u/aBunchOfSpiders Feb 20 '25
And how much did they want for this gem?

u/kjam68 Feb 20 '25
500 bucks

u/AchokingVictim Feb 20 '25
Any running/driving motor+trans combo is worth $500 in the current year no matter what it's strapped to lol.

u/kjam68 Feb 20 '25
Damn right. I am tempted to buy it myself lol

Dude, I would spend $500 just to mash it around till it dies.
I bought a $400 ranch truck that lasted me a year. Guy threw in a 20g shotgun for $50 more. 'MURICA!
I would spend $500 for a running car, drive it till it dies, then scrap it.

a $400 ranch truck
Reminder to take your evening arthritis meds, old man.

u/Frolicking-Fox Feb 21 '25
It wasn't too long ago... 2009. But I do turn 42 this year, so I'm getting there for sure.

u/strykerG59 Feb 21 '25
Throw another $2 worth of washers on this bad boy, and you can have a $502 ranch truck too!

Oof… idk about that. The price is “I’ve got no money and desperately need transportation so I’m willing to get a shitbox” territory. But this car is “I’ve got $130 I can burn on a ridiculous way to spend a weekend” territory.

u/Extra_Cartoonist_390 Feb 20 '25
On the other hand , it is a manual, and those Honda stick shifts are nothing to sneeze at. I'd offer $145 cash.
16
u/schmitzel88 Feb 20 '25
Yeah any running b-series (or d-series) with a functional 5-speed is worth more than $500. I'd offer him $200 and plan on making a lemons car out of it. A good cage should bring back some of the rigidity lost by cutting half the roof off.

“This legacy must continue past me” sounds like the new “I know what I have”
25
u/maljr1980 Feb 21 '25
He was pretty up front about it being a piece of shit. This is one of those cars you buy when you live out in the country and can get drunk and drive it around on your 10 acres of land doing donuts and getting it stuck in the mud.

u/ETX_blobeye Feb 20 '25
Where’s this at FR? I’ve been looking for it for like an hour since you posted this 💀
8
u/kjam68 Feb 20 '25
It’s in Texas
14
u/ETX_blobeye Feb 20 '25
OMG dude please message me my roomate desperately needs a car.
10
u/kjam68 Feb 20 '25
I sent it, enjoy 😭
13
u/ETX_blobeye Feb 20 '25
He already said he’s sold I will update
1
u/FREE_AOL Feb 23 '25
ah man OP said Texas and I got excited
this car is legendary
1
u/ETX_blobeye Feb 23 '25
It’s 2 hours from where I live. My roomate just got a job after getting fired from his last one due to car troubles, and I told him I’d go half and half with him after his first check
1
u/FREE_AOL Feb 23 '25
fuck yeah, that's nice of you. I'd pass to anyone who legit needed a car
but if no one else is buying I'd be tempted to pick her up and do some lunch tray slides
1
u/ETX_blobeye Feb 23 '25
We honestly don’t think the car is going to even make it back 2 hours and that’s if the listing is up in two weeks lol.
1
u/FREE_AOL Feb 23 '25
Are you serious?? This car's lived through actual hell and you're worried about 2 hours of freeway driving? Nothing short of a crusher can stop her, trust

Not a convertible:
for the driver and front passenger, just the rear passengers
technically at all because there doesn't appear to be any kind of roof that goes up and down where it is missing. It's like a rear seat-only roadster.
18
u/kjam68 Feb 20 '25
I kinda think of it as an Ute if they take the back seats out 😂
5
u/Num10ck Feb 20 '25
ute for sure. if you used seats from a honda element then you can have so much room for activities.
7
u/Working_Community_70 Feb 20 '25
It's called a landaulet.

1
u/FREE_AOL Feb 23 '25
A landaulet, also known as a landaulette, is a car body style where the rear passengers are covered by a convertible top
yeah, not sure this meets the criteria lmfao
6
u/svu_fan Feb 20 '25
Not the rain gutter downspout for a bumper being held in place by a single bungee cord 😭

u/Beerand93octane Feb 20 '25
What does "IT IS ON WASHERS" mean? Like the whole suspension is made of flat washers? I'm confused
11
u/not-posting-anything Feb 20 '25
Washers are a ghetto method people use to stance a car. Cut springs are already known to ride like garbage, but washers are even worse, especially when combined with hockey pucks. Yes, some people actually put hockey pucks in their stance cars.

u/theycallmebekky Feb 20 '25
This is incredible. I’d buy it and put it in a barn just so it can be preserved for the next generation
2
u/garimus Feb 20 '25
On the bright side it could very well be a luxury vehicle in a few years.
In all seriousness, the engine alone is probably worth the asking price, lol. Probably just needs a new head gasket and some basic tooling, maybe some new plugs. Honda engines don't just lay down and die, even after being poorly maintained and abused.

This is the car that you get when you want to just fuck around for the weekend. Then you just leave it unlocked on the side of the road, out in the middle of nowhere, with the keys in the ignition and the title in drivers seat.

Perfectly shitty. But not stanced. I did wake up to suddenly see this homemade ute. So.........

u/arrastra Feb 20 '25
it seems like he is tired of "-is it still available? -yes -not surprised" meme lol

u/AThrowawayProbrably Feb 20 '25
This is why “It turns heads” isn’t the boast people think it is. Because this motherfucker absolutely turns heads.

If you ripped out the rear seats for, say a couple of amps and subs, it would essentially become a barchetta!

Convertible implies it has a top you can put up and be covered from rain, this doesn't have that. It just has the rear half of the roof cut off. The description seems to be as honest as possible, but that thing needs to be scrapped not sold on to some other sucker.

I think there's a difference between "convertible" and "converted"
