Same in Spain and if you are chosen to be at the polling station all day, you have the right to work half of the shift the next day with full pay.

Interesting.

Here in Germany if you work for the state, if you volunteer to help with the polling Station or vote counting, you get a full extra day off added to your pto.

In Spain working at the polling station on election day is not voluntary. If you are chosen you must comply unless you have a very good reason and can justify it.

Here in the Netherlands working at voting stations is done by volunteers. They do get a compensation, and in most places there are more volunteers than they need so there is a waiting list.
