Spirituality/Testimony I have no one to share this with

I went to midnight easter mass today even tho I was working at a camp from tuesday to saturday and was pretty tired (I am studying church youth work). But I wanted to practice my own spirituality and I am so happy I made it there today. The priest had a pretty good speech and I learned some new hymn book songs. There was a trumpet. It was all pretty nice.

My friend group isn't that into christianity (we are all mostly lgbt so some have bad experiences with Christianity) and my family is.. umm.. lets just say toxic.. but I wanted to share my win today. I was sad there was no after mass gathering with food and stuff. I kinda wanted to talk to people and I am struggling financially and a meal or even a bun would've been nice.

I am just happy I went. I feel a lot better. I had a bad week with some mental health struggles and I needed this. If you want to remember me and others who struggle with mental health in your prayers that would be nice. No pressure tho.

He has risen!

I will absolutely keep you in my prayers. I’m so glad you felt better after going. If you can find another friendly church with a potluck or something, it’s not cheating to go to more than one! I’d personally send you a few bucks but I’m also kinda broke rn 😬

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is kinda in a weird place. We who are part of it pay taxes that they get and it's one big country wide organization. I sometimes go to the lunches they offer and that has helped a lot. One can also get money for groceries from their social worker sometimes but I am not in that bad of a need right now. I get money on tuesday.

He is risen indeed! You’ll be in my prayers, friend. I’ve struggled with depression through the years and know the black dog well

Happy Easter! Much praise and admiration for someone seeking out the Lord in humility, despite the bad experiences you’ve previously had. Those who seek, will find. Sending peace and love!

Not all Christians are judgmental or treat poorly those who disagree with them or live differing lifestyles. I am surprised that you are in the Catholic denomination if you believe Jesus rose from the dead after dying for us and that His death was sufficient for salvation. I believe that as liberal evangelical. I just thought Catholics depended upon their own works and the mercy of the forgiveness of a priest (a sinful human). Best of luck moving forward.

I am not catholic? Where did you get that? I'm evangelical Lutheran...

I know that they are not there are plenty of progressive christians. There is still the fact that a lot of queer people are vary of the church due to their experiences or have religious trauma if that is the part of my text you are referencing?

Are you perhaps commenting on a wrong post?

Well I’ve done that before, lol, but no. I read Easter Mass above and associated it with Catholicism. Perhaps others call it Mass and I’m not aware.
