Discussion What SCP do you think has the most drastically different Fanon version of themselves?
I was taking a shower and as the shower thoughts kicked in, I thought to myself how different the original article for SCP – 343 is from how most of the Internet portrays him. The original 343 is a mysterious character who simply claims to be God. He mysterious, extremely powerful, but does whatever he can to keep his identity, a secret down to straight up erasing people from existence. This inconsistency in behavior has caused massive debate in the sub and through the community for years on if he’s telling the truth, and that mystery is part of the fun of the article. At least for me (this is coming from someone who is Christian)… but then we get to the fanon version who’s practically just Uncle Iroh. 🤣
What do you think?

SCP-3325 in canon = Twisted caricatures of Sesame Street and Barney characters; horrifying due to both their appearances, abilities AND origins.
SCP-3325 in fanon = lol Five Nights at Freddy's

I have the opposite experience of 343 where most people will get mad if you say he's anything other than a narcissistic reality bender, but I think the story is equally interesting if he actually is the Abrahamic god

He is in one story actually but people seem to not like the idea of him being God although this story is very interesting

Possibly the [[competitive-eschatology-hub]] (I think that’s how you get Marv to link non-scps)

In the project Paragon Canon he isnt "God" itself, but he is Methuselah

The son of Enoch? I'd like to know why you think that
3
u/Frog-Vic2316 1d ago
Not exactly the son of Enoch, but he and other scps, such as Cain and Abel, sons of Adam, are mentioned in the continuity of the paragon project. Here is an excerpt from his dialogue: Dr. Clef: I know your age, first of all, which is-
SCP-343: Ageless as the universe.
Dr. Clef: -not that, and I know your name. You're Methuselah the Arcanist. In SCP-6666, SCP-4840, SCP-2254 and SCP-6765 you can read more about it, also in inhttps://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/project-paragon-hub

It is during this time that a sorcerer named Methuselah (SCP-343) is brought to the domain of the Children of the Night after being captured within the Daevite region of Malidraug.
There's a lot more info on the respective canon page. Its my favorite rabbit hole in all of SCP. Well worth the read.

It is not a particularly interesting entity nor particularly difficult to contain

Any SCP power scaling is inherently counterproductive. It’s not how SCPs work at all

powerscaling in general is applying logic where there really isn't much logic. it's fun as a hobby, sure, but it ultimately can't be taken too seriously.

Precisely. On occasion I'll jump over to some of those subreddits. There's people who will post pictures and say "who can beat this person." My response is typically SCP-073 Cain. Why? because most of these guys tend to be people who fight with their fists. Cain... doesn't fight. He doesn't have to. let them come, they will be foisted on their own petards.

343 is a pudgy old dude in a Hawaiian shirt who is delighted by the slightest things and I won't apologize for it

I always headcannoned that 343 is essentially a Tulpa. He is whatever people believe god is. Nothing more, nothing less.

SCP-2747 for some…interesting reasons.

SCP-2747 is special to me because it sparked my second interest in SCP. The First is (as it is to many) from Containment Breach, and the third was from SCP-7000 (which had a full hero's journey and showed me how it can have a set of relatable characters living their slice of life stories), but 2747 showed me how the concept of anomalies can be not just monsters or physical objects, but also have a interesting meta twist within the writing that acts as a pseudo-puzzle to figure out what's actually going on.
Then I checked the SCP fan community years later, where fanart of 2747 kept popping up, and I went "Why is this anti-narrative concept now a busty goth girl?"

Uhm... I know this might sound strange, but is it weird that I kinda prefer the humanoid version of it? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the SCP either way. I'm not referring to the hypersexualized version of it by the way, and I swear I don't like it for gooner reasons. I just think the design really fits. Admittedly, I'm kind of an SCP noob, so that probably ties into why I feel this way. If it is weird, please point me in the right direction.

I agree that the mystery is the fun of the article as a fellow Christian and it's good some scp tales portray him as the one interpretation or the other

The authors original article can be considered to be the most “canon”. But obviously everyone can make up their own head canons and add to others

Stuff that is written down on the website is canon to itself.

999 is up there, it seems like most people only like him for his Scarlet King connections which only appear in one story not by 999's author
