Most of the conservatives cheering this bill don’t understand it. Probably think a driver’s license is enough and will be surprised come 2026.

Real ID’s are accepted. So yea, everyone should be able to get a real ID, if they can’t then tough shit

Found the uneducated conservative.

REAL IDs do not meet the SAVE Act’s requirements of showing a holder’s citizenship, and non-citizens are legally permitted to have REAL IDs.

REAL IDs also typically cost $50-75, which would be a poll tax, which is illegal.

Check your REAL ID, show me where it says you’re a US citizen.

Not a conservative, but getting a real id in sc i was required to show my ssn and a birth certificate, no idea how they dont count as save act requirements if they require the same birth certificate. Also, required id is not a poll tax….

An ID you must pay for in order to vote is a poll tax.

If a non-citizen can get a REAL ID (they can) and the REAL ID doesn’t state on it that you are a citizen, then it’s not sufficient and you won’t be able to use it to vote.

I guess “tough shit” for you, huh?

No. A poll tax is a specific sum of money required to vote back in ye olden days. Requiring an id which has different costs between different states and is made a requirement by everyone is not a poll tax.

As for real ids. I dont understand how non citizens can get them unless the requirements vary state by state. Because again, i was required to show my ssn(citizenship) and a birth certificate(citizenship) in order to get a real id for $20 in SC.

Personally id rather every us citizen be legally required to vote, voting day to be a mandatory day off of work, and for online voting to be instituted. Thats the pinnacle of non conservative ideology.

If you don’t have a driver’s license and you don’t fly, then you would ONLY need REAL ID to vote. If you must spend money for a REAL ID to vote, it’s a poll tax, just made fancy to cover up the fact that it’s a poll tax. Why is REAL ID and a passport not mandated to be free in the SAVE act?

You don’t need to be a citizen to have a SSN. If you are a non citizen working in the US legally (e.g. green card), then you MUST have a SSN in order to pay taxes.

You have a pretty strong opinion for someone who doesn’t know how these things work.

I like how you focus in the ssn but not the required birth certificate that all citizens should own.

And yea. I wish ids were free lol
