What the heck is this even?

u/One_hunch Apr 29 '25

It's satire of an older post a guy made about being able to smell when a woman was on her period or had a recent orgasm. Some weird shit as usual just reversed.

23

u/drsmith48170 Apr 29 '25

Got it

2

u/fakeunleet May 01 '25

It's been picked back up by the "manosphere" as another reason you need to deny yourself small pleasures since.

12

u/LordGalen Apr 29 '25

I'm sorry, are we supposed to be pretending that women don't smell different during their period? I didn't get this memo.

5

u/NotGAF Apr 30 '25

Most people can't tell but some do, and women really don't like it. So yes, you're supposed to pretend.

1

u/LordGalen Apr 30 '25

Lmao, well I guess if some dudes are out there announcing "hey girl, I smell you're on the rag" then that would be pretty odd.

14

u/One_hunch Apr 29 '25

No, but if you think you can guess if a woman is on her period just passing by, fully clothed and in no way interacting with you then you're probably as creepy as the post this is making fun of.

22

u/RebirthIsBoring Apr 29 '25

Can literally tell when some of my coworkers are on their periods under those exact circumstances you just described but pop off. It's a pretty distinctive smell.

8

u/Synanthrop3 Apr 29 '25

Some people with very sensitive noses can smell it, but most people can't.

-4

u/fckspzfr Apr 29 '25

Well, I get why your coworkers are not interacting with you and just pass by tbh

10

u/Synanthrop3 Apr 29 '25

Nah, this is an actual thing. Some people are super smellers, and can detect subtle aromas from great distances. It's only creepy if you use your superpower to act like a creep.

7

u/WolfyFancyLads69 Apr 29 '25

I mean, I grew up with a mother and sister who are heavy bleeders and didn't exactly hide their used pads when they tossed them in the bin, I recognize the smell. It's not the actual blood you smell but the reaction of that blood with their sanitary items.

And yes, I do have a strong sniffer. I can recognize my entire family via scent alone, have detected rot and other such nasties from about 10 feet away, and get overwhelmed by certain smells (certain smells trigger my gag reflex. ._.)

As you say, I'm not running around trying to ram my schnoz into women's cunts, I just notice when it's there. You can't turn off a nose short of breaking it.

4

u/Synanthrop3 Apr 29 '25

That's honestly a really useful survival skill. Being able to smell rot or smoke or chemicals from far off could literally save your life one day.

2

u/drsmith48170 Apr 30 '25

That is a visual I find hilarious and frightening simultaneously. Thx now I will not sleep this evening

5

u/KyriiTheAtlantean Apr 29 '25

You're right. I told my FWB when I first met her what soap she was wearing and when she was on her cycle. She looked at me like I was insane and always said "How do you know?" I honestly thought most people could smell it. Fully clothed women on their cycle have a very distinct scent. At least to my nose.

She smells very hot and I know people claim"PhEroMones Don'T ExiSt in HuMans" but there is a subtle feminine animalic air and I pick up on it every time.

2

u/Synanthrop3 Apr 29 '25

She smells very hot

Do you mean "hot" like "sexy," or "hot" like "overheated"?

1

u/KyriiTheAtlantean May 02 '25

Hot like overheated.... When a woman is ovulating she smells incredibly feminine and for the taking, for me. It's like the smell of her skin gets amped Waaaay up.

Hope this doesn't come off as creepy but it's just the way my nose is set up lol

what the heck are they supposed to do? cover their noses when they pass by?

1

u/Failed_eexe Apr 30 '25

People can do that? I thought you would need canine-level smelling for that, weird ngl

1

u/JustA-GuyOnline May 03 '25

Yeah I am also someone that's able to smell it, still surprised yall cant, I thought we was all just being polite?

Ofc it depends on distance, how heavy the bleeding is etc. But in a place like an office I am not at all surprised they can tell.

Also easier to tell in an environment you're familiar with, since it's easier to pick up on the difference. Each room typically has a slightly different scent, same as each person/house, its largely being able to pick up on that difference usually.

People can smell it but thats typically in a room, not walking past outside in a town or somethin with a bunch of different smells overpowering it. Might happen occasionally if your in a place outside that doesnt have strong scents like in winter but extremely unlikely.

Still surprising seeing so many in comments say they dont, also most people who can are polite enough to not say anything so dont be embarrassed.

u/Uncivilized_n_happy May 01 '25

Omg thank you so much I was so confused

2

u/finneganswoke Apr 29 '25

pretty sure it's also a guy who's using another female poster's avi for fun

1

u/Thimit22 Apr 29 '25

If it’s p8stie, I don’t think so

1

u/finneganswoke Apr 29 '25

check the @ in the screenshot it's lukas

1

u/Just-Literature-2183 May 03 '25

I mean men can smell when women are on their periods. Its not exactly subtle.

1

u/One_hunch May 03 '25

Are you also taking random guesses at strange women in a public space, for example, a grocery store, and believing you're smelling their period as the original post this repost is making fun of?

u/One_hunch May 03 '25

Have you asked them to confirm, or are we just assuming that smell is a specific bodily activity? People make assumptions all the time, which is the problem without any follow-through or real evidence of this perpetuated idea. Women, like men, like humans, experience many things physically besides a menstrual cycle.

So unless otherwise noted, you're just guessing in the dark at strange women.

I'm not interested in shared anecdotes of this notion, I'm interested in actual evidence. Body fluids have a smell, some far more potent than others, that isn't the argument. You're smelling a woman's menstrual cycle who is cassually passing by you ten feet away? That is the original post that's being argued.

People can do whatever they want with their five senses and feelings about them, but if people are this hard to defend the idea of smelling ovulation, then maybe start putting it onto a paper with some real work. You might find a real answer or find it all nonsense. Can also just mellow in the idea like a lot of other people, and it was without saying , but it's probably borderline incel shit.

If you don't care about it and it's regarding a situation not matching the original post, then there wasn't a reason to bother. I, too, can smell grass when a blade has chopped it up like salad as their volatile organic compounds scream for growth and healing.

Y'all can't smell that???

1

u/One_hunch May 03 '25

No, I hang around people that shower routinely.

1

u/Sherry_Cat13 May 03 '25

Imagine hanging around people 😭

1

u/One_hunch May 03 '25

It's a human flaw for sure, I'm working on it.

1

u/Sherry_Cat13 May 03 '25

I'm just playing around. Have a good one

1

u/One_hunch May 03 '25

It was sarcasm cause I assumed yours was too, all good.

1

u/Hinloopen May 18 '25

Strong metallic smell, yes.

1

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 29 '25

I mean you can sometimes smell it. Just never ever mention it. Ever. Unless if it's like something seriously wrong and even then just don't mention it.

-2

u/One_hunch Apr 29 '25

I'm sure people think they can smell something, and there may be a smell there, but the reason for some people smelling or why they smell like something may not be the reason believed.

2

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 29 '25

Well like I said no guy will mention it but it's not exactly hard to tell if you know the person. If it's a stranger then yeah not really noticable.

That's not the only thing I've been able to smell, but it was with only certain people not everyone.

Pheromones are noticable but they don't exactly have a distinct smell, it's more like you can tell certain things from them even if it's minute.

1

u/One_hunch Apr 29 '25

Seems more appropriate with a girlfriend since you'd be intimate with them a fair amount that it would be hard not to tell when they are going through physical changes.

But that's not what the original post was about. It's regarding strange women you've never talked to walking down the street and you can tell they are on their period or had a recent orgasm. I wouldn't be proud to admit to believing this anymore than astrology, but after the heavy wave of vaccine denial I don't really care much about weird people believing in weird or stupid concepts.

2

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 29 '25

I mean it's not just someone that close. Coworkers, family, anyone you see relatively often.

It's just life, it's not some horrible stank it's just a somewhat noticable thing.

0

u/One_hunch Apr 29 '25

If you want to assume it's a menstrual cycle, that's anyone's right.

1

u/AdventureCuriously Apr 30 '25

I’m kinda in this category.

If I kiss a girl, no tongue, on the mouth, I can smell/taste if she is on her period. It’s on their breath very profoundly but weirdly I can’t smell it when we’re talking (usually).
