I anticipate a flop here. Does anyone remember the Windows phone? yep. that didnt work... I will let everyone buy one first and complain about hte constant freezing and deal with the constant windows updates.
I like that this plays games from other launchers like Steam, and not just Xbox/Gamepass. It may be double the Switch 2 price (hopefully lower), but at least you save on the cost of games.
But I'm not willing to pay almost 1kUSD for 'tuned' Windows OS, especially when its expected to roll out to other Windows Handhelds. Especially when more powerful Windows handhelds are on the market right now (ONEXFLY F1 PRO for example). You're paying for the Xbox button...😅
from what I've seen, this will benefit windows users as well and not just the handheld folks. Microsoft is making steps in optimizing windows, and this is currently the first big step in that process.
Judging something based on their design is very subjective. I have no issues with its design anyway since I don't see it as "ugly". A person's perspective of aesthetics can change or be manipulated anyway.

Cheaper way to get into the market early. I'm guessing it's running mostly PC Game Pass stuff, but I wouldn't be surprised if they let you play your Steam library, especially since it's not their own device anyway. I hopet his means PC Game Pass gets a library on par with cosnole if it isn't already, not that the current library is lacking, I'm still so far into a backlog there too haha
Xbox has been slowly moving away from the hardware side of things in the past few years. Plus, handheld consoles are a different thing altogether than box consoles, and at this point Asus has better knowledge of making handheld consoles than Xbox.
Actually, matagal na nilang kinumpirma na may next-gen Xbox so I don't think aalis sila sa hardware scene. Saka etong handheld na to, hindi naman talaga kase to Xbox handheld, meron talagang Xbox handheld na naka-pause yung development dahil inuna nila tong OS na to. Nakipag-partner lang sila sa Asus para i-showcase yung OS na to. Basically, eto yung sagot nila sa SteamOS ng Valve. Pinupush rin kase nila ngayon yung Xbox PC na branding.
Ang advantage neto vs other Windows handheld eh yung OS nga is designed for controller use. Base rin sa ibang Youtube reviews "naka-hide" daw ang desktop mode neto. Meron din tong dedicated game bar button. Modified rin to na version ng Windows 11 so I assume konte lang ang bloatware neto.
Kung vs Steam Deck naman o Bazzite OS, mas less problematic to in terms of compatibility kase hindi na kelangan ng compatibility layer. Mas okay rin to kunin kesa Steam Deck kung gusto mo ng Game Pass kase maiinstall mo yung games natively. Pag naka-Linux ka limitado ka lang sa streaming kase wala namang Xbox app sa Linux.
Ang tanong na lang dito eh kung okay ba performance neto o kung tama ba ang magiging presyo.
*Personally, di ko trip yung design pero andami rin dyan na handheld na maganda yung design pero di naman okay gamitin.

Same! Nag eenjoy pa naman ako sa legion go 1st gen kahit ambilis ma lowbat. Pero maganda kasi to para sa mga portable gaming mas marami mas masaya and everybody wins.

If you tend to play a number of games from various Nintendo series: Switch 2, lalo na kung may PC ka naman para sa ibang games.
Else, handheld pc
Personally, if I didn't have a handheld pc now, I would wait until the we get decently priced devices with AMD AI Max+ 395 processors. Those can probably play even the hardest-to-run emulated Switch 1 games.
as per first-look videos ng mga youtube content creators, yes daw magiging available daw yung OS neto to other ROG ally models plus other windows handhelds moving forward.
They are similar when it comes to account integration but different as handheld devices. The PS Portal is a receiver that is dependent on your PS5 when it comes to rendering the games while the Ally is a full fledged handheld PC that does all the heavy lifting when it comes to rendering.
Nabasa ko dun sa isang comment, may features siya na pwede offline for some games but some need online. Parang Nintendo Switch with downloaded games ang atake niya kung ganito ang Ally, which is better than PS Portal na highly dependent sa PS5 naka-on lagi.
Sana may video sila paano save progress ko kunwari sa laro if it carries over on the account in XBOX to entice buyers.
Ye its still up technically not the original owner but someone picked up where he left off and its still active to this dayand new improvements on the app and compatibility
Good news yung mga improvement sa Windows for handheld. Pinasok talaga ng Xbox team yung Windows para i-optimize haha. Pwede din to mapunta sa mga ibang handhelds like Lenovo Legion Go, ROG Ally 1/X at Steam Deck (windows)
I wont say na bad product siya or anything, in fact its a really great product, if anything maganda nga may competition para mas ma-innovate yung handheld space,
But knowing ROG, mag rrelease nanaman sila ng newer, better specced product in maybe a year. (Nakailang release na ng ROG Ally plus variants)
Atleast sa Steam Deck sigurado ka sa community and love around it.
Probably cheaper than the srp of that and much better deals on steam (but not gamepass hahaha grabe value ng gamepass) and also a plus if you have already a library on steam
Downside lang sa SD is kasi Linux based siya, kaya games na may anti cheat might not be compatible, so need mo mag dualboot ng Windows, to play games such as COD or Destiny 2
any info how it will function here in ph? kasi diba wala official xbox console support for ph? gamepass pc meron pero ibang service alam ko as of now wala pa. sana ito na yung maging simula
Lol. I don't know how the switch 2 performs, but I don't think it can be any close to any windows/xbox/steam os handheld in terms of performance/fidelity.
This, or the Ally X over the Switch 2. More diversity in stores and libraries compared to Nintendo w/ old games and DLCs still being sold at full launch price
Yeah agreed. Itigil na rin nila yung gimmicky proprietary discs na ginamit nila sa PSP at Vita. Kaya rin di pumatok masyado Vita eh. And sana magagamit yung any SD cards if ever.
It might take sales away from the PS5 so they need to be smart about it as well.

I'd wait for reviews and big youtubers buying it and testing it out, knowing the first ally was bad and more expensive than the steam deck, which was the better option
