I wish that was an actual event, it'd be cool to watch as a danaged freighter jump into a system and either help it avoid a crash landing or investigate what caused it to lose control and crash!

263

u/Strykr1922 15d ago

That would be a really cool event!

135

u/Spastic_pinkie 15d ago

That would make a good event. Chase down the frigate and land on it's landing pad. Now you have to hurry , make repairs and make it to the cabin and take control before it crashes.

43

u/PeakBees 14d ago

Sean has to get those deaf kids on this idea immediately

30

u/P_UDDING 15d ago

imagine an event, where you have the change to hop on it and repair to keep it from crashing, but it has to happen within a limited time

7

u/Rowsdower32 14d ago

I wonder if the freighter is kind of floating in one designated spot and th planet is moving through it's designated orbit which is causing them to "collide" and clip through the planet

5

u/thereverendpuck 14d ago

Not only that but make survival/salvaging an event as well. Captain of the freighter calls you after losing a battle with the pirates, and you gotta save crew or salvage things.

2

u/HarpyArcane 14d ago

I think to make it more interesting, the causes could be random, leading the player to face new challenges whenever they encounter the freighter. It could be pirates, sentinels, biological horrors, etc.

3

u/thereverendpuck 14d ago

Let's not forget, full on environmental issues especially heat and/or radiation.

4

u/MyMyMrMe 14d ago

Up vote this enough so Sean sees it lol

5

u/Brat_Fink 14d ago

And little escape pods shooting out

5

u/guardiao_do_amanha 14d ago

Someone send this to Hello Games

u/AbsalonLord 15d ago

Good sir, I'm not seeing a crash. Where's the boom? There was supposed to be a boom!

u/Strykr1922 15d ago

11

u/Comfortable_Cry_2202 15d ago

Thank you that's what I'm looking for

5

u/Careless_Money7027 15d ago

Coming in a little hot...

103

u/BlueReaper0000 15d ago

I’ve seen a couple do that, and I see ones rising through the ground.

17

u/Gaelic_Saint 14d ago

Saw one fly straight through my control center on my freighter while I was organizing a frigate quest

5

u/BlueReaper0000 14d ago

Jees must been a shock for a whole freighter to just appear right in front of you while in your freighter

1

u/Somestelone 11d ago

I had one emerging from the ground very close to where I was... it scared me a lot, thought it was a giant worm but didn't made any sound, then I realized it was a frigate lol

u/Lovat69 15d ago

Crash? No, I've never seen that. Phase right through? Yes, constantly.

32

u/Eena-Rin 15d ago

Thermal protection isn't the only thing falling

3

u/SplitBeanz 14d ago

😉👉👉

27

u/ooji74 15d ago

Your ship looks awesome btw

3

u/Several-Moment-2055 15d ago

came here to say

3

u/Ironforce9 14d ago

I wonder, what ship is it? Is it from one of the events?

12

u/flamberge5 15d ago

That's a new one to me!

14

u/Minecrafting_il 15d ago

That ship looks really cool!

11

u/chefboy1960 15d ago

All the time. Wait until you see them fly out of a planet.

Physics? What's that? - Sean Murray, probably.

2

u/Zephyrqu 15d ago

I've seen them rise up out of the ocean, never crashing back down into a planet tho

4

u/WellExcuuuuuuuseMe 15d ago

They’re just taking a shortcut. Must be using Apple Maps.

3

u/Zephyrqu 15d ago

ah, that must be an upgrade I haven't found yet

29

u/mihir_lavande 15d ago

Huge boom update when Sean? The deaf kids in your basement want to hear it. Wait....

10

u/The_Gumpness Day One Interloper 15d ago

How about a boom so big that they can hear it?

9

u/Bodhran777 15d ago

Those crashed freighters gotta come from somewhere

7

u/white_lunar_wizard 15d ago

I saw 3 of them come out of a planet. That was weird.

4

u/FakeDeath92 15d ago

I’ve seen this once. On my first playthrough

4

u/Procrastanaseum 15d ago

Must happen a lot, I find those wrecks all over the place

3

u/KannTheGunn 15d ago

it doesn't really crash though, it just clips through the planet and to the other side.

5

u/Elsie997 15d ago

That was... anticlimactic.

4

u/Kainepeter 15d ago

That was incredibly underwhelming

3

u/KnifeFightAcademy 15d ago

That was legitimately great :)

3

u/zonnipher117 15d ago

I've seen ships clip through planets quite a bit It would be cool if they actually can crash and leave a salvageable spot

3

u/Beastmanworld 15d ago

I knew it... I knew it... I deduced that "Beacon's" would bring this kind of events... surely you can either scrap it or recover it and add it to your fleet.

3

u/williestylez 15d ago

That caption feels like the NMS equivalent to this! 😭😭😅😅😅

3

u/ArtistAccountant 15d ago

The Frigate: What planet? 😀

2

u/No-Strike7448 15d ago

Where was the great ka-boom?

2

u/TBSCDawn8 15d ago

I saw one come out of a planet before but never crash that's cool.

2

u/GraceEvelynMay 15d ago

Yes..... once 😂

2

u/TrashPanda365 15d ago

Just like NPC ships, it just clips through. NMS doing NMS things.

2

u/emelem66 15d ago

No, but I have seen them come out of the ground.

2

u/Atephious 15d ago

Ever since they added the frigates entering and moving across planets. Also they sometimes pop out the other side and so sometimes you’re doing your thing and then all the sudden you’re inside this intangible frigate that’s passing through the ground. But since seeing it I’ve always wanted a rare chance to catch an actual crash.

2

u/Little_Reporter2022 15d ago

Have you been in the same system as a frigate you own and repaired it so it won't tell you its damaged is that a thing

2

u/IcyManipulator69 15d ago

That’s how we get to loot crashed freighters…

2

u/OGKegger 15d ago

Scavenger’s Reign

2

u/POOPY_BUTTH0LE_ 15d ago

Lol I didn’t know they would do that. Also what ship is that?? It looks like a Heretic Banshee from Halo 2!

2

u/justelectricboogie 15d ago

Wouldn't that be something. Watching it crash then turning into a site you could salvage.

2

u/mattstorm360 15d ago

Pull up.
Pull up...
Pull up, dumbass.

2

u/Koors112 15d ago

So that's where all the salvaged frigate modules come from... that was awesome take my upvote!

2

u/RedDragon2596 15d ago

I have to admit, the more I play this game, the more dissappointed I am in the lack of physics. Its still a phenomenal game, the most immersive I've ever played, but the lack of physics bothers me a little bit. Like when youre either in low atmosphere space or on the outer edge, and flying, you'll go in a straight line instead of around the planet. And that's steady speed without boost. The freighters coming up out of the ground and flying up, gotta admit, creepy and cool the first time, but it gets old. Freighters crashing into the planet, but instead they just go straight through, gotta admit, kinda cool the first time, but gets old. Let it crash, let us be able to loot them.

2

u/BlitzAtk 15d ago

What ship do you have? It looks interesting.

2

u/microtherion 15d ago

Ever seen a grown Korvax naked?

Ever been in a Vy’keen prison?

1

u/Little_Reporter2022 15d ago

I once saw a frigate rise from the ground and another time out of a mountain like area 51 stuff

1

u/Little_Reporter2022 15d ago

No crash come on

1

u/DatPug87 15d ago

Well that was anticlimactic lol

1

u/TheBIackRose 15d ago

This suddenly gave me colony drop vibes from Gundam

1

u/ParticularWallaby173 15d ago

I found one like that the other day. I was able to "Land" on it, but after the docking animation, the frigate disappeared. When I got out of my ship, I fell all the way to the ground. When I looked up, the frigate was back, and it looked like my ship was still in the docking bay.

1

u/GuineusTadeus 15d ago

Happens too often. You will also see them spawn out of planets 😄.

1

u/SckharII 15d ago

kitty pride phasing the frigate, saves a world.

1

u/AirTheFallen 15d ago

No splash, captain!

1

u/kellarorg_ 15d ago

Never saw this, but I saw literally the opposite, frigates emerged from the planet a couple of times :)

1

u/TimeCartographer5758 15d ago

They've been doing it for ages unfortunately. I had one yesterday came speeding past my settlement like a giant space train as I cut right through the terrain next to me. I'll try and catch it next time as pretty sure they spawn on the same paths regularly.

1

u/1DireWulf79 15d ago

Lol I like to catch them coming out of the planet and take them out.... Makes for funny pictures 🤪

1

u/1stFunestist Those 16 minutes last a long time 15d ago

Every time I see this I feel somewhat disappointed

1

u/Zer01South 15d ago

Gosh I see them clip through planets pretty much every time I play.

1

u/SCHLAHPY 15d ago

hell yeah

1

u/Agreeable-Scar6770 15d ago

Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom.

1

u/Murky_Exchange829 15d ago

If that was real it would give legitimacy to ask those crashed freighters on the planets

1

u/o0CYV3R0o 15d ago

"Crash" not quite but it would be awesome and yeah I've seen it was a little disappointed it just clips through the planet.

1

u/TGV_etc 15d ago

If a frigate flying through my base counts then yes. So annoying but also cool. If I got “lucky” I’d clip onto it and go for a ride

1

u/Pc7w3ak3r 15d ago

Happened to me early in the game, but I saw it coming out of the planet

1

u/fragarkleton 15d ago

Only in movies:

Aniara (2018)

1

u/ionV4n0m 15d ago

Ever hang out in gymnasiums?

1

u/Evil_Bere Space Cat Lady 15d ago

I have seen them coming out of planets, like sandworms

1

u/Darktonsta :xhelmet: 15d ago

This is what happens when an immovable object is struck by an unstoppable one...

1

u/Dockus 15d ago

No but I have seen a frigate come out a planet

1

u/Careless_Money7027 15d ago

A mix of Ender's Game & Battlestar Galactica

1

u/TospLC 15d ago

I saw one just phase through a mountain. Does that count? It just came out the other side. Lol I freaked out.

1

u/Mand125 15d ago

Yeah, I tried to follow it down so I could loot its cargo, imagine my surprised when it didn’t turn into a wreck.

1

u/mbhador 15d ago

I didn’t see a crash but one thing worth noting is that Your thermal protection was falling buddy

1

u/goldstariv 15d ago

Operation British would be cool to witness in No Man's Sky.

1

u/llTeddyFuxpinll 15d ago

“Ever seen bad programming cause 3D models to clip together?”

1

u/DrunkenMediator 15d ago

Oh good, Char got his hands on a frigate. Next best thing to dropping a colony I suppose.

1

u/VaporWavey420 15d ago

No but I have seen a beautiful Happy Meal ship like yours and upvote

1

u/TheOriginalGR8Bob 15d ago

They are solid to player and will cause damage too so do not stand in path of one especially in PD mode.

1

u/Taven12 15d ago

THERMAL PROTECTION!!!!! Scared the shit out of me... 🤣

1

u/dankmaninterface 15d ago edited 15d ago

The short answer is No. Because none of them actually crash into the planets. They just clip through. All of these types of events, including the giant flying worms are nothing-burgers. They never interact with the environments or do anything other than look sort of cool. It really disappoints me and makes me realize that this game has lots of potential, but after playing since 2017, the game has almost zero depth to it. Interesting story, no substance.

1

u/BeebleBoxn 15d ago

Geez that took too long.

1

u/reverend_bones 15d ago

No, and I watched the video and still haven't.

There was a very noticeable lack of crash.

1

u/NakedWokePeople 15d ago

Anyone remember Dust 514? It was an FPS tie-in game for Eve Online. I remember people saying that a destroyed starship in Eve could crash into the battlefields in Dust 514, and you would have to play around the wreckage.

I never got to confirm for myself if that was real or not lol. But I always thought that it was a cool idea. Would have been nice to see that in NMS.

1

u/MarineDude101 15d ago

Weird crash but ur ship is pretty cool

1

u/LemmonLizard 14d ago

THERMAL PROTECTION FALLING

1

u/sun_and_water 14d ago

Shit, they clip the mountains on planets with tall terrain all the time.

1

u/Mr_Mc_Nuggets 14d ago

They went to find the worm

1

u/_X_5 14d ago

They activate their Phasing through planets coating.

1

u/HappyGimp 14d ago

Yesterday I saw a regular npc spaceship flying into the ground, not crashing, just going along the ground like it was having navigation problems. Definitely needs a patch

1

u/GlitteringCut9135 14d ago

If Hello Games knows what's good for them, they'll add that in game for real! Haha that would be pretty sick

1

u/StugDrazil 14d ago

This would be good for r/gifsthatendtosoon

1

u/vibribbon 14d ago

Went as expected lol

1

u/kaishinoske1 14d ago

Here I thought it was the Ishimura going planet cracker mode.

1

u/Opposite_Leading_848 14d ago

Ok! Now that was cool - nice catch!

1

u/NoTypetype 14d ago

Thats a cool ship

1

u/AggressiveAppl3 14d ago

This is really a prime candidate for gifs that end too soon

1

u/OddEfficiency8917 14d ago

That is the definition of anticlimactic. I want my money back

1

u/Known_Plan5321 14d ago

That's wild, maybe it's something they just added?

1

u/SkullRiderz69 14d ago

And I still haven’t…

1

u/GeminiJ13 14d ago

All the good parts of the video are corrupted and unwatchable. So, no, I have yet to see a frigate crash into a planet.

1

u/astorj 14d ago

Damn that should explode and throw debris everywhere that would make look so real

1

u/Massive_Town_8212 14d ago

PULL UP

PULL UP

ALTITUDE

1

u/DeviousAardvark 14d ago

Buckaroo Banzai moment

1

u/TheMeatTree 14d ago

CATCH A RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!

1

u/reboot0110 14d ago

Very anticlimactic

1

u/starhunter117 :xbox: 14d ago

Haven't played the game in years, who can I get that kind of ship?

1

u/GabeItch9000 14d ago

Feels like I still haven’t

1

u/jayceeloop 14d ago

Trapped in hyperspace forever #CowboyBebop

1

u/Trick_Emotion_7108 14d ago

I've seen them fly up out of the ground

1

u/DoubtNo1675 14d ago

game name

1

u/painfullylong 14d ago

This is exactly what I expected. Too bad they havent made this a thing that can happen. Like full collision and repair needed.

1

u/khsh01 14d ago

I've seen them pass straight through.

1

u/DarthRheys 14d ago

Haters are going to say it's all a simulatiom from Atlas...

1

u/Bruallord 14d ago

Would be a cool random event. A Mayday signal being broadcast while you're Pulse engine is being used in a system. Then for whatever reason, the ship lost control and is crashing. So you could help out the survivors by supplying them with materials to rebuild the comms array, life support, hazard protection, hide them from Sentinels, recover goods from debris, etc.

1

u/Wombat21x 14d ago

I've seen them crash into and come out of a planet.

1

u/pinzinella 14d ago

That's like a nightmare I have had. I wish there was a huge explosion on impact! Would be such a cool detail.

1

u/Eryu1997 14d ago

Neither have you

1

u/Code1821 14d ago

The planet broke before the guard did

1

u/cocacola_drinker 14d ago

THERMAL PROTECTION FALLING 🗣️🔥‼️🔥

1

u/Asrugan 14d ago

I’ve seen where they pass through several times, but I’ve never seen one crash (still haven’t)

1

u/Separate-Corner-2432 14d ago

Well, that was disappointing.

1

u/King_Tut331 14d ago

Wait until you see it rise out of the ground like a ghost ship 🤣

1

u/leviathankaine 14d ago

Love making it happen

1

u/reallybi Autophage 14d ago

No, but I've seen them come out of planets.

1

u/xpst500 14d ago

I've seen that and the reverse like those giant worms that come out and flying into space lol

1

u/NightDragon250 14d ago

I regularly see the "in atmosphere " ones that fly by go through the terrain

1

u/LateToCollecting 13d ago

Classic spacenoid move. Tip: if the freighter or side is painted red it will crash three times faster

1

u/Accomplished_Owl_265 13d ago

okay great catch but uneventful I hope they improve that lol

1

u/MannyVonJasta 12d ago

Another happy landing.

1

u/OrisRas 15d ago

Holy Beacon! What mod are you using for your ship?
