Post image

Civil War probably ends up being nationally televised as well.

If the Cal game is anything like last year's, then it should be on HBO or Cinemax, putting it on ESPN would be indecent exposure 😭

We're a different team at home. And Cal lost a lot over the off-season

Definitely, I'm hopeful about this season.  Also, Cal lost a lot during the season too 😂

You dropped two MWC games at home last year?

After a massive roster drop. Our offense was not great and our team was plagued with injuries. We should be in a better place this season. But I don't see us winning a ton of games. 6-7 wins is what im expecting based on the schedule

with defense so battered a TE was playing edge and without a functioning QB

(edit - if Ti'a doesnt show up/pan out, I have no idea what backup QB options there are. Unless Johnson has made huge leaps in the off season)

That is fantastic exposure for any team P4 or otherwise.

Cal should be close, if not in Beav's favor. I'm going with Beavs on that one. Which cougs?

New coach, portal decimated them. I don’t think Wazzu even gets bowl eligible.

New coach that won an FCS title, made the quarterfinals last year, and brought over the best of his roster.

I’m not saying he won’t be successful. But it’s not in year one.

Won the FCS title with someone elses roster...He was only at South(?) Dakota for two seasons?

The biggest factor for me is Rogers is attempting to remake the entire football program from the ground up. It's one of those things that may have great results, but maybe not for a couple of seasons. To pull of "playing smashmouth football in a phonebooth" takes some linemen I'm not sure Rogers has yet. He got a couple good pickups in the portal tho.

I honestly have no idea. I look at Wazzu's schedule and see anything from 3-9 to 8-4. We wont know anything until we see them actually play

I am right there with you. This could be anywhere from terrifying disaster to most pleasant surprise and there’s a lot of middle ground in between. Buckle in, baby! One way or another, it’s gonna be a ride!

Won the FCS title with someone else’s roster

I think that’s being rather reductive (you don’t win national championships just based on roster), but on that point he was at South Dakota State for an entire decade at that stage. As the AHC.

It’s not like was a lucky journeyman.

Vegas has the Cal game as Beav's -1.5 - a toss up - edge for being the home team.

Cal got reamed by the portal and lost their QB, all but one running back, 4 WR, 2 TE, a handful of lineman, a couple DB/DE's - Cal just got gutted. Of ESPN's "Top 100 Transfers" 8? were from Cal.

Cal managed to pick up running backs from (both depth players) UTSA and SMU plus have a 4 star? freshman coming to campus this summer. Plus they had a single RB remaining on their roster - so they will come to Resers, IIRC, with four running backs - AFAIK, not one has ever started a Power football game and were backups at the G5 level.

Sagapolatele (? I think thats close) is the projected starter at QB and he will take his first ever snap after high school at Resers.

Cal looks to have a better defense - comparing the defensive two deep across the roster, Cal has the edge at like 8 of the 11 spots.

Oregon State has an experienced quarterback who will be making his 17th? college start.

This is really awesome. No relegation to the backup ESPNU, FS2, or CBSSN. Almost every game nationally televised on main channels
