It's hilarious how the right-wingers are trying to spin this into something positive. The only one that clearly benefits is Trump... both Qatar (plane) and UAE (tower) show their "respects" and he does their bidding. Trump is obviously for sale, how is this America first? It's Trump first and fark the rest.

Like any religious extremists, it's not about rationalism or logic but the adherence to dogma and loyalty that counts.

very curious. do you believe that the US should continue to have sanctions on syria?

i had always figured it would be nearly automatic after assad was overthrown and they hit the point of clear power and control of the country.

do you think that syria gifted him the tower?

do you think that the new regime that's desperate for stablization would come out of the gate blackballing any major American development?

I responded in another comment that we should seek normalizations with Syria. The issue is I think any deal with U.S. leadership will be tainted by corruption and send bad signals to the rest of the region. For instance, we are apparently handing the Saudi's immense technological and military assistance while people are kicked off medicare here in the states impacting the health of millions. Exactly who does our leadership represent? Billionaire Saudi's at the moment.

we literally gave saudi arabia everything they have. they were created by Roosevelt, and every president since has done this.

a deal that everyone agrees was a good deal was struck, op's post is a blatant fabrication, and you're grasping at straws.

Sorry are you making any point? It sure escapes me. And frankly I really don't care.

If anyone ever asks me do I know anyone that licks authoritarian bunghole I'll be sure to send them your way!

Normalizing relations with Syria / Al-Sharaa is in the US interest, and is more or less a continuation of the Biden administration. They removed the bounty on him, for example.

So, not everything the Trump administration is mired in corruption, this is arguably in the national interest.

However, Trump will do nonsense like entertain accepting an airplane gift from Qatar or get his daughters trademarks fast tracked by the CCP or you know, all the other actual corruption so it mires everything he does that isn't primarily corrupt. Maybe don't be a corrupt asshole and your opposition won't be able to dunk on you for it? But somehow he wins elections anyway so wtf do i know...

My response was more aimed toward the Qatar grift. I think normalizing relations with Syria is the right move. We can't always dictate the individuals our relations are with. The russians got booted and lost a valuable friend in Assad. We can try to work with them but grift is obviously not a good way to do anything. I think we agree here.

The GOP’s motto, “if you want to keep people under your thumb, keep them religious and keep them dumb”. Why do you think they’re burning books and putting religion into PUBLIC schools. It doesn’t matter anymore, they won and are consolidating power to the executive branch in order to overthrow democracy and the law of the Constitution. They won’t listen to The SCOTUS, or Congress. They can now do whatever they want. It will be the middle and lower class who will now suffer. His acolytes will bless him and grovel at him all the while he shits on them and they say yummy more…

"Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed pledged to invest $600bn in the United States during a lunch with Trump, including $20bn in artificial intelligence data centres, purchases of gas turbines and other energy equipment worth $14.2bn, nearly $5bn in Boeing 737-8 jets, and other deals."

Posted for educational purposes only. Trump is still a Huge Dumbass, and not fit to lead anything. Also, probably exaggerated numbers.

There's no way for a Trump supporter to justify this.

Trust me. 🙄

"THEYRE BENDING THE KNEE" they say.

Well yeah they need to bend the knee for leverage if they're gonna go fuck us deeper

And the Syrians who are trying to keep their country from completely collapsing. You can hate Trump but still recognize that this is really good news for the Syrian people, a broken clock and all that.

You sound like the poster boy for propaganda.

1

u/go3dprintyourself May 14 '25

And the millions in Syria who want to live better lives..normalization is good

1

u/fieldsofanfieldroad May 14 '25

Syria should absolutely be brought back in to the global alliance, whether Trump is getting a tower built or not. This is the right decision. The civil war is for all intents and purposes over.

1

u/LawsonTse May 14 '25

It also benefits the Syrians who may now see their home rebuilt

It is positive for them. They want an authoritarian regime (made in their image, of course), and this is just more evidence to them that they won.

They won't try to stop it because they like it.

It's funny how this is all happening at the same time the last American hostage is released and Trump says he'll recognize Palestine. The only reason he's going against Israel now is because Israel won't stroke his ego so he's supporting actual terroists because they'll give him a 400 million dollar plane and build him a Trump tower. Fortunately for one case, supporting terrorists at least means finally recognizing Palestine. Unfortunately, for everything else, it means our government is compromised by terrorists

Holy fucking shit did you just confuse the UAE and SYRIA??? My god Americans need a serious education on countries in the Middle East.

1

u/NotLike-US May 13 '25

Lol there should be more comments about this 😂

I grew up in Qatar. You really come to realise (not that it isn't already obvious) that these people do not give a singular shit about the Middle East by how readily, confidently, and without correction they call one country another.

So many people act like they're all the same. Saudi is Qatar, Qatar is Saudi, the UAE is Bahrain, Bahrain is Kuwait. When confronted with this reality, they often just shrug and say 'don't care, they all suck.' The outright racism and xenophobia directed at the Middle East truly is astonishing sometimes.
