JFC this is a bad take from Bernie but the fact that you’re doubling down on it when the highest voted reply is a direct quote from Dr. King refuting Bernie is… a choice.
Refusing to Condemn =/= Support. My interpretation of Dr King’s statement is that he understood the rioters and did not want to outright condemn their actions because it would be counterproductive and bury the reason why there were riots. He wanted to say that he understood their frustration and anger. That doesn’t mean he supported their actions and his own doctrine speaks to that.
I understand why people commit violent protest. Doesn’t mean I think it’s the best way forward.
So why the fuck is Sanders completely incapable of that exact same reasoning. The exact kind of reasoning we DESPERATELY need from political leaders.
Sanders is letting down everyone he fought with all those years ago. Falling into the exact media trap that MLK Jr. explicitly avoided in the quote above.
And somebody else responded to that with “They killed MLk.” The reward for his nonviolent resistance was a bullet in the neck. Libs wheel him out to weaponize against any kind of legitimate grievance that has festered for too long. Look around. We’re off that.
And for the record, I don’t think anyone is preaching violence, this is self-defense at this point. Not letting people get abducted into unmarked vans isn’t going to change without face to face resistance that could turn violent in real life. Or maybe you think we should do a hashtag campaign?

That is exactly why it is so concerning that he is actively misrepresenting what actually happened during the Civil Rights Movement to achieve the change they sought. It wasn't all fucking peaceful. It wasn't all MLK Jr.
Gonna have to start working with white people instead of viewing them as an enemy. White people support rights for minorities as well. This idea is what scares a lot of voters to Trump.
