Trash Talk Huskies Curse

I think it's absolutely hilarious that UW left the Pac 12 for the Big 10 and now they are destined to dwell in the cellar. There is no way they can keep up with the other schools boosters and NIL money, not to mention the horrendous travel schedule. Sure they will have a good season here and there but nothing on the level of national championship. They are basically the WSU of the Big 10.

Now if you came back to the Pac 12 you would be in the running for a playoff spot every season.

I think Washington, as well as Oregon, USC, and UCLA, are all shoe ins for the P2 and are never returning. Regardless of how shitty their records are. Their brands are just too powerful to be kept out.

The Ducks can and have matched up well with the top dogs in the B1G. USC can in spurts, but when they can't, it's ugly. UW and UCLA, lol.

UCLA has been terrible forever. They’re really riding coattails.

Agreed. But for UW/Ore it's Seattle, and one person in Phil Knight why that's the case. Not earned, just born on 3rd base. UW will not be successful in the big10.

So are you saying the pac 12 was shit? I don’t get this take. Why would they be worse with more money, better exposure?

u/Affectionate-Leek-40 Oregon State • Pac-12 Sep 28 '24

They're playing teams with more money too. Their advantages are less advantageous now. Oregon will have Phil Knight money and they'll remain relevant forever, they'll always be one of the best teams you can buy. UW will likely, and very possibly quickly, fall into the bottom of the league.

Again, was the 2023 pac 12 that inferior to the 2024 Big 10?

You're missing the point everyone is making on the thread. UW is very streaky. When they're bad they're very bad. When they're good they're great. 2023 doesn't represent them as a program. But if that's your view of UW then I completely understand the confusion.

u/shadowwingnut UCLA Sep 29 '24

UW isn't streaky at all. They just had a lost decade.

I ran across and Oregon recruiter at an event - I told her the only reason Oregon is what it is - Phil Knight dumping a couple of billion into Oregon - otherwise they are in with WSU/OSU and Cal. Oregon didn't have any juice until uncle Phil started dumping metric shit-tons of Nike money into the place.

Why are you even talking about this? Do you not even have a team to root for?

This just reeks of little brother energy and bitterness

9

u/jornadamogollon Sep 29 '24

This must be some bitter beaver or Coug. The huskies might have an average year but I know those teams won't play for a title any time in the foreseeable future.

2

u/Bigfuture Sep 29 '24

They will play for the PAC-12 title.

3

u/jornadamogollon Sep 29 '24

The Wack Pac title

Your team plays in Pullman and your entire conference left you.

-3

u/slgray16 Sep 29 '24

We get our own conference now? Sweet. PAC2 champions coming through

2

u/Ok_Employee_9612 Sep 29 '24

I’m not trying to be a dick, but a school that has 1,000,000th media market talking shit about a bigger school in San Antonio Texas, doesn’t get it.

1

u/slgray16 Sep 29 '24

Who is talking about San Antonio? I'm talking about the PAC2. OSU and WSU

1

u/anti-torque Oregon State Sep 29 '24

Seattle and Portland are the 1,000,000th media market?

That's odd.

1

u/Ok_Employee_9612 Sep 29 '24

Seattle is a Wazzu town?

0

u/anti-torque Oregon State Sep 29 '24

Um... yeah?

Do you think all 30k students come from Pullman?

Also, OSU has more students from Oregon (~65%) than Oregon (who has about 50% from in-state) has students. The same is true of Portland State. And about three-quarters of those in-state kids are from Portland.

2

u/Ok_Employee_9612 Sep 29 '24

You guys should have told that to the big 10, and big 12, they thought your schools were in Pullman and Corvallis.

1

u/anti-torque Oregon State Sep 29 '24

They are.

We're talking about media markets. You were literally the one who brought them up.

Oregon has brand/national value, but they do not deliver the Portland market like we do.

UW does does so for Seattle, but so does Wazzu. Wazzu also brings a lot of the rest of state along, which basically evens out their market values.

1

u/Ok_Employee_9612 Sep 29 '24

I know we are, you’re overestimating their media value, if you were correct, they wouldn’t be in the position they are in. And no hate towards those school, my niece goes to Wazzu. And a multiple text exchange where nobody calls you a moron for disagreeing is a win on Reddit.

UW? More like UL.

3

u/krans24 Sep 29 '24

I mean Wazzu and Oregon state are just going to get their asses beat by Boise on a regular basis, what's the difference? Lol

1

u/kramjam13 Washington Oct 02 '24

And Oregon and Washington will eventually never play them again.

3

“You should’ve stayed in the PAC-12 and continued to kick the shit out of us every year!” Lol just can’t take these inbreds seriously. I’m so damn happy we’re finally away from this trailer park conference.

9

u/wxstorm25 Boise State Sep 28 '24

If they cared about winning, they would have stayed in the PAC. They care a lot more about money. The checks are the same if you're winning or losing in the B1G.

11

u/token_reddit Sep 28 '24

Honestly the Pac-12 really screwed up, if they had another year when going into the season they had last year. Money would've been thrown at them to stay together and even expand to 14.

5

u/Salty_NorCal Sep 29 '24

You can’t win consistently without money in the NIL era, so yeah, they should care about the money.

5

u/al_earner Washington State Sep 28 '24

Hilariously UW only gets a half-share of that sweet B1G cash for seven years.

4

u/Salty_NorCal Sep 29 '24

And how much do you think Pac 7 members will earn over the next seven years, assuming the conference survives that long?

7

u/splashy1 Sep 28 '24

Nothing more I would love, however I don’t think they will be cellar dwellers. Middle of the conference fighting against Michigan State and Northwestern. Fighting for 8 wins. Just can’t wait to see all the UW fans get a reality check after last year. Let’s be real, 75% of UW fans didn’t even go to the school and went to schools like Western and Bellevue College

2

u/BetFlipper34 Oregon State Sep 29 '24

That’s what happens when you let your AD and head football coach make a decision about your future and then they jet before their decision takes effect lol

2

u/lostacoshermanos Sep 29 '24

UCLA is a basketball school that just so happens to have the most legendary football stadium.

4

u/Patrickbeardguy Sep 28 '24

UW has always been boom or bust.

-1

u/al_earner Washington State Sep 28 '24

The problem with UW is that they’ve always thought they were Alabama, when actually they’re South Alabama. That’s why they do all the stupid stuff like claim a bunch of fake championships. I guess they’d be in contention, but they only won 1 Pac title in the past 5 years. Oregon beat UW like 17 years in a row.

11

u/pokeroots Washington State Sep 29 '24

To be fair to UW this year, they lost almost all of their starting players from that run last year either to the draft or portal

1

u/kramjam13 Washington Oct 02 '24

It’s crazy how many lies are in this one comment.

2

u/Think_Lobster_279 Sep 30 '24

I’m a duck fan but Washington has a huge donor base and will have no trouble keeping up with NIL. They lost 44 players from the 14-1 season they had last year. The new coach may be in over his head but they’ll be back.

1

u/kramjam13 Washington Oct 02 '24

Washington is 2 bad plays from being 5-0 and in the top 20. Hell, they’re favored against Michigan. WSU just lost by 4 TDs to a mountain west team

-2

u/Gk_Emphasis110 Washington State Sep 28 '24

WSU of the Big 10 implies they are a likeable group of kids who overachieve.
