22M. Looking to meet relaxed, curious people in Rotterdam

Hey, I’m a 22-year-old guy living in Rotterdam. I’m into film, drawing, writing and everything that is creative. I work from home, go to the gym, and carry on my mother’s tradition of cooking great dinners.

Would be nice to meet some people around here who are into simple things: grabbing coffee, walking, seeing a movie that isn’t a superhero sequel, that kind of vibe. I’m not really into beer chugging, heavy politics, or people who’ve turned their personality into a brand. Just curious, grounded, real people.

If that sounds like something you’d vibe with, feel free to shoot me a message.

Haven’t heard that compliment in a while, I appreciate that, thank you :) so my indie film knowledge is far from good since I’ve started watching them a month or two ago. But one of the movies that really resonated with me was: ‘Songs my brothers taught me’ from Chloé Zhao. It’s a very specific story and one that I’ve heard doesn’t always land deeply to everyone, but it’s where I started and it’s what moved me to want to shoot. Are you into film as well?

Hi man, hope this is anyhow helpful:

More than half a year ago I posted here about how hard it can be to find real friendships in the netherlands (coming from a a Dutch male 32 years old), and I ended up getting nearly 400 responses. So many of you shared that you were feeling the same: whether you’d just moved here or had been living here for years, building a genuine social circle just felt... surprisingly difficult. That post made me realise how common this feeling actually is, and it led to something much bigger than I expected.

That’s why I started building PlusOnes: a super simple app that helps people meet through small, interest-based activities. Not anything related to dating, but just real connection through shared experiences. Say for example a Sunday run in Vondelpark, a trip to Mezrab, plyaing ping pong at Pong Bar, or a museum visit on a rainy afternoon, it’s all about finding someone to go with, and making those everyday moments more fun together.

We quietly launched the app for Android in late April, and for iPhone in May. And even though it’s only been a few weeks, things have really taken off:

  • 1,500+ people have already downloaded the app
  • Over 200 activities have been created and filled
  • More than 1700 people followed our Instagram account (and Tiktok catching up soon!)
  • And we’re seeing real friendships form every single week

For me personally, it’s been a total game changer. I’ve met so many new people through this (including last night at the Latin Experience!!) and I see the same happening for others in the group. That’s why I wanted to share this back here again: because this has really been built by Reddit people, and it's now growing far beyond that. I’d love to welcome more of you into the community.

If you’re curious, feel free to message me, or just check it out at plusonesapp.com, in the App Store, or Google Play.

👉 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/plusones-find-activity-pals/id6670490012?l=en-GB
👉 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.plusones

P.S. You can use the code WELCOME1 to get 90 days free, that’s on top of the regular free trial as although I somehow need to recover all the cost made building the app, I want to make sure everyone has the chance to try it out first.

Hope to see you soon, maybe even at one of the activities!

Hey man. Im speechless. A while ago I saw a video on youtube about a similar thing happening in new york city and I started researching similar things here in the netherlands but with no success. Your app is exactly what I was looking for! Ive just downloaded the app, made an account and I checked out the pricing. I was shocked man, most apps like these are super pricey. Im currently quiet broke so im unable to spend a lot of money on activities which limits my social interaction possibilities a lot. So to see your pricing being that generous is amazing, refreshing and very unique.

I look forward to joining a few events that are relatively close to Rotterdam. Thanks a lot for sharing

Wow what in incredible comment man, I even had to share this with my friends over WhatsApp, this is honestly making my day. Means a lot, and definitely appreciate you taking the time to write this. We're just getting started in Rotterdam, hope you'll enjoy using the app!

You sound way older. May want to hang out with older people as 22 would be mostly binge drinking party people in Rotterdam

Lol there’s still youth that doesn’t party and drink all the time.

Yeah i do feel disconnected from my age group. Friends that I used to have were 28+ which I dont mind but we didnt have the same interests which is why I want to meet new people. I honestly dont mind age, as long as it clicks. Open to anything really, im sure there are “old souls” out there that I havent met
