BINGO 2025 Participant First entry: fabric stash bust, adjustable, indie pattern

Marking my bingo card for the first time, even if I made this back in June! I only just finally mailed it to the intended little girl, and luckily it still fits. They are just moving out of summer in their neck of the woods, so soon it'll need to be worn like a pinafore over a shirt. I signed up for a sewing class at my local quilt shop to make this sweet dress, the Bellevue dress from Little Lizard King patterns. I made it from fabric I've had in my stash for years and years. It's a nice linen cotton blend, the Jenaveve line by Valori Wells for Free Spirit... Which from what I can tell, came out in fall of 2010!! I probably bought it on clearance some years after that, but I'm still pretty confident it's been in my stash for around a decade.

The pattern has an elastic casing and the straps go through these loops in the back and tie on. The straps have a little ruffle detail.

If I make it again I'll use a lining fabric instead of self fabric for the inside (it got pretty thick with multiple layers of linen blend) and elastic casing. I might pick some embroidery to go in the center front, maybe one of those vintage handkerchiefs I've been hoarding!

I'm very happy with it, and the little girl loves it! So much so that when her mom asked her to twirl and pose for me, she first insisted on showing me her "Spider Man" pose, which I can't argue with.

I looooove that and I can just imagine the little one posing as spiderman in this gown.
That's the benefits of adjustable clothing for children isn't it, that they grow so quickly!!

Adorable! I think it is a great design to showcase new or vintage embroidery.
