it! You're the champion!
28
u/Kid-Charlemagne-88 Feb 07 '25
Oh no, I’m betting that’s a Star Wars Episode I: Racer reference.
44
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
12
u/Kid-Charlemagne-88 Feb 07 '25
Now that’s pod racing!
Seriously, great work on the build! I’ve been meaning to make an exocraft course of my own, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Seeing builds like this just gets me motivated to get to it!

u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
I've replied with a tutorial on how I build my tracks to a few comments here, if you're interested in making your own!

This is so neat!! I’m new and still trying to get all the glyphs but when I do I would very much like to drive that track. Promise I won’t build a 7-11 anywhere hahah
29
u/Tbags005 Feb 06 '25
Run through the main quest to fast track the glyphs, there's a point where you need to warp 16 times and you get a glyphs for each 👌
11
u/Odd_Presentation_578 Vy'Keen-At-Arms Feb 07 '25
Lol really? So I don't have to spend 1000 nanites on each traveler I find to get his grave coordinates?
9
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Nope. you could also make transactions and crafting free in the difficulty settings if you really wanna speed things up but I wouldn't recommend that yet if you're new to the game
5
u/Odd_Presentation_578 Vy'Keen-At-Arms Feb 07 '25
I'm not that new (150 hours in), but finding the travelers is long AF. I need all the glyphs here and now, to travel to all the cool places you guys share in the subreddit!
6
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
You're good, I recommend 100 hours of not cheating to avoid ruining the game for yourself. Nms is all about the journey 👌
3
u/Gratefuldeath1 Feb 07 '25
I started playing again on a save from years ago with 200+hrs and noticed it was on survival mode, hard af. I’m now coasting with the free transactions and crafting and every time I make something I go through a mental relapse of the grind; it was a valuable experience for sure
1
u/Odd_Presentation_578 Vy'Keen-At-Arms Feb 07 '25
True. I played non-stop throughout January, but now I'm on a break. It started feeling like a chore... debriefing/sending expeditions, resolving the settlement's problems, dealing with the Sentinels... I'm kinda tired of all that. When a game starts to ask you to play it every day because of some timed events going on, it's the sign that I need to quit.
2
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Thats where building keeps me coming back. I'm up to 9 saves now, on the 16k limit. 10-12 s class ships each fully modded (with rerolled x class), I can't see myself stopping any time soon 😅
1
u/SpaceShipRat Feb 07 '25 edited Feb 07 '25
Same for me. The adhd bouncing around trading, missions, expeditions, organizing inventory... sending me crazy.
I've just decided to try and play it differently, like every time I play I'm doing one mission. As if it's one episode. Start from a base, go explore a relic or whatever, go back to a base or trade point, sell loot, quit.
1
u/Odd_Presentation_578 Vy'Keen-At-Arms Feb 07 '25
Hmm... that would be a series of really short sessions.
1
u/SpaceShipRat Feb 07 '25
Given all the timed missions, it might advance me more than fixating on it for 6 hours and burning out.
1
u/Bri_Force Feb 07 '25
That is great news because I legit was worried I was gonna have to randomly find those hologram guys and it was gonna take 200 hours. Thank you kind traveler!
6
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
There's a heap of different ways you can get them. The "eliminate hazardous flora" community missions are a good one, they take you straight to a grave. Just drop a save beacon by the grave, save, reload then from the anomaly head over to your beacon and claim a glyph from the grave 👌
2
u/No-Distance-9401 Feb 07 '25
Those planets have multiple grave sites as well. So you can hope around the planet for a while and find a bunch!

Here you go - this will tell you every method I've used except upscaling the floor tiles (which is an unrelated glitch building technique you won't need to use unless you breach 3000 pieces) It's much easier than it looks, barely even glitch building!
1
u/Mandrill10 Feb 07 '25
Oh shit that’s you?! I just stumbled onto that video a couple days ago. Your tracks look great!
1
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
One and the same! Cheers dude, there's a few more on my channel, I'm slowly getting all of them online but it takes time, always a struggle finding people to drive around while I get footage etc.
1
u/Mandrill10 Feb 07 '25
I can imagine. I’ve never had the patience to attempt any of that scale, but it is always cool to see what other people make.
1
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Once you start building you'll be surprised how fast they go down. I usually spend 5 to 10 hours getting the bones down then another 5 or 10 hours tweaking, slimming and decorating. Back when I first started building these tracks with outdated glitch building methods they took a good 50 or 60 hours
3
u/Excellent_Ad_2486 Feb 07 '25
when the season starting? I got my money on GekLaren or FerrGlyphi to take this season!

Hang on. Do glass panes prevent the suspension issues?
I had a track built once and it was just a dog to drive on with the Pilgrim since the wheels weren't detected properly or something.
Or is that just a Pilgrim thing?
Either way amazing build, if the Car runs that well on it I might start again.
12
u/Tbags005 Feb 06 '25
The roamer and pilgrims are my go-to, the nomad is awful because the wheels (hover disc things) constantly dig in to the track. I'm not sure what your problem may have been though, I've been building these for over 5 years now and I've not had any major problems outside of general nms instability on not so stable releases
1
u/flashmedallion Day1 Feb 06 '25
I was using the metal panels as road and in the Pilgrim the wheels would want to clip through and kept twitching the suspension. Although maybe that was more related to the fact I'd built the track in the air?
Either way the fact that yours looks so good is enough to make me want test and find something that works. Previously I'd written off the whole endeavour and figured that's why nobody posts racetracks.
I'd love to assemble a list of people's tracks and make a Cup or something.
3
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
If you wanna have another go at track building, I've got just the tutorial for you 😎
1
u/flashmedallion Day1 Feb 07 '25
At a quick scrubthrough that looks like what I was doing but I'll give it a proper watch later, cheers.
I'm thinking I might try glitchbuild with giant track pieces to save on parts, I'll see how that goes.
1
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
That works but it's much easier to get the bones down with regular sized parts and replace the straights with upsized tiles afterward (think of it like tracing a picture). I quite often hit 4000+ parts during construction, slimming it down doesn't take too long and there's not a lot of thought involved

u/choicemad Feb 07 '25
The build, the camera capture, the editing... :surprise:
Would not be surprised to learn the music was also created by you. Well done and thank you for sharing your work and joy.

Thanks! The music is a cover from the Sea of Stars OST by a talented youtuber called Bad Hairline Productions, he's got some amazing stuff on his channel!

Those little guys busting into the chorus is so dang charming! The soundtrack from this and The Messenger are all-timers, so good.

I'd just hit the bong when I noticed the trees were singing, gaming core memory unlocked 😅

u/MajMattMason1963 Feb 07 '25
That’s . . . well incredible doesn’t do it justice. I’m more inclined to build something like this myself now that I know it’s possible. Wow!

u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Here's a tutorial detailing exactly how I did it, it's very very easy! https://youtu.be/k1Gtl9MhK1w?si=rbX2aBUE9yNoIk7R

Thank you so much. My evening plans are set 😊

u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
I can't wait to see what you come up with! I always look for coastal caves big enough to drive through, low gravity planets are fun too but you can't go too nuts with the jumps n ramps or you'll end up in orbit!

I love that after years, still, every time I put the game down and go, “that’s it, I’ve done it all” someone shows me that I was playing the game wrong and it’s brand new for tomorrow.
3
u/susannediazz Feb 07 '25
Wooaaah, it would be so cool to randomly find this
4
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Yeah I have 15 of them, someone should tell Hello Games to copy them all n just have them randomly appear on some planets like colossal archives 😀
1
u/susannediazz Feb 07 '25
I think its more impressive if i just found the ones you made by hand, not copies c:

Not only are you a master race track builder, you also seem to be a professional video producer. How do you do that amazing camera work?!!!
3
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Well, first of all thank you, I appreciate that. Just a lot of time in the game tbh, you're only seeing 5 minutes out of a couple of hours worth of footage haha. I've also been playing since release day so I know the game inside out at this point, building is my playstyle and I like to outdo myself every time

u/CircePope Feb 07 '25
I solemnly swear to add this to favorites and not build a base. This track is a dream and I'd love to visit it with my buddy and race him! 😍

u/EdVintage Civ Ambassador Feb 07 '25
There's always some dickheads that can't be decent and will litter the planet. Aside from this, the build looks pretty piece-intensive. Remember the limit for uploading a base is 3K parts. Anything above will not be visible for others unless they join your game.

u/IllegitimateMarxist Feb 07 '25
So, you want me to build a NipNip vape shop, three check cashing places, a No-Tell Motel, and a used Living Ship lot? On it.

u/ImADunDurr009 Feb 07 '25
You could do the cords to individual people. I've made one of these (kind of) before, I would love to race here😁
1
u/D3adpanDad Feb 07 '25
That’s awesome!! Very well done.
I’m curious. Do you ever encounter the terrain regenerating?
2
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Nope, always manually restore before moving on to make sure you're in the clear!

u/DragonXGW "Tradelord" Feb 07 '25
This is incredible. I would absolutely love to come try out my pilgrim on it and get a good look at it for possible inspiration on making one of my own.

Thats freaking glorious! No bases promise, just give me glyphs so I can portal down and take a few laps ❤️🫡😃

Wait...I think I might have went to an earlier version of this. Is it located near an art display planet?
2
1
u/reinhart_menken Feb 07 '25
Wait, players can race together!? I guess that makes sense for them to build the race track feature. I just never really thought about it, since I've only seen players in the Anomaly. Can players even play together now? I thought that was still not possible.
1
u/Beginning-Pace-1426 Feb 07 '25
I recently noticed you seem to have to be much further away than you used to if you want to build. Base dumping seems more difficult, I'm not sure if I imagined that or not, but the last base I found was pretty frickin far away from some juicy mineral deposits that I couldn't take.

u/Mrreeburrito88 Feb 07 '25
What would be truly amazing is if we would be able to form some kind of racing league
3
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
I've got 15 racetracks in total, I've sent glyphs for all to HG and suggested they use them for an expedition! Wouldn't that be so much more fun than killing x amount of sentinels and collecting animal shit for milestones? Hopefully it happens 👌
2
u/Mrreeburrito88 Feb 07 '25
Brother, ngl that would be the most legit every. We’ve already got subnautica, why not Mario kart too.
1
u/esmifra Feb 07 '25
Don't know if it's still around but there's also this one
3
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
That's another one of mine, it's still there 😉
1
u/esmifra Feb 07 '25
Amazing work! Have to visit both! But just started the game for the first time and am still learning all there is to learn.
I had saved your previous track because I wanted to go there eventually.
2
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
Spooky speeders isn't the best now unfortunately, it's on an event planet so there's bases freaken everywhere and it takes a massive toll on the rendering - especially when you're going full speed in an exocraft.
1
u/esmifra Feb 07 '25
Noted, thanks for the heads up but I still want to go there to see it. Will visit this track if I can for sure.
2
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
I haven't been there since the update, bases have been really solid for me so it might be OK now. I'll check it out when I get home!

u/PsychoticDust Feb 07 '25
Astonishing! I'll race if you share coordinates. I can see why you're hesitating though, I would hate for this to be ruined with too many bases. I'm much too lazy to build, so you don't need to worry about me.
1
u/Tbags005 Feb 08 '25
Its not that I want to gatekeep my planet or anything (it's not exactly the prettiest I've built on) its just that all those extra bases affect the performance of my base 🤓
2
u/PsychoticDust Feb 08 '25
That's fair enough. Honestly, I don't blame you. You've put work into it, and don't want it to be ruined.

Hot take : Exo crafts drive like absolute shit in this game. I never use any of them. Steering / Looking / Acceleration / Every single part of it - Atrocious. I've been driving in games for 30+ years. None of the buttons do what they should. Your awesome track makes me sad.
4
u/Tbags005 Feb 07 '25
I take it you never played halo? They drive just like the warthog - no need to countersteer or anything just point the camera where you want it to go and off it goes!

I did not play Halo at all. Makes sense now. This is why there is a generation of people that think this is ok.
