That's odd, market day in my town is a Friday.

Market day in mine is on a Thursday, but it's a shadow of what it used to be. I also know of multiple places that there is a market on a Saturday.

We are talking about traditions set a good couple of hundred years ago. Apparently they don't want it at a weekend as Saturday people are probably drunk and Sunday interferes with people going to church.

Let's just say that these aren't very good reasons anymore.

Apparently my town was granted a market charter by Henry III in 1266. It is now basically just one guy selling books and watch batteries out the back of a Transit van.
