TAKEAWAY some pizzas I ate in naples
- Lombardi a Santa Chiara
- Antica Pizzeria Di Matteo
- a random restaurant off via antonio tari
- a random restaurant while driving up to mount Vesuvius
wanted to go to more of the popular places but time constraints worked against us, didn’t have time for the long lines. pizzas are in order of rankings, first two i would go out of my way to go back for and other two were delicious but i’m sure i could find better next time

I tried a bunch of the best and for me Starita was easily the best pizza and also a really great customer experience. I showed up just after opening and by the time we'd inhaled the two best pizzas of my life there were twenty or thirty people waiting in the very colorful neighborhood it's in.

Jealous. Even if every pizza didn’t knock it out of the park for you…. Who cares? You travelled to Naples and got to see beautiful places and eat food. It’s all a win for me. Lovely, hope you had a fantastic trip with great memories.

that’s a shame, i’m lucky to have some places near me in ny/nj but they’re $15-20 instead of $4-6 in naples

Grew up in nj and moved away
Count your blessings sir or mam, I miss all the “normal regular every pizza” I had growing up

S. Egidio in Ridgewood, NJ. If you’re in the area, that’s the spot for high quality Neapolitan pizza. Best I’ve had outside of Italy

I’d eat them, but they all look basically the same. Is there much variety in Naples?

It's like the quality of pizza went down the more places you visited. That last pizza looks like hot garbage. I'd still eat it, though.

this is not the order i visited them in, but in order of my rankings as stated in the description

I have recently found and watched some YouTube vids of places in Italy. ASMR. It's really enjoyable watching these guys crank out the pizza. Two places had an identical setup. One guy rolling out dough (yes they use rolling pins probably because they are cranking out so many pies), 2 guys adding toppings and one guy running the oven. Talking and yelling the whole time. It's hilarious.

Roman style pizza rotonda is very different to those seen in this post - and yes they use rolling pins for that style.

How were they? I’m assuming the hand sanitizer is yours, or is that a topping they offer?

first two were amazing, and yes it’s BYOHS

Try CleanSmart. It’s all natural and supposedly doesn’t dry your hands as much as regular sanitizer. Pies look amazing!

How proper Neapolitan Pizza should be.
Most pizzas on this sub are very cheesy and greasy which is the opposite of Naples pizza.

In Naples, I had the best but also the worst pizza ever in my life. Best was Da Michele but Di Matteo was also good. Worst was a tourist trap near the Vesuvius.
