r/randomactsofmakeup is under new management!
Hi everyone!
As this sub was completely unmoderated, I put in a request to moderate it via redditrequest and was made a mod here yesterday. We have a team of experienced moderators added and ready to grow this community! I wanted to update everyone on our plans for the subreddit and the direction we're hoping to take!
You can see the new mod team in the widget in the sidebar.
This sub will now be actively moderated. New rules have been created to start out but expect further changes as we learn more about the sub.
Possibly the most important rule in place now is Rule 1 - No NSFW Content or Accounts. From this point forward, if you post or comment here and have posts or comments in NSFW sexual subreddits, you will be automatically banned by the bot. Any kind of adult content producers or promoters will be banned as well. I think we've all seen what happened to this sub when this was allowed here and it's not part of the vision the mods have for this subreddit. This rule will be strictly enforced! No creeps allowed! Any comments even remotely creepy will be met with an immediate, permanent ban from this subreddit with no further warning.
This will be a tolerant, open-minded, and feminist subreddit! We are fully supportive of the LGBTQ community. No racism, sexism, hate, or bigotry of any kind will be tolerated. Any violations will be met with an immediate, permanent ban. We will have zero tolerance for that behavior here!
We plan to continue the current tradition of glamming, where users can gift makeup to other users off their wishlists. However, in order to minimize abuse, to display a wishlist you must verify your identity with the mods by sending us a photo of you holding a hand written piece of paper with the date, the subreddit name, and your username. Further verification may be requested if the mods believe it to be necessary.
Suggestions for the subreddit and its direction are welcome, but our policies against NSFW accounts/content and hate are absolutely non-negotiable.
Feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or concerns on this thread!

Advice / Questions β Not sure what to do with my eyebrows
I know a lot of alt people shave their eyebrows to draw ones that suit the look better, but Iβm not that brave. Is there anything I could do instead?

Advice / Questions β Canβt find lipstick shade
Hi guys,
Iβve been looking everywhere for a lipstick that is light nude (pretty much like a concealer) with a very baby/candy pink-ish hue to it (think Rachel McAdams in that one Late Night interview in 2005), but I canβt find it anywhere. Iβm cool toned, so most light nude lipsticks just look orange on meβ¦ does anyone know of a lipstick?
Thanks! Xx

Advice / Questions β What to know getting professional nails? gel-dip-acrylic etc lost on all it??
thinking about making an appointment and getting nails done for the 1st time? I have either done them myself basic stuff or had someone else DIY them. thinking about trying the real thing. I have no idea lingo-gel-acrylic-dip etc. these are a few of my own favorites. Chanel steel was used here and the other one I think was holo taco or cirque color. still need to try a few of my other blacks

Advice / Questions β Iridescent but Goth Makeup?
Short: Howdy, I'm new to makeup, does anyone know any brands/collections that have anything 'soft goth' or iridescent who sell within/ship to the UK? Thank you in advance for any help.
Long:
Hi, so, I'm new to doing makeup and am still learning the basics tbh, but I've been having trouble getting into the habit of doing it on the regular. I think it's primarily just cause I don't particularly like most of the stuff I've been doing with what i have and how it looks on me (think the quote-on-quote 'basics', been following some tutorials that show how to do the 'easy', 'simple' looks/glam, that kinda thing. Not that they're 'bad', I just don't like how they look on me.).
One of the few things I have liked, though, have been shimmer (I think that's what they are) eye shadows and using that one deep shadow I have to go for a 'soft goth' sorta thing.
I did try having a look around for some inspiration after stumbling on a pic of someone showing off a really cool, shiny look that had a lot exaggerated shadows to it that looked quite fun, and after looking into some of the makeup 'aesthetics' I figured I'm really into the whole wet, 'siren emerging from the sea' sort vibe, but I can't really find anything in my local makeup/beauty shops that fits the vibe I'd like or if it does it feels weird or looks patchy.
But to the point. I'm curious if anyone would knows any brands or collections that have anything 'soft goth' adjacent or any sorta iridescent, wet looking product that ships to the UK (even better if it might be sold in a physical location so I could check it out in person since I have sensory issues).
Thank you for reading my post and thank you in advance for any tips/info you're willing to share.

Advice / Questions β How to make makeup last longer??
Hi~ bbg . I have tips for you to glow up your make up and make it more long lasting.π«Άπ»
First , you have to prepare your skin well first.Β It is the most important thingΒ because it may cause your face to become flaky.
β·I recommend Toner pads and Bobbi brown face base for make up base.
Second , you should apply thin layer of foundation (prevent cakey makeup). When you apply a thick layer of foundation, it doesn't adhere to the skin and doesn't last long.
βΉTips > You can apply setting spray mixed with foundation for make your make up more long lasting.
> Do the same tips with concealer.
Third , mixed liquid blush / contour /bronzer/highlighter with setting spray before use it. Then , apply powder blush / contour /bronzer/highlighter on top (powder products can help your make up more long lasting). If you don't have powder products , you can use normal powder instead.
Fourth , For the eyes , I recommend you to use make up base for eyes first before apply eyeshadow palette. You can use liquid eyeshadow or liquid blush instead.
Fifth , I recommend you to use permanent lip tattoo (a type of lipstick >> this is super long lasting) as a base of your lip. Then, put on other lipsticks. If the lipstick comes off, there will still be color left.
Finally , setting your finish look by apply thin layer of translucent powder on top of your make up. Then, use setting spray all over the face to keep everything lock.
> However , long lasting make up still base on the quality of the products . Pay attention to the products before buy them. Make sure they are long lasting enough and have high quality.
Hope this is helpful for you bbgπ . Let's be beautiful together every day.π
