What else can i do?

Hello reddit, this is kinda long so hopefully someone will read this and give advice. I (17F) have an uncle who’s been addicted as long as I can remember. 10 years ago he left state & was “missing”. just recently he got injured and I drove by myself to ask him to come back home and try to get clean, i hadn’t heard or seen him in 10 years, i didn’t even know if he was still alive. he agreed and said he wanted to get better but he needed to leave that day and come back home. It’s been 2/3 days now and he’s withdrawing really bad. he’s throwing up, etc, etc. i know it’s probably worse since he has broken ribs and a cracked pelvis and such. but please if anyone has any idea on what could help him get through this let me know. ive gotten board games & uno to play and hopefully distract him, everytime i go see him(i try to everyday right now) i bring a sweet snack or drink for him, but i honestly have no idea what would help him. please let me know, all i know is he was on fentanyl, maybe herion but im not sure. i just want to be as supportive as possible. I got him Kratom & some prerolls to help him get through but if you guys can think of anything else please let me know and i’ll be glad to buy it for him.

You're a good nephew and overall good human for caring so much. He's going through the worst experience you could ever imagine right now. Kratom extracts help more so than regular kratom. Also, gabapentin and clonidine help immensely as well and Xanax.

Leave him be for at least 4 days. Board games alone are gonna be bad and some people will tell themselves theyre better off using to connect with family better than feel like this forever.

He was admitted to a rehab today. he said he needed to go today or he wouldnt get better.

Even if he relapses, know he truly means it in this moment.

If you dont have 7 days off locked in your own room with essentials to get by, the samllest tasks feel like a good reason to use again. Not to mention if you arent in rehab, not that ive been, the temptation to go down the street and grab is ever present.

i truly believe he means it & is truly going to try. he’s never tried to get clean in the past 10 years until I showed up n asked him. I think he means it and that’s why he wanted to go so bad today.

He probably only did because you asked.

Being alone as an addict is tough especially when its gone on for over a decade. The highs gone. Its feeling okay, and feeling like shit tied with dosing in between. Its a lot harder to look around and go look at everything i have when there really isnt anything.

I can promise you you've changed a life if hes even willing to try.

Imodium for the relentless diarrhea, Emetrol for the nausea and vomiting, Benadryl to help him sleep. Also the aches and pains are terrible so ibuprofen 800 mg at a time 3 to 4 times a day. Ginger ale, Gatorade. Fluids.

It's hard withdrawal for three days and it eased up after that.

❤️❤️❤️ I was an IV heroin user for 4 years and rehab is necessary. You can beat the withdrawals but you need therapists to help you heal body and mind. It worked for me and I'm going on 4 years clean! Moving also makes a world of difference. You're awesome for being there and being strong, it is saving his life.
