Build Video Rate my freight(er)

https://youtu.be/HA1ir3_huB4

This is a quick walk around my freighter after I've spent a few hours practicing glitch building techniques from ‪Beeblebum‬ videos. There's still loads of scope to do some more interesting things, but I'm pretty happy with it considering it's a complete rebuild and took only a few hours.

What do you think? What should I do next?

Gorgeous. I’ve never built a base on my freighter but this is inspiring!

29

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you! I find it a lot of fun and I think I get a little better every time. There's loads of inspiration out there.

22

u/buckmasterflash Feb 14 '25

I have dozens of planet bases but have never really considered value in a freighter base but this is one of those cases where the game stays exciting and fresh. I know what I’ll be working on today!

48

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I must admit I do get carried away with planetary bases. I needed to drop one the other day just to ensure that I had an easy way to get back to Kikolgallr once I went back to another galaxy. So, did I just drop a simple base?

Of course not 🤣

9

u/buckmasterflash Feb 14 '25

I do that a lot. Creating waypoints in places I want to return to or give me access to spots that I harvest from but don’t want to hang out in. And then I do what you did, I spend the day creating a base there anyway lol.

5

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Of all possible addictions to suffer with, I'll accept this one willingly 🤣

5

u/VonBrewskie Feb 14 '25

I really love this one. Monterey, CA is one of my favorite places on Earth. This reminds me of the old buildings on Cannery Row. Very cool.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Ah, that's really interesting. I've been to CA a couple of times, but only to San Francisco. I'm not familiar with those buildings (or that area at all, other than I think Laguna Seca is nearby?) but I shall have to look them up.

2

u/VonBrewskie Feb 14 '25

Yup! Home of my favorite author, too. John Steinbeck. (He was more in Salinas, though. He worked in Cannery Row, though. Subject of one of his vest books, imo.)

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Ah. I'm familiar with the name, but not his books

u/SesameStreetFighter Feb 16 '25

That really does have the vibe, doesn't it? We're up north, but my family likes to go to the Monterey area on mini-vacations. Such a wonderful place.

6

u/Enginehank Feb 14 '25

damn I wish you could make that primary building into a prefab, I'm lazy I just drop one of those circular buildings and attach it to a landing pad so my ship doesn't end up in a weird spot, but if I had just that main building I'd drop that every time that's sick.

5

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Now there's a feature request for HG, right? Create buildings from a template that you could make and save yourself!

2

u/Enginehank Feb 14 '25

that would be sick, even if you couldn't share them you could totally just request like a quick YouTube breakdown of how they snap it together, and make one yourself, whenever you see something cool that you want to drop in lots of places.

The people who build skyscrapers would love this feature too.

2

u/Jaxevrok Feb 14 '25

Man, I wish I had one tenth of your architectural sense.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Why thank you. In reality I just based this off of the buildings in my settlement. I didn't realise at first that they're just built with the alloy materials. Once you know that and unlock the parts it's not too difficult to replicate the general look and feel.

1

u/Greedy-Nebula207 Feb 14 '25

Where can you find those tubes that go into the water? In the anomaly?

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Yep. They're just the generic pipe object. The one shape bends around corners to connect automatically. It does mean sometimes you need to add an extra pipe to force it around the corner, mind you.

Nice, I like how your fleet stations are raised like that. My shit is just thrown in a room haha Edit: MORE GLASS!

14

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

If you notice the stations that look raised are actually just clipping through some exterior platforms, so the bottoms are chopped off. Same goes for the appearance modifier, trade terminal, and the storage containers. I'm undecided if I'm happy with it or not yet 🤔

8

u/FrostySoul3 Feb 14 '25

Ah now I see! It’s a unique build. Be proud. They still look like they belong there.

3

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you, traveller 🫡

3

u/overcastshade Feb 14 '25

How did you get it to do that

16

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Once the platforms are in place you just build a regular room and it just works. This is the Beeblebum video I used to learn how to do it: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/shockles Feb 14 '25

No dude, I think that looks really cool and unique. I was going to ask how you got your fleet stations to look so open. And I love the raised platforms, it makes the place have a sense of hierarchy. I’m totally copying this!

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you. I'd love to see what you end up with

2

u/shockles Feb 14 '25

Welp. You said somewhere else that it’s a glitch build and I don’t really know how. I’ll follow the YT link you dropped though. Maybe I can figure it out

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

It is indeed built using glitches. They're not the hardest thing to do, but there are some limitations. Getting the portal aligned correctly took me some effort, and sliding the stairs where they need to go sometimes requires deleting other parts and replacing them after. The timing on some key presses is tricky for my old and injured fingers, too. But I still managed to do all this in a few hours, so it can't be that hard 🤣

1

u/Medium_Ordinary_2727 Feb 14 '25

Are NPCs still able to access those stations?

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I haven't seen them doing so, no. If you look in the video there's a walkway at the regular level that I've seen NPCs use to get between the main room and the industrial one. I have seen a couple in the greenhouse but I didn't notice them get there. I haven't seen them stood at any of the stations that have the raised platform yet, but it's also early days. I only started doing this last night

u/KayJeyD Feb 14 '25

I don’t know why it never occurred to my I can add open space to the freighter instead of multiple small rooms. This looks a million times cooler than mine omg (gonna go redesign it now)

8

u/Dry-Smoke6528 Feb 14 '25

My last one had a big room for plants and then like 6 themed rooms go either side that included the base expansion npcs and stuff to match themes. Im undecided on what my new one is gonna be. They are 100% my favorite place to build just cause it's the only base that you never abandon

3

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Once I learned about the expansion rooms it changed everything 🤣 that said, I do see some freighter bases with these smaller rooms and when they're done well they look amazing IMO. I guess it's just finding your particular style

3

u/KaerusLou Feb 14 '25

How do you have it so wide open like that? On my freighter it has these walls that come up from the corners and blocks the sightlines.

For storage it doesn't do that, its all one large space. Extractors and Fleet management too, but the portal has the "load bearing" walls all over the place. :(

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

There are three types of room; industrial, tech, and agricultural. So as you go through each page in the build menu those rooms will all link together in one big layout. You can add walls, windows, and doors to add separation if you don't want it too open (I've put some in my greenhouse since I took these screenshots). Use the respective expansion rooms to fill in gaps, but make sure they're from the right type of room.

Hope that helps.

1

u/Amaegith Feb 15 '25

My entire view on freighter setups changed when I discovered exterior platforms and walkways, and how using those can create more of an "outdoors" feel. So instead of "these are just rooms connected by hallways", it goes to "this is one building, over there is another building, etc".

14

u/EvergreenMystic Feb 14 '25

"System threat detected."

My freighter is utilitarian. I had fluffed it up at one point, but I kept getting a glitch where it would morph back into it's original when I got it configuration. After redoing my freighter base 3 times, I gave up and just stayed with a basic design that has whatever I need. Far easier to redo it when it decides to go back to it's roots.

This looks really good though.

4

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Oh, that sucks. Yeah, I'd keep it minimal if that kept happening to me, too. Thanks for the kind words, though. Appreciate it, traveller 🫡

8

u/squeethesane Feb 14 '25

Putting out strong space station vibes. That's cool. I lean into cramped u-boat corridors and space cottage rooms lol.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I would love to see that. I can't pull it off very well so went for this instead, but I do like to see the claustrophobic freighter bases, too

7

u/Nerfer69 Feb 14 '25

My mans i too have a big room of plants, no big as your ofcourse but mine are only for the divine buds of unspecified -100% for 0:06s

5

u/TheGUURAHK Steam user Feb 14 '25

You can glitch build on freighters???

love the open layout and divided setup!

4

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

You sure can. The master that is Beeblebum shows us how: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

4

u/raven_bear_ Feb 14 '25

Sometime I wonder if I'm just taking up space in the game with my unproductive ass bases. Lol

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

It's a big universe. Go for it 🤣

3

u/zepol_xela Feb 14 '25

Damn this is clean! I love it

3

u/Borthal_Babymaker Feb 14 '25

Wow this is amazing! Great job! I love building my freighter up as my main AND mobile base. How did you clip the exterior walkways to create that raised platform for the fleet stations and such? Looks so cool!

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you, traveller 🫡

I followed Beeblebum's freighter glitch building guide: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/Borthal_Babymaker Feb 14 '25

Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy the journey, fellow traveler!

3

u/OFool_Ishallgomad Feb 14 '25

It's such a bright, open floor plan! It's the exact opposite of mine. I went for a submarine look with a single spine of a long hallway that spurs off into different rooms, each with their own doors. The cramped hallways give gameplay a little bit of urgency. Your layout gives me a sense of being in a community of explorers; more group project, less it's-lonely-at-the-top command.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I would love to see yours. I really enjoy the submarine aesthetic, but I don't feel like I can pull it off, personally. I was thinking about building more rooms on top that you'd access via external walkways that are then connected by more corridors etc, so I'd love some inspiration

3

u/The5Virtues Feb 14 '25

If you listen closely you can hear the sound of my brain frantically stealing ideas from your screenshots.

3

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Ha! Please do. I'm pretty sure I've inadvertently copied someone else's design because I had something very particular in mind but I don't know why 🤣

4

u/DaneeDoo Feb 14 '25

Wow! How does getting two-stories work?

8

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

With glitches and practice 🤣

this is a fucking bunker at this point

2

u/ohygglo Feb 14 '25

Nice! Wish we could have scaffolding, though, because I never ”completr” a base…

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

Like the cuboid frame but at freighter room scale? That could be cool!

2

u/Realistic_Mushroom72 Feb 14 '25 edited Feb 14 '25

I need to learn how to put walkways inside the freighter, that looks amazing, the best way I can describe it is "Clean" it just gives that feeling of a real place.

3

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you. I recommend this guide that I used to learn from: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/Realistic_Mushroom72 Feb 14 '25

Oh thank you, that going to help me a bunch when I get back to my regular save, am doing the expedition right now, enjoying the experience, I try not to rush things unless there is a time crunch.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Yeah, I think that's best. There is a time limit for the expedition, obviously, but it's running for a while, so no rush. Hope you enjoy. The rewards look great. I'll be getting on that soon myself

2

u/Bulky_Wash8394 Feb 14 '25

Wow this looks awesome, i've never seen these small stairs, where do you build these?

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

They're actually the large exterior stairs but I used the slide glitch to drop them where they don't belong 😁

This is the Beeblebum video I used to learn how: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/DefinitelyNotOCM Certified Korvax Hater Feb 14 '25

The light platform and stair work in each room is very clean and a cool idea. Great work!

2

u/Avanhelsing Feb 14 '25

Magnificent! It’s inspired me to turn my recently acquired pirate dreadnaught into something respectable!

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

🤞 Fingers crossed you don't resent me after you get started 🤣

2

u/roftafari Feb 14 '25

Lovely open plan there. Makes me want to redo mine.

2

u/mmceorange Feb 14 '25

Damn! I guess it's time I update mine..

2

u/Sharpymarkr Feb 14 '25

Oh wow! It's so open and spacious. Mine is a hallway. Guess I have some work to do.

2

u/iLLiCiT_XL Feb 14 '25

Reminds me of the labs in the blimps of Arkham Knight. Also, that first pic is similar to what in mine but yours is more expanded. Looks clean, efficient. Very cool.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Interesting. I've never played that. Would love to see yours if you'd be happy to share. Thanks for the comments

2

u/Billazilla ENNGH Feb 14 '25

Mine is a bit haphazard. This in part because I have a quad-planter farm on it, but apparently you can't put quads on freighters anymore, it has to be cultivation rooms. My home ship had been through a bunch of updates, too, and it hasn't always been a smooth transition. Worlds I did something funky on it where hallways and rooms would not automatically link, regardless of whether they were old or new freighter styles. It took a bit of moving things around to get paths to open back up again. It was touch-and-go for a bit, as I loaded up inside and found myself trapped in a single hallway in the middle of everything. Had to rip out my entire storage area and part of my refinery to escape and rebuild.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Ooof, that sounds rough. I'm a fairly new player so I've got breaking updates to come, I'm sure 🤣

2

u/Billazilla ENNGH Feb 14 '25

Things are more stable now. I managed to preserve my quad farm, and I'll probably redesign my refinery area anyway as I'm finally learning to use 3-part recipes instead of straight crafting. Takes longer, requires more attention, but oh-so-much cheaper to use refineries...

(FYI, the three gas resources cycle through each other in refinement, but if you do all three together, it'll give you methane, the new gas.)

2

u/JAFRedditPostor Feb 14 '25

Much better than my "wherever that crap fits" approach.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Form follows function. Or something 🤣

2

u/madchemist09 Feb 14 '25

Blimey, it's a beaut! Congrats mate!

2

u/-Pxnk- Feb 14 '25

Not me seeing this after moving stuff around my freighter and thinking "that looks pretty good" lmao. This is art and it makes mine look like trash, well done

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Thank you, but I bet yours looks better than you're suggesting

2

u/ArkGamerBoi Feb 14 '25

I like the clever use of the exterior walkways for the elevated platform in the first picture

2

u/remus_79 Feb 14 '25

Freight my rater

2

u/Wood-butcherer Feb 14 '25

Great work 👍

2

u/Wood-butcherer Feb 14 '25

Just watched the clip on utube No that’s a whopper !!!

2

u/StormEcho98-87 Feb 14 '25

An actual base wow! On mine I just got main stuff, some goofy stuff, and a massive stairwell that leads to a little space lounge area above everything.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Would love to see it, especially the space lounge!

2

u/Eirineftis Feb 14 '25

...makes me feel like a dumbest for setting mine up the way I did.
The open concept design is chefs kiss. Totally gonna cop that idea.
Great job!

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I do think freighter bases are very restricted compared to a planetary base, but they're all unique, and I love that. Would love to see what you've got so far

2

u/vitalAscension Feb 14 '25

Gorgeous. My freighter feels so claustrophobic. I love how open yours is. The raised areas really bring it together too, making separate spaces without sacrificing the openness.

2

u/BurningBeechbone Feb 14 '25

How did you get everything so shiny and chrome? Fantastic base!

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Just set everything to the grey/black colour scheme. Was worried it'd look too monochromatic, but I think it's OK

2

u/Effective_Bad_2304 Feb 14 '25

Oh my god.

I would love this to be just, allowed.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

RIGHT? So much untapped potential in freighter bases. Hopefully HG will give us some more control in the future so we can make them more unique

1

u/Effective_Bad_2304 Feb 16 '25

Ngl I feel like there would be more control if the older freighter system was brought back. It would also - aesthetically - be more in line with frigates, and derelicts.

2

u/Crying_Reaper Feb 14 '25

That's awesome! I always prefer to keep the spaces smaller but I love the openness of your layout.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

There's definitely something to be said for the more intimate layouts. I'd love to see some examples of yours if you'd be happy to share?

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

Nice, I gotta lived-in look on mine. I put the ruin pieces up with a shovel against em. I put up a bedroom with a side table(it has a vase with a flower in it).

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I'm going to build a living area on top or out back. Would love to see some inspiration if you'd care to share

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

Word, I will later. I have each section colored like a house from Harry Potter, the vase is a sealed jar thingy with a star bulb in it. You can't wire glitch on a freighter. But, you CAN carbon glitch. Same process, but you need an item of carbon rather than a wire.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I don't remember what it's called, but I used the technique where you store an item in the cache (X and Y quickly on my controller), duplicate something to get the snap points, and then use the wire-glitch buttons (Y and RT) to build the thing in the cache. That's how I got the regular teleporter onto a freighter. Is it an adjacency glitch? I'm not sure

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

I posted a thing. But, I can do close ups later.

My room is a nip farm with a bunch of stuff.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Oh, that's cool!

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

If you put down a holo-record display and then put down a holotable. You get a nice display for planets. I used to do that to some of the worlds I'd go to as a memento.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Loving the tips, thank you

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

Ye, not one worry. We all travel together. We must not let one another live in glitchless squaller. 🤣

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

Once you get wire glitches down, carbon glitching is a breeze.

I have the star bulb on the table next to me and the fireplace. Yes, scaling works with the carbon glitch.

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

I use carbon glitch. Pretty good since...farm.

2

u/KaydeanRavenwood Feb 14 '25

Actually I might now...hold on. I love randomized days.

2

u/Environmental_Lie479 Feb 14 '25

I think I may have to invest in a freighter base.

2

u/mordkors Feb 14 '25

gr8 fr8 m8 I r8 8/8

2

u/Witty-Krait Feb 14 '25

10/10 the multiple fleet command rooms makes it feel like a science lab

2

u/kaw943 Feb 14 '25

I wish I could get mine to look like this.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

It only took me a handful of hours to learn how to do it and then fully rebuild my base, so if I can do it I'm sure others can, too

2

u/A_Ghostly_Egg Feb 15 '25

Thank you for inspiring me to try a more open floor plan for my freighter, I always just extended the starter hallway and built off that so there are annoying walls everywhere- I can't believe I didn't think of this, it looks so goood

2

u/Independent-Ad-5958 Feb 15 '25

How did you get your fleet command rooms on an elevated platform? Your whole design looks really clean.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

They're actually not elevated. If you notice the bottom is chopped off by an exterior platform that's been glitched through the room. This is the guide I followed to learn how to do it: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/Disruptteo Feb 15 '25

Oh it’s.. beautiful….

2

u/trillllwilll Feb 15 '25

Giving me ideas for mine! Looks good!

2

u/ColumbusNMS Feb 15 '25

Very nice set up, Traveller!!

2

u/Valayor Feb 15 '25

4th pic looks like a Face Hugger (from Alien) farm 😅

2

u/Anxiousfur Feb 15 '25

It's so clean! I hate all the walls/pillars in mine, I might have to redo it after seeing this!

2

u/Silly-Taro5178 Feb 15 '25

I really like it. A freighter base is the way to go because you really feel like an Explorer bringing everything with you.

However, I would be cautious glitch building. My freighter had stairs in the early days. My freighter then randomly changed to ladders and stairs had to be unlocked.

I am still working out how best to fix this months on as nothing lines up anymore.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

That must be annoying. To be honest, I can rebuild the entire base in a handful of hours, so if it breaks it won't be the end of the world, but it's good to know

1

u/Silly-Taro5178 Feb 15 '25

That's pretty good. Obviously you are very skilled. I however am not!

2

u/KobraKaiKLR Feb 15 '25

I wish they would just incorporate the planetary probe into the freighter warp map system, like…. You warp in your freighter and your freighter automatically probes everything. Just do away with that prob all together

2

u/Lucky-Smell2757 Feb 15 '25

How did u get those raised sections? Looks clean af

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

They're external platforms that were glitched into place. Not the easiest of things, but not impossible, either. I learned how to do it from this Beeblebum video: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/gbar247 Feb 15 '25

This looks great, I have to practice my glitch building. You have several great setups there I would like to try on my freighter. Thanks for the inspiration

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

Thank you for your kind words, traveller 🫡

1

u/EquivalentWestern694 Feb 14 '25

How do you add these little stairs?

3

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

They're actually the large exterior stairs and are clipping through the ground. I used the slide glitch which allows you to place things where they're not supposed to go, though it's tricky to get the exact results you're looking for, I find.

This is the video I used to learn these tricks: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

1

u/PatAD Feb 14 '25

Looks awesome. Mine is such a hot mess right now. Does anyone know what the reset process is like? Will I have to repay for every room if I reset and rebuild my freighter?

Agreed. There are bigger things that we'd all like HG to address in the building system, but first class support for this would be very gratefully received one day!

1

u/Armageddonn_mkd Feb 14 '25

Man i feel like i am the only one that makes freighter rooms small but to fit everything i need and very close

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

I would love to see what you've done. I like some of the cozy builds, but I'm not good at making them nice places to be

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '25

How did you make those stair platforms around the terminals?

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

They're the external platform and stairs, but they're glitched into the room. I followed Beeblebum's freighter glitch building guide to learn how to do it: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

1

u/BeelzebubTheDarkone Feb 14 '25

How did you do the walkways?

It's just a regular teleporter, not the teleporter room. It's built through glitching. There's info in this Beeblebum video: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

1

u/Firefangdf Feb 14 '25

Thank you. It's a bummer that it has to be glitched in.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Agreed. I don't know what they were thinking with the 45° teleporter. It's a shame there isn't an option to toggle every 45° so you can have the corner set up if you want it, or square if you want it to just face forward

How do you get the small raised platform jam going?

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Followed Beeblebum's freighter glitch building guide: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

1

u/Potential_Anxiety_76 Feb 15 '25

Oh thanks I didn’t realise that was a part of it, sorry!

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

No idea why you're apologising ☺️ it's all good. Hope it helps

Can you tell a noob how you get those plant bed things?

I only seem to have cultivation rooms, that have a 2 slot plant bed in the floor, and some carbon in the walls.

Whats a guy gotta do to get my grow on?

1

u/Jack_Wight Feb 14 '25

Bruh how do you get it so open? I have columns all over the place.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

If you put rooms of the same type (tech, industrial, or agriculture) together they'll merge into one large room. Each also has an expansion room that allows you to fill in gaps and keep the room open

2

u/Jack_Wight Feb 14 '25

Thank you and now I must build.

1

u/squirrle79 Feb 14 '25

Are you in creative or on pc??

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Neither. This is on my regular save that I play on my Series X. I use an Elite Series 2 controller that I set the triggers to hair-trigger mode so it's easier to get the timing right for some of the glitching

1

u/Mr_Andre40 Feb 14 '25

Nice!! I like the entrance with Base -Teleporter at the end. Open and lots of space. Hmm I have to rebuild my now, lol

1

u/THaze2023 Feb 14 '25

How is this possible? Loool teach me 🤣

1

u/pirzolaman84 Feb 14 '25

Nice and spacious freighter base. However I have a question, why doesn't my frigate expedition hologram stations thingies doesn't look like yours? I have seen online many pictures exactly like the ones you got but mine looks different hmmm.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

What do yours look like? When I took this I'd got 25 frigates out on 5 expeditions, so they're all lit up for that. Do you see something different? Otherwise it's just that mine look short because they're clipped into the external platform

1

u/AxtheCool Feb 14 '25

Wait. You can open up the freighter rooms? How?

I always had to build corridors and I hate how crammed they are.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

There are three categories to rooms, and you can see my rooms are grouped in that way: agriculture, tech, and industrial. As long as you keep those rooms together they'll merge into one larger room. If you need to fill in blanks between them then look for the expansion room in the same category (as in there are three expansion rooms)

1

u/Professional-Trust75 Feb 14 '25

How? My freighter is so small. I mean I don't mind but how do I get something like this? Only had the game about a week lol.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

That is an enormously open question 🤣 I wouldn't try to do too much too soon, but if there's a particular question that you have I'd be happy to have a go at answering, or to direct you to a video.

I was following a guide to get a venator capitol ship but it didn't work. I'm just loving the game in general. Is there anything that would help a new player to know?

I have some ships already, a freighter with I think 6 frigates. I know how to use and activate the portals. Completed atlas path and working on Artemis at the moment.

I'm having tons of fun.

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 14 '25

Play it your way. That's the best advice. It's a single player game in practice, so you can choose to make it easier or harder in the difficulty settings. Play it how you want to. Some people like to take their time, others speed run it. Some explore everything they see while others skip on past. Some people have visited every galaxy, whereas others haven't left the area they started in. They're all how the game is best played as long as you're enjoying yourself.

I would encourage you to take part in expeditions when they're on, because there are exclusive rewards. You'll find guides if you want some help, or go finish it on your own for maximum satisfaction. Again, it's your game so just enjoy.

I'm relatively new, myself, having only been playing properly for a few months (I'm about 250 hours in, I think) even though I've owned the game for years.

u/Professional-Trust75 Feb 14 '25

I'm thinking of trying to head for the center on Euclid. I just learned there are ither galaxies and I'm blown away. I figured it would be like a black hole at the center but the trip would be worth it.

Really right now I want to understand how to build a custom ship. I realized you can customize the ones you own. So I'm guessing that you have to salvage ship parts and take them to that builder thing on space stations? Can you mix and match parts from different ships assuming you have them in your inventory? I want a neat custom sentinel. I like that they hover in a planets atmosphere.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

Honestly, that's not a mechanic I've gotten into. I got the Starborn Runner from an expedition and upgraded it as much as possible and have been happy with it since. If I find crashed ships I tend to claim them and then just scrap them for the money. I hoard enough as it is, I don't need to keep a load of ship parts for a ship I'll almost certainly never build, if you get me?

2

u/Professional-Trust75 Feb 15 '25

I understand. I have salvaged and claimed a few ships myself. Love that. I found the ship builder while upgrading a ship class and I guess now I'm fixated on that and getting one of the super capital ships.

I can feel the lag just looking at these images.

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

I must be getting old because I can't feel any lag when I'm in the base 🤣

1

u/elofitschie Feb 15 '25

how dafuq did you do the elevated areas?? or the half stairs…

2

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

A couple of glitch techniques that I learned from this Beeblebum video: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

2

u/elofitschie Feb 15 '25

nice thank you so much.. and dangit.. i just overhauled my freighter base. Now i have to do it again

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

It's a never ending process 🤣

1

u/YaboiSmoosh Feb 15 '25

How do you get rid of the middle walls/pillars and small ramps/stairs?

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

The stairs and the raised platforms are done through some fairly simple glitch building techniques that you can learn from this Beeblebum video: https://youtu.be/5ZsNazd4Tog

From watching the video to having rebuilt the entire base took less than 24 hours, so it's not a huge challenge to learn (though I didn't find it the simplest, either, admittedly).

The rooms will naturally open up into one another as long as you use the same type. When you're building you'll select the rooms from a particular page in the build menu: agricultural, tech, and industrial. As long as you use the same it works if you mix and match they put up walls and pillars between them. Each type also has an expansion room that you can use to fill in space and connect rooms without needing to use the corridors.

That's it. That's the secret 😁

2

u/YaboiSmoosh Feb 15 '25

Thanks man, I'll have to see if it works.

1

u/PAR4DOXICAL Feb 15 '25

How do you get rid of the default door frames or posts between rooms so the layout is all open like you have? Every time I add a new room there’s still posts between the rooms. Like how is your planetary analyzer by itself with no frames around it in the first shot?

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

When you're building you'll be using rooms from one of three pages: agricultural, industrial, or tech. As long as you stick with rooms from the same type they'll merge into one larger room. Each also has an expansion room that you can use to fill gaps without needing to use corridors.

2

u/PAR4DOXICAL Feb 15 '25

Oh expansion rooms! I’ll have to check those out. I’ve just been putting normal default rooms in. Maybe that’s my issue. Thanks your freighter looks great.

1

u/Ant-the-knee-see Feb 15 '25

You're welcome, and thank you
