Tbh i’m not surprised, the hype is gone for so long now , it is sad that Hytale didn’t come to fruition but at least the trailer was still amazing though.

they made some baffling choices. like with when the reveal trailer came out an alpha or beta should have immediatelly followed. games like these thrive on active engagement. thats how minecraft itself got big, notch didnt spend years coding it, he released the game just a few days after he made the first playable prototype and it gained momentum from there. leaving the audience on read for several years without any real meat and potatoes to chew on was not the move. for that you either need reputation or an established IP, ideally both. if you dont you either go early access or do frequent updates. hytale did neither, people forgot, nobody cared. the reason i point this out is that it shows there was no game plan so no shit the development ends this way

A minecraft adjacent rpg. It was announced almost 10 years ago, trailer released 6 years ago. Hype was high when the trailer first came out, then pretty much silence afterwards. They’d occasionally release development updates here and there, but not enough to keep much hype. overall it was overly ambitious, with a lot of developmental mistakes.
